Wildfires, or just smoky?

Coming into town tonight, from Marana, all I smelled was smoke, like there were a bunch of fires going on. And now, even at my work at the base of the Catalinas, it feels like the smell is everywhere. Are there any fires, or control burns in the area? I checked online for wildfires, and nothing seems to be close enough for how strong the smell is.

Shady Running Routes

Does anybody have recommendations for shady running routes closer to the south side or central Tucson? Trying to not be limited to morning runs as it’s still so hot out but it’s manageable in the shade.

I need someone to do sugar-skull face-paint.

I'm going to a show on October 25th, and I'd like to have sugar skull face paint.

Are there any locals who you would recommend?

Hair and makeup artist

Hi my sister is getting married in a month and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a female artist to do hair and makeup. It can be someone that does both or someone that just does either. Thanks

Possible fraud: people on Benson Hwy & S Kino Pkwy holding up signs for deceased 7 year old for funeral expenses

I drove by 4 or 5 people with large signs stating a 7 year old died and they need funeral expenses. I looked up child deaths and couldn't find any with a 7 year old. Anyone know anything? Or are these people just pieces of crap 💩??

What happened to Insomnia Cookies?

Last time I went there, there were a bunch of do not enter signs. This was a couple months ago, and on the website, it still says “temporarily closed”. Can’t find any official info about the store being reopened. Are they like permanently closed?

Health hazards: What realtors may not tell me about?

I'm planning a move to Tucson - super excited to join this wonderful community - and would love this groups collective wisdom on what areas to avoid. I find that many cities have secret pasts that make it better for one's health to avoid certain areas. I'm not talking about crime, flood / fire risk etc. I'm talking superfund sites, high radon levels, plutonium pollution, lead pipes, asbestos, uranium slag in building foundations, etc.

What are the areas and risks I should know about?

Which Bank of America branch location has the best customer service?

Hello! I'm trying to resolve issues with BofA and I would like to try and avoid call centers and speak to an employee in person. I noticed that all of the locations have horrible reviews. Have any of you had a good experience where an employee at least tried above the bare minimum to help you? Let me know thanks!

Looking for a Sticker Printer to compete with Sticker Mule

I’m looking for a place to print small runs of 50 stickers for $25 or less.

If I can find something like that here in town they will have my business over and over and over.

One sit down restaurant rec

I'm coming into town next week for a wedding and think that I'll have one shot at a sit-down restaurant. I don't mind the casual stuff and plan on grabbing Sonoran hot dogs and other street food while we cruise around over the weekend, but I want to make sure I'm getting a good experience with the slightly more formal opportunity that I have.

I've never had Sonoran Mexican food, so that's a priority, but the options that have looked the best to me are Guadalajara Mexican Grill, El Charro Cafe, and Mi Nidito. Guadalajara Mexican Grill is the closest to our rental, El Charro looked really interesting when I saw it on top chef a couple years ago, and Nidito has a lot of attention due to Bill Clinton and other celebrities.

Right now I'm leaning towards Guadalajara because it looked really good (even though it's not technically Sonoran). El Charro is my 2nd choice, but mostly due to a slightly longer drive. Nidito looks fine, and I could be persuaded.

For the casual stuff, El Guero Canelo isn't too far. Same with El Sinaloense. fwiw, I'm also a HUGE fan of french fries, so if you know of something really exceptional, let me know!

Not sure what kind of spider it is, but he lives outside my front door :)

Also, don't forget about the insect festival this Sunday!

Hey anyone in tucson want to form a coven?

Im new in tucson and id love to start a coven! Come apply with the following.

  1. why do u feel a connection to magic
  2. are you a good person where u wint hurt no one that doesn't deserve it.
  3. ur willing to he secretive and not reveal anything, not the people or our craft. If u wanna invite ppl let them know the rules and what we are doing.
  4. know that we might not have power like a fantasy novel, but we will find out own way to make power.
  5. we learn the presence of a witch, and no mortal can make us flinch.
  6. we want to explore magic and learn the history but also find our own way
  7. we will never betray our coven
  8. we find a way to be a positive tool
  9. our goal is to balance nature and humans, we want to grow strong as a race, but want to keep nature as the forefront .
  10. we take this serious.

I don't want bs, I want to make a real coven, so don't apply if not serious

Election day in Tucson

I’m from the UK and I’m going to be in Tucson in November for the election. I’ve never been in the states for the election but I want to soak up the atmosphere, do you know if any bars show the election results? What would be the best way to experience election night in the states?

Thanks so much!

Does it smell bad in the neighborhoods near the Los Reales Landfill?

I'm thinking about renting a house on the Southwest corner of I-10 and Wilmot but I'm worried about being near a landfill. Do any of you know if it smells bad in the neighborhoods east of the landfill? Is there anything else to worry about?

Tell me how long you’ve lived in Tucson without telling me how long you’ve lived in Tucson

Update: Omg! I didn’t expect this to have so much traction! However, I’m having the time of my life reading these!
