I saw this flyer being circulated around some group chats my friends and I are in. Looks like a golf day with some ex-pro rugby players who are coming to Dubai for the 7s - also saw Paul Waring was attending.
I'm quite keen on going since I've never played Ranches and it's for a good cause, but I would need some teammates since the organisers are selling teams. Is anyone keen to sign up for a team?
I see a good value in recent 5iron Dubai (located at Westin Dubai Mina) promotion + winter team league
Any Callaway club purchase in there + free fitting and test with PGA coach, they credit you with free membership (for 1500 AED you'll get 1 month). i.e. You buy recent driver AI Smoke (3150 AED), gives you 2 months of membership!
Winter Team League - https://fiveirongolfdubai.leagueapps.com/leagues/golf/4423943-five-iron-dubai-winter-league-2024
Summary: I think for 500 AED per head until end of Jan would be nice indoor golfing.
-Each round, teams will play 9 holes on rotating courses and formats.
-Players will putt with 12 foot gimmies (TrackMan)
-Play runs for 8 weeks, with 7 weeks of regular season and 1 week of playoffs/championship.
- Every Monday 7pm
I'm going to sign up, but haven't put together Team (currently need 3 players), I'll get team up with other individual players, who can't put together team, unless we can create 'Reddit Team' with recruits from this community.
Disclaimer: I'm not anyhow affiliated with 5iron Golf Dubai.
I am a new golfer that started playing a couple of months ago. Since then I have been playing a few Par 3, spending time at the range and taking lessons at JGE.
In the coming weeks I am planning to take some time off work and play some midweek golf.
I am thinking about Jebel Ali, Meydan or maybe Sharjah to play a few rounds towards a handicap.
As a beginner, which do you think would be best suited?
Thanks
Marhaba fellow golf and women, as title says pls share your thoughts on best value range options around Dubai.
Thanks in advance
Having read all the posts on here about the different courses i'm tied between these two.
I am playing night golf once on the Faldo course just for the experience.
Then I want to play one more time while I'm over there. I'm a 14 handicapper but the dreaded fade/slice creeps in when playing tighter courses so just don't fancy a frustrating round.
I want a course that's decent condition, not too far from the palm and reasonably forgiving. Don't need anything too hard. Just want to enjoy the day and play a decent game while on vacation.
Majlis sounds too tight, trump sounds a bit boring if it's wide wide open and still got construction(?), Dubai Creek will be too far if there's traffic, Jumeirah Estates sounds like I need to be playing of single figures to enjoy it.
Thanks!
Hey All,
First time to Dubai in December (17th-27th). Never been to the desert before so what can I expect in terms of weather...mainly regarding when to play golf?
At that time of the year is it still too hot to play at certain times? Is it going to busy throughout? It seems a lot cheaper for twilight golf at 2pm onwards...will I find the courses busier at those times due to the cheaper price or is it generally quieter? I've read that most people can still get around before sunset by teeing off around 2, however is 2pm going to be unbearably hot?
Thanks!
Hey all,
Visiting Dubai 17th Dec-27th Dec. Want to play two courses and have a good range session beforehand.
I know the commercialised TopGolf won't be the best 'academy' however I want to experience hitting balls off the top deck into the cityscape.
Can anyone clear up this pricing structure for a single golfer wanting a practice session?
I'm basing this on a Thursday evening around 8pm for 2hrs.
210 AED - Reserve a bay (per visit i'm guessing)
480 AED - Balls & Gameplay for 2hrs
20 AED - Membership
710 AED Total
--
Coaching Bay
590 AED - 1hr Bay with a Coach
240 AED - 1hr extra for practice with balls
20 AED - Membership
850 AED Total
--
So for 140 AED more you can get a coach for an hour.
Is the above correct? Has anyone used a coach - are they like lessons or a lot more casual. I don't think 140AED more is too bad...
How busy is TopGolf during holidays and on a Thursday...do I really need to book a bay? I'm on vacation so would rather know I can get a good bay especially with it being massively expensive for a single golfer practicing.
Thanks!!
The Wilson Staff balls are currently available for 45 AED (dozen).
Planning a trip to Dubai for next year.
I am planning on staying at The Palm and getting full board at a resort. Therefore, I want to know the top golf courses nearby where I can play 18 holes and be back in time for lunch/dinner.
18th Hole, 547 yards
Super underrated course.
4 today I played 18 in just 3 hours.
I genuinely think they have the best kept greens in the country. No massive pitch marks like emirates. I will choose Al Zorah every day of the week. Can’t wait for the new club house.
This might be a bit bias because I always play well when I’m there.
I will be transiting Dubai in first week of November, I have 3 days. Thinking of doing Par 3s in Emirates Golf, Trump International and Montgomerie. How is weather around 4 pm ? Is it bearable for 9 holes? Cheers.
