Hi, we are a family of three with an almost 2-year-old who really enjoys spending time in nature and visiting playgrounds. We are relocating to Turku this summer from Oslo and are in search of a nice neighborhood where we can easily spend our days outdoors without worrying about traffic (preferably not too close to major roads), with access to plenty of green spaces and playgrounds for our child. Our budget is flexible. If anyone knows of a neighborhood that fits these criteria, please do share your suggestions. Thank you very much!

Can anyone recommend a nice place to hang out ( maybe watch Eurovision tonight ) in Turku ? What about a disco? Is there a place where people over 30 go to ? Thanks for the help!

Hey, I am an international student, I came to Finland last year. and I have been applying to job applications but still no luck. Turku is a beautiful city, I have been to 5 cities in Finland so far, but I think Turku has everything that I need to get settled here. I have Digital Marketing skills and I have some clients by which I can make my living.

But as an Immigrant I have to have a job in Finland in order to stay in Finland. I have applying to various types of jobs(cleaning, restaurant etc) But no luck yet because I dont speak Suomi very well(I’m taking language lessons now).

Now, if you have any tips or suggestions how can I approach or whats the best way to seek a job placement.

I only started learning programming recently and I am looking for a mentor whom I can discuss career aspirations with and industry insights.

Mulla on kohtuuikäinen (alun perin varsin hyvä ja tehokas) läppäri, joka on nyt alkanut näyttämään hidastumisen merkkejä. Olen saanut ajettua ohjelmistopäivitykset siihen läpi, mutta luulen että koko laitteen avaaminen ja puhdistaminen sekä tarvittaessa joidenkin osien vaihtaminen voisi olla tarpeen jotta siitä saisi vielä kunnon laitteen millä pärjäisi seuraavat pari vuotta yliopistossa. Itsellä ei tähän enää taidot ja uskallus riitä, joten veisin mielelläni ammattilaiselle tutkittavaksi.

Hi everyone! I'm a 32 year old living in Turku, originally from Italy. I moved here a year and a half ago for my PhD, but I've been struggling a bit to find some friends as an adult, any advice? I'm looking for people to hang out with especially now that summer is approaching, as I like to be outdoor (hiking, picnics, camping, beach,..). I'm pretty extroverted and I like to be active: I go to the gym and I started playing basketball and volleyball when I moved here (although I'm on a break now due to a shoulder injury).

I play the guitar and the piano (just simple chords to sing along), and I like festivals, museums, movies and games. I would also like to see more of Turku nightlife and its clubs/bars.

I already checked facebook groups or asked students organizations (as a doctoral researcher I'm still not sure I can join them, and they stop activities in the summer). I don't care about people's age as long as we hit it off.

Despite the effort, I just haven't seemed to really meet or connect with anyone interested in maintaining a new friendship. Any advice is appreciated or feel free to drop a message if you're interested in getting to know me!

I've seen a fair sometimes in kupittaa but I don't know what it is called and how to look up when it is open. Anybody knows anything about it?

It might sound like a weird question, I know it's not open sea but is there a place near Turku with wavy sea? I love going near water but I miss the sound of waves :(

Moving to turku in a couple of months, going to be working in an office and living in the city.

Just saw a weird looking flight object right above the night sky, around 11 pm. It moved too slowly for a regular aircraft and also seemed to drop in altitude. There was also light emitted from the object in every direction which looked really unusual. When I checked on flight radar, there was also no plane showing up.

Did anyone see this and might have a clue what it was?

Was at the labour march and at the front was a green and red flag with white lily(?) on it. Diagonally dissecting red and green sides. Does anyone know what it is? Any vexillologists?

Hello, I was just out of curiosity seeing some real estate websites in Turku, and I came across this 38sqmt https://asunnot.oikotie.fi/myytavat-asunnot/turku/21092132 and this https://asunnot.oikotie.fi/myytavat-asunnot/turku/21161917 which are in the ballpark of 25.000 euros. The description is apparently fine and does not mention anything, just that it is going to be released soon. This sounds like a scam to me, knowing prices in other places in EU and the world.

Does anyone know is there are any legal implications for them? Why are them so cheap?

I will most likely be moving to Turku in July-August for a Bachelors in Engineering in ICT at Turku UAS.

I will be needing to find a minimum of 10 hours of work in order to apply for funding from Kela as an EU student and manage to get a student loan.

I thought here would be a good place to get ask for opinions etc and even for a job?! I will write a bit about myself below but for now, I would be looking for ANY type of work the is minimum of 10 hours a week, I would like more than that too (part time would be perfect).

I’ve got a diverse international background, born in Romania, lived in Greece, England and Scotland. I speak Romanian, Greek and English fluently and on my way to learn Finnish. I have been a profesional athlete/swimmer with many achievements and have graduated from a British University with top grades from a Bachelors of Science in Sports and Exercise Science (with Scholarship). While studying, I was training full time, working on opening a small family construction bussines, and swim taught all ages. For the past two and a bit years I have been working at the University’s sports centre offices and also as an Elite Swimming Coach managing over 40 athletes in Scotland.

I have decided to take a chance and move away from sports as it has always been “my thing”, and looking for something different and “new”. I self studied Maths and applied for Universities in Finland for a change of career! My partner is Finnish (hence Finland). Currently I hold an offer from Turku UAS for ICT and on a waiting list for Aalto University. I cannot afford to sponsor myself hence, I need to find work to suport myself and if needed apply for funding or loan that I will repay back to the country of course.

I would be more than happy to have a chat with anyone that even might know someone that knows someone that knows someone etc that would be hiring. I am a bit more mature and “older” than the normal student (27), have had plenty of work experience in mainly Professional Sports, Swim Teaching, Swim Coaching along world class professionals and coaches, office work admin experience, and partially founding and managing a family owned construction bussines.

I am ,“think I am”, a very self driven and motivated person that can be very serious and professional, but at the same time very friendly and welcoming. I respect everyone and I am well open minded. Plenty of imperfections of course but willing to take a step out of my comfort zone and listen, learn and appreciate what I’m offered.

Hello! I am 26M foreigner living in Turku. Currently I have a job, but things aren't going well there so I'm thinking about searching for a new job.
