I've yet to see any other fem DJs in my area post about their experience with the new AZ, and so far I'm loving mine after making a big jump from my starter DDJ. Anyone else make the leap? How did you feel moving to a standalone unit?
I'm in a FB group for DJs and finding that even when I post thoughtful questions, most male DJs will reply to me with "dude" and "bro" with the assumption that I must be a man if I'm discussing hardware. š§
Hai I recently was inspired to start DJing, I like the techno/trance scene. I'm in the Chicago area and looking to make friends. I'm using a Pioneer DDJ-400. I was also wondering if there are any Discords or community platforms I could join!! >_< TY!
Howdy gals, I would like to hear your opinion about how you all balance being a woman, in the DJ scene and getting older.
I absolutely love DJing and have recently invested a big amount of money in a vinyl setup and records. My DJ career has significantly picked up over the past 3 years, with 2024 having been my most successful year yet.
I am also acutely aware of turning 30 this year. Promoters will book you based on their perception of how many people you can bring in - this used to be mostly my friends. A good chunk of them have stopped going out in the last few years as they are getting married and having kids. Going out to other peopleās club nights every weekend to build a network is becoming more difficult as late nights, stimulants and alcohol are becoming less sustainable while also keeping up a full time job. Music doesnāt pay enough on its own. Trying to build an Instagram following is exhausting. Young people (Gen Z) donāt go clubbing any more because the cost of living is going through the roof. Many have also stopped drinking alcohol. You are less and less likely to get spontaneous walk-ins on a club night. Newspapers are lamenting the ādeath of clubbingā. I am also thinking that I would like to have my own kids at some point, and Iām not sure how they would fit in with this night-focused lifestyle.
That being said, music and dancing have always been my greatest passions and I donāt want to give up on them. So if anyone has any advice on how to handle DJ life while getting older, it would be very helpful. Also if my fate is to go back to being a bedroom and radio DJ, so be it. Music will always be a part of my life.
Iāve been djing since 2-3 years now, had some gigs and a lot of fun but now there are no bookings anymore, been told that āyouāre hype is over darlingā but I think I just need some advice in promoting myself and also a network or a community of people with the same struggles or with advises would be thankful for all. āØ
Hello there!
First of all, I'll start by saying that I'm very passionate about music and curating music journeys for a crowd. I'm a female DJ located in Europe, a dedicated sound collector, producer and events organizer.
I've been DJing for 5 years in my home country. I mostly play at underground events and festivals, my sets range from chill-out coffee shop/ lounge music, to tribal house and even faster music, like high BPM techno and oldschool trance. Right now I live in a city where a big part of the clubs that used to host underground parties closed. The clubs that remained are focused on promoting their resident DJs and you can hardly get a chance to organize something there.
I'm currently a resident in one of the few remaining clubs open to the underground, having regular events (after work sessions, raves, combined arts events) organized by me.
I'm considering to have gigs in other countries too and to collaborate with events organizers worldwide. I want to broaden my horizons and grow in my art. I would also like to be able to make a living as a DJ and event organizer, and if I need to get a day job, I would like it to be something in the music industry. For example what I would love to do is to host a radio show or work in a radio station as a DJ. I have a bit of experience in this area, as I've curated some podcasts in the past, where I interviewed fellow DJs.
So, the purpose of this post is...
Since the nightlife is revolving around networking, I'm looking for ways to connect with other like-minded individuals.
Thank you for reading my story and who knows, maybe we'll collaborate on an event in the near future :)
Just a couple of days of brat summer left! heres a remix i made to celebrate https://on.soundcloud.com/hJ22euu16gR2Q3b38

Hello all,
I would really love some advice on how best to get gigs, i have spent 6 months practicing and improving to the point where i feel a deep calling to share my DJāing on a dance floor.
The main question now is how do i go about getting a gig, i dont mind doing the first few gigs for free either, i have aspergers so socializing and people politics are difficult to navigate.
Also what advice would you give to someone who is starting out?
Thank you in advance
Looking to practice more on CDJs! Would love it to be a monthly thing or so. PM me!!

Hi everyone! Does anyone know some super entry level resources / guides to learn how to use Rekordbox, functions of a deck, & basic bass mixing techniques? Iām brand new to all this! And it seems like the majority of tutorials on YouTube are geared towards house music, where Iām more focused on the bass scene route. Thank you!!
Two of my recent gigs! One was in honor of Dirtybird Campout at the same location itās been happening and the other was a gig in San Jose!
Saw a post on the DJs subreddit about a guy looking for advice on how to pick up women as a DJ.
I feel like DJing has actually been very bad for my love life as a woman. If the person I'm with is not a DJ they grow tired of my working hours after a few months. Sure you get some fans wanting to hook up but I have never been interested in that.
The last years, I've only ever dated fellow DJs haha. I feel like it's really hard to find someone who tolerates the job we do.
What have your experiences been like?

Hey! I started learning to DJ in January and now itās time to put myself out there and make friends. Problem is I live in a small town in New Brunswick, Canada. I travel to Quebec and Ontario a few times a year and Iām dying to do a B2B with someone for a jam sesh. Suggestions on where to meet others who also DJ are also welcome :)
Did any of you get to go the Ministry of Sound concert at the Royal Albert Music Hall? (I think it was last week in London) I just caught some of it on the socials - Amazing!
Hi ladies! I didnāt know there was a subreddit for women DJs so this is my first post. Iāve been DJing since April 2023.
My question has to do with being taken unseriously by people you know regarding your DJing, do any of you have stories?
A few days ago, I did receive a snarky remark from an acquaintance, where he had made a joke about me DJing for an event and saying [redacted as I just realized my face was on my profile so idk who came across this post] and the people just started laughing. I didnāt say anything because it wasnāt funny and I didnāt want to waste my breathe and risk being stereotyped as some sort of "angry Black woman."
Itās not gonna make me want to DJ less because I love doing it, but itās just super annoying. Sorry, I just wanted to get this off of my chest and see if anyone has had similar experiences.
Dear TwoXDJs,
A good friend of mine named Dorota Umeno from back in the 90's, when I started out DJing, has a daughter who is interested in electronic music. She is originally Polish but has been in the US forever.
I got this message from her last week: Our eldest daughter, Annika, chose to do music production as her senior project. And I do mean electronicā¦ She needs a mentor and I would so love it to be a woman DJ/music producer. Would you be willing or able to connect us to someone who could help her? The commitment would be 6-8 hours over 4 months.
They live in California, and Zoom or Skype calls would be fine.
They are lovely people and I'd love to help them out, but currently with seriously ailing elderly parents, my own business to run, family and daughter to tend to and DJing to do, I just can't take it on right now.
Would anyone here be interested? Please let me know. š
Who are you? Where are you based? What do you spin? Equipment?
