This Flash Gordon film from 1936 has a surprising modern depiction of a flying saucer as the enemy space vehicle. How long has this design been part of the public perception?

General Relativity physics shows that time travel is possible

Einstein's General Relativity physics shows that pressure creates gravity: positive pressure creates positive attractive gravity; and negative pressure/tension creates negative repulsive anti-gravity. The following physics proof shows that negative anti-gravity causes time to progress in the negative direction to the past - instead of progressing in the positive direction to the future.

If someone were to capture legitimate UFO/alien evidence with a phone, what's the likelihood of something happening?

As in federal agents showing at their door, the recording/media itself malfunctioning, the extraterrestrials themselves retrieving it, etc? I know most people on reddit are "too technical" and have a disbelief in everything to believe such things exist but if they did, what do you think would actually happen to the evidence? Would they continue to live? We've all heard them stories of the "Men In Black" and the of the recordings malfunctioning somehow due to airwaves or something from the craft itself. Do you think it's possible actual footage was already released and something happened to the person? If you're just going to comment "they don't exist so it doesn't matter" or something likewise, save your time and energy and just go to a different post. This is hypothetical and seems like an interesting conversation to have. Thanks and hope everyone is doing good.

Head of NATO Wives Club Tells all

Kay Griggs 1998 interview, her husband would drink and divulge military intelligence. He had a high clearance and she was Head of NATO Wives Club. In a nasty divorce she managed to steal a diary where she learned much more information. Along with the things she was privy to. And then she told all in this 7 hour interview. For anyone interested in "deep state" or "new world order" they are gonna find more raw real information here than they could hope to find most all other places.

Edit: Some of the white text added to the video could be taken offensively, my fault for not scanning it before posting. Just wanted to note that I did not that add that text, it was in the original I found

UFO sightings and related experiences

If this post is against the rules i apologize and didn’t mean to violate on purpose. I was a soldier stationed on an army base in southeastern Ga. This took place around March 2019 if i remember correctly. I can’t remember the exact date but it was forsure march 2019. I was on staff duty (24 hour guard shift) it was maybe midnight three people on duty including myself. After the battalion clears out for the weekend or end of the day and your required duties are done for the night it’s like an endless smoke break. There’s quite literally nothing to do but monitor a radio periodically check doors and locked gates do an hourly activity log maybe a barracks check but for the most part between 3 people you can get away with standing outside in the smoking area for a few hours. As I’m doing just that I’m observing the stars in their glory that night was very clear and there were no immediate obstructions blocking my view. I’m talking to my buddy about the stars and constellations n shit like that we’re both looking and we see what we could only describe as what looked similar to a mouse cursor in its shape and that it was fully illuminated and pointed like a triangle. It appeared and from the 3 seconds it was visible we gathered our thoughts and concluded that the altitude was certainly very high maybe commercial height no way to tell but the speed that it covered a 6 foot field of view was incredible. We were both fairly seasoned we’ve seen our fair share of military aircraft and stealth fighters bombers stuff like that and this wasn’t that only a few people know about this from me I’m not sure who my battle discussed it with but I’m curious to know what you think and if anyone has experienced anything similar. I’ve seen other odd sights related to the stars but I’ll save that for another post

Prison Planet question

I was thinking earlier about the prison planet theory. Where the greys trap our souls in an endless loop to feed off our misery. I’m not saying I believe it or anything but it got me thinking. We aren’t too far from being able to download our consciousness and living a digital life. If that happens what do you think their reaction would be? This is all purely speculative I don’t think either way about whether or not it has any truth or merit. I’m just curious to hear others ideas.

Random thought. i wonder if NHI music has been permeated into our social systems through varying communications, my guess is it would end up in dance culture. Has there been reference to music and the phenomena

Has there been stories or cases related to music and the phenomena

I know of the case where astronauts heard music outside which was caught on audio, but theres very little else

Why does the government want to cover up ufo's?

I don't get what the big deal is in covering everything up and hiding if there is intelligent life out there. Why not just tell us, I'm sure society won't crumble just because there is life on other planets. In fact, it might make people feel better about certain things. Same thing with something like sasquatch, why hide him? It's just a big monkey, what's with covering everything up? I personally would be more in awe than freaking out.

Book review: Alien Invasion: How to Defend Earth by Travis Taylor and Bob Boan

When I heard of Travis Taylor and learned that he wrote sci-fi, I picked up a random book of his, and gave up after one page or so. Think the subtlety and the nuance of Golan-Globus productions. Later, I learned that he co-authored a book more relevant to the subject of this subreddit, Alien Invasion: How to Defend Earth. I'm glad I gave it a chance. It's more than idle speculations. More importantly, it provides some clues as to where Taylor fits in the currently developing chapter of the UFO story, and another explanation for the secrecy about the issue. (Spoiler alert: their reasoning is backwards.)

