It’s actually wild how much of a brainwashing cult MAGA is

Not to brag, but my parents are really smart in all lot of aspects of life (my father is a CEO and my mother used to be a nurse). And they were dumb enough to vote for Trump. And yet me, a dumbass 20 year old with multiple learning disabilities who doesn’t even know that much about politics, knows about how horrible Trump is. MAGA really is insane. This cult is gonna be studied in the future

Anyone else feel like we are living in a version of the Handmaid's Tale?

In this version the religious fascists didn't win through war, they won by duping a majority that they were going to make everything better while hiding their true intentions. They've already stacked the courts. Now Congress is in their control. The final step is reshaping the federal government to create a Christo-Nationalist state. Trump only cares about money, retribution, and looking powerful. He doesn't care about all that religious freedom, women's rights, gay rights, social safety net crap. He'll let all his right-wing buddies take care of that.

People are starting to fall in line. Mika and Joe went to Mara Lago to kiss the ring. Cenk Ugar from The Young Turks says he is optimistic. Zuckerberg's been to dinner. That chick on The View who was part of Trump's first admin who was virulently anti-Trump now says she's gonna wait and see how his policies are. Comcast is spinning off MSNBC from NBC News. Fox will be the country's dominant news source.

Once again Democrats straightened things out after a major crisis and once again as things start to improve Trump comes in rides the wave and takes full credit. People will say "Look how good things are....let's keep voting in Republicans."

I'm 63 and I thought that arc of the moral universe King talked about would be so much closer to justice by now but instead, the arc is bending backward.

Whenever I saw Trump flags that said "Take America Back" I always wondered, back from whom? Now I know.

Driving around Washington, D.C. today, I was looking at all the statues , and then I thought of trump putting one ( or more up of himself) like fascist like to do.

I googled it and this picture came up and I thought oh my God I hope this doesn’t give him any ideas.

The coming Trump presidency has me in no mood to decorate or celebrate Christmas in any way

Around these parts, I'm like Mr. Christmas. I wear silly hats and outfits throughout the month of December. We decorate our yard with all sorts of lights and over a dozen inflatables, but this year is different. I have no interest in this. I couldn't care less. And it seems that friends I have don't understand. I'm so depressed about the future and what Trump is going to do to this country. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Vengeance is mine sayeth the Trump…

Soon a narcissistic sociopath will be returning to the White House who is manipulative, power-hungry, lacking empathy, self-centered, has a distorted sense of reality, and is very dangerous.

I don’t give a shit about the FBI or CIA director.

I hate trump but what I’ve learned about him he’s dumb as fuck and the people he hired end up being his enemies. I’m not going to cry over the fbi or cia directors for this reason. I know that there are very fine people on both sides.

My opinion as to why.

I believe we shouldn’t be looking at this election as “Kamala lost because ____” but as “Donald Trump won because ____”. I personally believe Trump won because of rising inequality, the shrinking of the middle class, the system of capitalists bribing our politicians, the race toward global climate catastrophe, it’s all too big for individuals to grasp. When Trump says things like “I am the only one who can fix it”, “it’s the immigrants fault” people take it because they can’t fight the problems alone and blaming the capitalist class seems like a losing battle.

It’s akin to how Hitler rose to power during the Great Depression which hit Germany especially hard because they were backed by American companies who withdrew when the Depression hit. I have a bit of a fascination with how regular Germans came to support Hitler and I see the similarities with maga & Trump, so much so I’ve been keeping a running list of comparisons.

Donald Trump’s rise is a result of problems that are too big for most people to understand or know where to start to fix. They don’t realize that Trump is exacerbating the problems, they know that Trump is giving them someone to blame and “promising to fix it”. People are desperate and willing to believe the lies if it helps them sleep at night without the crushing weight of the problems we all face. They blame those who remind them of the problems.

Edit to add: yes, propaganda from the likes of Fox News played a huge role as well but the overall point is that we are in a time which presents a fertile breeding ground for fascism.

Edit again: Fox News wouldn’t be successful if the populace were happy and content with their lives. Fascism can only become mainstream when it has a propaganda arm telling the populace what to believe.

In over nearly 248 years, there have only been 165 faithless electors, averaging about two every three years. Trump’s actions in 2020 attempted to introduce the equivalent of 129 years’ worth of electoral disruption in just one election.

Yet the left is responsible for election disturbances...

I have been in the process of writing my own article to catalogue and research as much as I can.

If anyone is interested, you can read, help, comment and critique.
