This subreddit is dedicated to the free and open source turn-based monster fighting game, Tuxemon.
Tuxemon is a completely free, open source turn-based monster fighting RPG. Tuxemon has been completely written from scratch and contains all original code. In the spirit of other open source clones like SuperTux and Super TuxKart, Tuxemon aims to create an open source game with its own unique style that sets it apart from other monster fighting RPGs.

where do i find the tuxemon forum forum.tuxemon.org does not appear to be active anymore (and there are a lot of broken links in the tuxemon wiki because of that ) ?
I've been interested in the project for a while, though I haven't followed to closely I admit.
If so, is there a way to download the images of the monsters and things?
I would be using the Tuxemon name and connecting as much as possible to the Tuxemon.org site and not claiming I created the characters or names or anything like that. I just want to make a game that utilizes the monsters imagery and naming.
I created a world map of the Tuxeworld ^((or whatever it's called)). You can use this map however you like.
^(Note: The world map is the same in version 0.4.26.)
This is a downscaled version, the original's resolution is 5504 x 3200
Note: There are inconsistent transitions between fragments in some parts of the map. These transitions appear in the game, this is not a problem with this map.
I used renders of the map files, instead of screenshoting.
The team just doesn't go on reddit that often.
By the way, I'm liking what has been made so far. Keep it up folks!
So i recently found this game looking for something to play on my low-power laptop when im out and about.
It should be said that I am mildly adept at Ubuntu, but i still dont know half the things that I do, so i followed the Website
word for word. I got an error telling me that a ?repository was obsolete? or something along those lines. And after installing the game I couldnt update my OS anymore because ?the obsolete repository was blocking it?.
I was able to start the game, it kept crashing when i tried to enter the first house, but i had to uninstall it as i cant have my os not be updateable. Yet I see many post on the forums and this reddit, how do people properly install the game?
I have been working on adding multiplayer support to Tuxemon. I have a post on the official forums with the details.
Hi, I have yet to contribute to an open source project but I'm a pretty skilled developer and know python quite well. What's the recommended way of helping out with this project? Should I fork it on github, do some changes, and then let you know? I just peeked at the github issues list - is this the best place to find some part of the code I could work on? Farther down the road I would be interested in adding A.I elements to the game (anything like human-like npc's and/or monsters that could adapt, etc). I do research in A.I (agent-based, not so much machine learning) and this looks like a fun project to work on when I'm not doing school work. I would also be willing to chat with you on Skype to see where your current thoughts are...
This subreddit is dedicated to the free and open source turn-based monster fighting game: Tuxemon. Tuxemon was started to create an open source game that recreates the same style and feel of the original Pokemon games, but with its own unique twist that sets it apart from the series. Tuxemon is written in Python 2.x using PyGame.
Currently the game is still in very early stages, but nightly releases are posted to the Tuxemon website on www.tuxemon.org that can be downloaded and run. The current release has two maps that you can walk around in that demonstrates some of the functions that have been implemented so far. Maps can be created using Tiled. Right now ripped assets are being used as place holder graphics until they are replaced with original content.
The code is freely available if anyone wants to make modifications or contributions.