The book was released in 2011, when Taylor already spent much time both in the academia and in the government, but seemingly before his involvement in the UFO topic (?).

What the book is about

The book is a set of detailed discussions and thought experiments on the feasibility of existence of technologically advanced extraterrestrials, them being detrimental to us as a species, as well as military scenarios and recommendations.

Some parts make perfect sense, especially those supported by math. Others, less so. (I don't mind drawing inspiration from sci-fi, although it's unclear why more serious works were not considered. But the sci-fi is mostly limited to a combo of low-brow pop culture stuff and John Ringo.)

The authors don't talk much about the politics but the little they do praises George W. Bush, US military, preppers, etc. (It does not distract from the topic but puts it in context.)

The good

On a fundamental level, the book raises several important points:

  • low probability, high likelihood scenarios are not to be ignored. "Prepare early and survive" is the authors' favorite mantra.
  • over time and space, low probability events and phenomena are not as improbable anymore
  • it is utterly naive to assume that highly developed equals benevolent

More pertinent to the extraterrestrial hypothesis, the book shows that an encounter with another technologically advanced species is not unlikely. It also makes a good case that even a neutral or a benevolent species may cause serious issues.

A whole chapter is dedicated to the UFOs. What's important is that the chapter did not claim it's all seagulls and parallax. It does say that much is misidentified and challenges some known cases which today are viewed differently, but still it feels odd. The survey of the early games with Project Sign and the green fireballs is well-informed and to the point. Now we can take it for granted, but releasing a book in 2011 claiming "there might be more to it" was a pretty brave move for PhD employed by the government. Unless, of course, already then Taylor dealt with the subject.

Interestingly enough, the authors talk a lot about directed-energy weapons. Some UFO talking heads allege that the secret UFO research was focusing on them as well.

The authors also advocate for development of "linguistics". It seems that they are not familiar with natural language processing or computational linguistics and grasp for some ideas (while, actually, some research on the subject was conducted since 1970s or so). Good effort, could do better with researching the subject.

The bad

My biggest issue is that instead of drawing on the history of science, engineering, diplomacy, much was substituted by discussions of Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, etc. (Ah, and John Ringo.)

The chapter on the motivations of the invading force starts off well (analysis of what they want to achieve) but never goes in depth. There is always the same trite "the natives suffer in the end" but not mentioning the fact that the more advanced human societies treat the natives kinder and even protect them. Not even a hint of discussions of potential legal constraints, economic constraint of the war, etc. The war-related sections seem to have been written with the same old pop culture assumption that we are the civilized ones and the other side are all bloodthirsty toothy monsters but with better guns.

The discussion on weapons coming from standard tropes like kaiju, I imagine, was written to make the book more entertaining but it'd be more interesting if it would focus on more realistic settings.

The horrifying: secrecy

The main reason for me to write this review is that it may explain the behavior of some UFO figures (in the government). Again, it's unclear what was Taylor's involvement with the topic at the time, but if he was already involved, or if those involved with the claimed "legacy program" felt the same way, it explains a lot.

In one chapter, the authors explain how the standard war simulations work. They introduce the concept of Lanchester's laws and adapt for the extraterrestrial invasion scenario. I'll just paste the important fragment here:

It is the original Lanchester efforts that are the basis of all of the aggregated combat force–attrition simulation models accepted today by the Department of Defense. Our present simulation tool is a modified and updated deterministic system that would be classified as an “enriched” Lanchester-type model....[explanations how the simulation works]...Over 400 different simulations were conducted with varying force multipliers, force sizes, attrition rates, etc. The one scenario shown here where humanity survives and the aliens begin to be attritted away is akin to a post-apocalyptic scenario. In this scenario it was assumed that all women over fourteen years old were taking fertility drugs and were continuously pregnant with (on average) triplets. All males were fighting the war. The females also maintained the war infrastructure and logistics. This is most definitely a horrific survival-of-the-species-at-all-costs scenario.

Read it and digest it. Imagine that it becomes certain that an invasion armada is approaching, and that we're looking at a war that will make every single war fought among us look like a joke, and that even if the generations living today survive, their lives will be living hell even comparing to the future described in the Terminator movies.

That is not all.

In a series of chapters, the authors outline a series of countermeasures, involving a creation of "Sixth Column", a secret military institution dedicated to research and preparation for the invasion. There is a special emphasis on the secrecy.

Now of course this essay is a bit facetious and was meant this way to prove a point. We, the authors, have no knowledge of any alien spacecraft, Area 51, or government conspiracies. But if the U.S. has or were to gain such knowledge or technology, we should maintain it, study it, improve upon it if possible, and by all means not let the rest of the world have the slightest idea of its existence. Heinlein once stated, “A secret weapon must be just that: a secret.” We agree.