Just remember Golfers. If you have a credit card that earns Airmiles ME points, these can be spent on vouchers for: Egolfmegastore - golf equipment Spikeson - Troon based golf courses and lessons
Airmiles ME points are mostly earned using HSBC credit cards. But if you are buying booze at African & Eastern or buying electrical goods at SharafDG you can also earn points https://www.airmilesme.com/
(I have no affiliation with them, I discovered we had loads of points and bought some clubs in the Egolfmegastore during their sale = free set of irons!)
Hi everyone, I’m heading out to Dubai mid November to play a few rounds of golf. Normally I’d be booking a package with a TA but this time I have the ‘luxury’ of booking my own tee times as it’s not a direct golf trip (work).
The week I’m there is between the Yas/JGA DP World tour events so some times are limited, but is there anything I should be looking at for discounted tee times for that week?
Also anywhere you recommend? I’m playing Zorah/Yas and would like to get on the Creek course if possible.
TIA
I’m moving to Abu Dabhi soon. Looking to play midweek, 6-7 rounds a month. Are the memberships worth it ? What price range am I looking at for midweek in Abu Dabhi specifically ? Open to suggestions on cards as well :)
I can only speak for my own experience and yours may of course vary, but I'm interested to see whether anyone else is feeling frustrated by golf in the UAE right now.
When I joined my club years ago, it felt like a genuine community. There were regulars you'd always bump into and even the strangers you met were cool, friendly and many became friends who you'd see outside the course.
Nowadays, I don't get that feeling anymore. Golfing in Dubai (at least in my eyes) feels like it's made a rapid transition from a social and community-building activity to something that's now predominantly catering to the super rich.
Clubs are at capacity and are therefore charging whatever they like. My fees have gone up three consecutive years and am anticipating another jump when we get the dreaded letter from the memberships department in December.
Even those who manage to get to the front of the wait list are now slugged with ridiculous non-redeemable joining fees that are basically a large cash donation to the club. All of this contributes to slowly changing golf clubs from a community atmosphere to a more elitist environment, which is seldom a good thing.
Much of this attitude also carries on to the course. I've seen numerous members get verbally abusive to staff knowing the club won't do a thing. A club rep even gave a vague warning one day suggesting we don't approach/offend "certain members" ... (read into that what you will)
Overall I just feel pretty disenchanted and am at the point where I am not sure I will maintain my membership in 2025 (which I don't say lightly, as I know this means an end of playing golf on a regular basis).
The sad thing is, my club would quietly welcome this because they can replace me with someone far wealthier who will spend more and play less.
My club used to be a community. Now it feels like a collective of super wealthy individuals and as long as there is a wait list for memberships, nothing is going to change.
Anyone else feeling like this?
Seems like this free credit card could be a great addition for Abu Dhabi residents 👏
Anyone keen to join? I’d love to give this a go!
Are most courses cart only? Or can you walk some courses too
Extra 20% off on green fees andreai academy bookings for Dubai Golf courses (JGE, Emirates, Dubai Creek, Etc.) On the Viya app.
Just had an email about this, didn't know it existed.
Like the title suggests, I am looking for beginner’s golf lessons. I was looking into group lessons as I got 2/3 friends who are looking to learn together.
Can anyone suggests any good courses/packages in Dubai?
Is anyone looking for a playing partner for a round of golf tomorrow? Saturday 28 September?
😂 AI is improving for image generation, but clouds in the sky and two flags on the green are a bit odd!
What's your best attempt at AI images for Dubai Golf courses?
Hey Redditers - I’m looking for an awesome mid week or Friday morning golf deal in Dubai? I’ve played Tower Links RAK a few times now and looking for a change in scenery but not looking to spend 100s if not 1000s on a round. Any suggestions?
Hi folks,
I'm new to Dubai, I've a single digit hcp, and living near Dubai Hills mall.
I'm eager to find the best practice facilities available to non members?
It would need a driving range, good short game area (chipping green, putting greens), and somewhere to practice pitch shots.
Your usual friends at Meydan 😀
I'll be in Dubai from the 17th to the 19th, and then back again on the 30th - 2nd.
I'm thinking I'll most likely play Trump Intl while I'm there the first few days, looking for a solid option for the 2nd stint.
From what I've seen online, the Majilis course at Emirates, either of the Jumeirah or the Montgomerie are worth doing.
The first few days we're staying at Atlantis, then on the way back we're staying Downtown.
Any suggestions appreciated :)
I'm looking at getting some lessons to finally improve my swing/game. I know finding a good pro can be very hit and miss (pun intended) so does anyone have a quantifiable recommendation on a pro in Dubai for lessons? Gracias
