The hold the republican party has on evangelical Christians is insane

As a non American Christian, I find it depressing and frustrating that Christians would vote for the republican party and trump.

American Christians seem to be fixated on voting against homosexuals and abortion rather than what Jesus called his followers to do; people will know you're my disciples but your love. How many times did Jesus tell his disciples to care for those most disadvantaged in society, the widows the poor , the orphans. How many times does he teach us to love our neighbour and that our neighbours are in fact the Samaritan to our Jew? This is a genuine question: aside from the policies around homosexuality and abortion, can someone please highlight the republican policies that are actually supporting those that are most disadvantaged in society?

"Unless their depravity is church business, it's none of your business:" This mindset is why secularists, atheists, humanists, and pagans have been winning the West for the last 60 - 80 years

I stirred up some controversy recently when I talked about wanting to used by Christ to put an end to "ghetto redneck" culture. And the response that I put in the title is the mindset that is causing us to lose our societies to people who hate our God and by extension us. I'm discussing this by American standards, so this applies to white trash, the worst of black ghettos, and cholos. In the UK, these people would be Chavs. I genuinely despise that people venerate this type of culture and the behaviors that come with them.

I want Christians to be victorious over these types of people so that the nation recognizes that there is a God in Heaven and His people reflect His devine nature. Christians should be better than other people; not in the sense that we are inheritenly better but that the Christian now has the grace of God, so the Christian should be morally superior to the unbeliever (and the actions of these cultures I mention reflect unbelief). The grace of God not only saves us but it's supposed to change a person.

The church has opted for empathy rather than sympathy. This mindset has led to sinful levels of inaction on the church's part when it comes to the culture. The rest of the world is seeing us sitting back and thinking that this has no real world application when in fact, it has endless application. Jesus is able to sympathize because He was tempted by sin. He was tempted but without sin. Jesus was tempted but he never got in the pit Himself. That's the only reason why He was able to actually save.

I hate the mindset that thinks the only way to offer any compassion towards someone else to join them in that suffering (meaning doing the same things that are causing them to suffer) or have the same past experience as them. Jesus proves that this is a false assertion. Sharing failure is not a prerequisite for being able to love someone.

I say all of this because I have a family member who is the textbook definition of white trash, even though he grew up in a stable middle class home and chose to become that way once he started hanging out with junkies, who has been in prison since before I was born and is very likely to die in there. And yes he's heard the Gospel before and when I tried to tell him how Jesus would not approve of what he does, his response was "I don't need your preaching boy!"

He has historically taken advantage of family members financially from inside those walls, including the only woman left in my life that actually loves me (she has no concept of boundaries) lying about how gang members were gonna beat him up if a little extra didn't go on his books or something along those lines. The guy even got his own mom arrested over 10 years ago because he convinced her to try and smuggle in tobacco for him. Charges were dropped because she was old and disabled but she was banned from visitation. She died about 6 months later.

I want to break those type of family structures and I want to put an end to the type of culture that enables and encourages this type of behavior because I don't want anybody to go through what I have gone through. That culture has no value for existing and is nothing but a liability for every nation it resides in.

I want to be used by God to destroy "ghetto redneck" culture and bring it under submission to Christ; if not by heart, then at minimum by behavior, so that it would at least be better for genuine believers who are unfortunately stuck in those situations and sometimes that may be forcing a person to change their behavior even if their heart isn't changed because unfortunately a lot of people don;t want a solution; it's no coincidence that Jesus asked the lame man at the Pool of Bethesda if he WANTED to be healed. That way, they're less of a danger to others and themselves. We don't need to let unbelievers, especially those of this makeup, drag us and any culture worth preserving down to death with them.

*EDIT: If anyone has been hurt by people like I described and is tired of being stuck in that cycle, let's discuss ideas of how we could actually bring a peaceful end to this type of culture. Ultimately, the work of salvation and sanctification is up to God but how can they hear without a preacher?

I Want to Be Used to by Christ to Destroy Ghetto Redneck Culture and Bring it Under Submission to Him

The ghetto redneck is its own worst enemy. The damage they cause to other people with their culture and ideologies cannot be counted. I'm discussing this by American standards, so this applies to white trash, the worst of black ghettos, and cholos.