If we tell the rest of the world, then our secret weapon, by definition, will lose its status as a secret weapon. As an example of this, before the world knew that we had stealth bombers and fighters other nations had no reason to go looking for them. Now that they know they exist, our enemies are updating their technologies and will soon be able to find ways of detecting them.

The secrecy chapter is complete with fictional scenarios which sound oddly similar to what was proposed by some UFO figures. (The experts are then asked whether we should go public with this knowledge, to which the answer is either "no" or "yes" but with reservations.)

Scenario #1: An alien spacecraft and a full complement of dead bodies were found just outside one of our nation’s Air Force bases. Presently, no details of why the aliens were here can be ascertained.

...

Scenario #2: An alien mummy is found in an Egyptian pyramid. The mummy is completely intact and appears to be an Anubis. Other than clothing, the only article of interest in the sarcophagus is a flashlight. The flashlight is nothing fancier than a modern two-dollar battery-operated incandescent bulb flashlight and a plastic toothbrush. The mummy and its artifacts are found to be ten thousand years old. Presently, no details of why the alien was here can be ascertained.

It is also suggested to ridicule any possible leaks.

And this is where the pieces of the UFO puzzle start fitting together. AARO first being open then starting to follow the guidelines of the 1953 Robertson Panel. Same AARO working on sensors and getting bigger funding while saying "there's nothing to see".

Does the secrecy make sense in this scenario?

Not to me.

While I can understand some arguments of the authors and it does sound like they have survival of the human species in mind, I believe their biggest mistake is the assumption that radical technological achievements are feasible in a top-secret environment with a few hundred researchers. "Oh but what about the Manhattan Project?" Totally different. It was decades ago, when the defense contractors were less powerful and the US government did not have the corrupt lobbying ecosystem. It was also a project relying on human science that was novel but with known theories. I am not even talking about the ubiquity of smartphones and social media, as well as the sheer number of competing powerful interests.

If they are trying to reverse engineer technology built from a completely different engineering perspective, they need as many eyeballs as possible. Relying on a few hundred geniuses is a pipe dream. Will there be noise and disruptions? Sure. But the advantage of having 200,000 minds attacking the problem from different perspectives over 500 who might be influencing each other's conclusions beats the expenses on PR management and security.

I believe Tic-tacs are mass transports, like buses, or planes without wings

When I see a Tic-tac I see it as a plane without wings, sort of like a bus in the sky, probably full of beings moving from one part of the planet to another one.

My UFO story

This is a recollection of an event in which I had recorded a video of a USO that ejected into a UFO in my hometown. I recorded it on my friends phone, and he later deleted the video (I know, he's a coward).
It was late at nigh, and I was at the top of a summit which overlooked the harbour and city. I originally was up there smoking some cigarettes and weed (I know, weed, keep reading, I wasn't the only witness). MUFON had a map of my hometown (Prince Rupert, BC) in which there were several other reports of the same event. They've changed their website and it looks like shit now, so forgive me for not having the link. I was at the top of a summit looking over the city and harbour at around around 12:45 am-ish, so late at night.

Anyway, he and I were at the top of the summit and there was a light in the harbour illuminating some water. I originally was suspicious of it because it was lighting up the harbour and I knew it was weird. My phone was dead (this was maybe 2012/2013), so I asked to use his phone. There was a large yellow/white light illuminating the harbour at a certain area, and I started recording. Soon enough, we could see a silhouette rising up to the surface (imagine a bunch of stalagmites, and almost high-rise building tops). The light grew larger and the silhouette wider. Soon enough, something emerged from the water, or the same place where the silhouette was. I couldn't see its shape, it was too dark, but it flashed colored lights. Green, red, and blue lights, flashing in order one after the other. I remember sticking my ear out to try to hear any kind of whirring or sounds and it was completely silent. It flew over our heads, and that's when I realized it was a UFO. Not long after, the coast guard had dispatched a helicopter to follow it and it was really loud. It followed the UFO as it passed over the city sky, out of view. the USO began to sink into the harbour, and eventually disappeared.

There were other reports of the same occurrence, and I don't have the video sadly, but it's been long enough I wanted to share my anecdotal experience. I'm still upset at my friend for deleting the video, mind you it was still the time in which people were very afraid of talking about UFOs. I was verbal about the experience and told people (definitely mocked about it), and it changed my life.

A little info about my home town, it has one of the deepest natural harbours in north america (if not the deepest). There's a container port in the town, and the harbour didn't need any trenching. It's a small town, though there were about 2 other reports of it happening iirc. Though, those reports were only about the airborne UFO, we were at a vantage point in which we could see the USO.

To this day, my friend who was there with me hasn't spoken about it. I love the whole phenomena, and after that, it changed my paradigm about the world enough to start learning about it. I haven't been the same since.