I say all of this because I have a family member who is the textbook definition of white trash who has been in prison since before I was born and is very likely to die in there. He has historically taken advantage of family members financially from inside those walls, lying about how gang members were gonna beat him up if a little extra didn't go on his books or something along those lines. The guy even got his own mom arrested over 10 years ago because he convinced her to try and smuggle in tobacco for him. Charges were dropped because she was old and disabled but she was banned from visitation. She died about 6 months later. In America, prison is Paganism Central. This familial situation has been around literally my whole life and I want be used by God to break his type; lest I feel like I was allowed to experience all of this for no reason than to just suffer through it.

I want to break those type of family structures and I want to put an end to the type of culture that enables and encourages this type of behavior. That culture has no value for existing and is nothing but a liability for every nation it resides in.

I want to be used by God to destroy "ghetto redneck" culture and bring it under submission to Christ; if not by heart, then at minimum by behavior, so that it would at least be better for genuine believers who are unfortunately stuck in those situations. All glory to God, but I want to know that I was responsible for bringing that culture to its knees.

1 Timothy 2:1-2: First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

This is why I want legitimate Christian magistrates who would administer proper justice against their type when it's needed so that we can live the verse above.

Trump establishing loyal military leadership

Reuters reports: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trumps-team-drawing-up-list-pentagon-officers-fire-sources-say-2024-11-13/

Reuters: Trump To 'Cleanse' Pentagon Officers And Generals

Members of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team are forming a list of military officials to be fired. The new list is likely to include members of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.

According to two anonymous agency sources, layoff planning is at an early stage and could change in the process of shaping the Trump administration. According to them, such a decision will be an unprecedented reshuffle in the Pentagon.

At the same time, one of the sources questioned the feasibility of such perturbations in the US Department of Defense.

Everyone close to Mark Milley will “disappear”.

It is not yet known whether Trump himself will support such an initiative, although in the past he has actively opposed the leaders of the defense department who criticized him. During the election campaign, the Republican spoke about the dismissal of "awakened" generals, as well as those responsible for the dubious withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021.

A second source told Reuters that the new administration is likely to focus on American officers linked to former Chairman of the Trump Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley.

This in combination with the choice for SecDef, Hegseth, is a pretty clear change is paradigm for an effective military: loyalty to the CIC above all.

So swearing to protect the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, no longer cuts it. I can't wait to see what the president does with a maga military, a super-majority in congress, and a SCOTUS that will clearly bend the knee whenever possible.

Remembering today

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” — George Santayana.. Remember even the uncomfortable stuff. 86 years ago tonight Jews were rounded up in the night of broken glass — Hitler had been jailed after a coup attempt. He gained power running on Nationalism and fear of various people groups: Jews, homosexuals, Handicapped, immigrants, Poles etc. He said he alone could fix Germanys woes and return it to its former glory. They passed the enabling act increasing Hitlers powers and consolidating it- attacking those who opposed his rhetoric. This disabled the checks as he rose to power. Kristallnacht was unchecked because Germans were convinced “those” people were dragging down their quality of life and he just wanted to make Germany Great again.

2024 was a clean election, just like 2020 was.

Just want to put this out there in case anybody thought there were any shenanigans going on with Trump's relection- from politifact.com

As of 4 p.m. Nov. 7, Trump received 72.8 million votes and Harris received about 68 million votes. In 2020, Trump received 74.2 million votes and President Joe Biden received 81.2 million.

It's not that Trump had a ton more people voting for him. He had fewer, actually. It seems a whole lot of democrats just couldn't be bothered. Of course some folks switched the direction they were going for whatever reasons, but the turn out for Harris just wasn't there. Approximately 13 million just didn't show for the Dem ticket compared to last election.

I can guess why (Gaza, inflation, woke) but it's just guessing.

I want to ask the sub a question though. I was listening to what I supposed were the most neutral news sources and polling I could find. I actually bought a subscription to Ground News, which displays the bias from whatever news sources it cites in an attempt for transparency, which I appreciated, but it honestly seemed like there weren't many reliable, relatively unbiased news sources. There was no way I could trust anything maga sources were saying, and the actual results of the election clearly showed most pollsters had no idea what they were doing.

So look, if you use some source for info that actually cares more about accuracy then their stock price, I'm all ears.

Trump and the New World Order

Something is bothering me. A few hours ago Putin gave an address saying we are creating a New World Order. He welcomed cooperation with Trump.

We know several things right now. Trump and Putin are friends, Putin wants to rule, Trump has major dislike for NATO. He's threatened to leave before.

Could we see Trump make the US leave Nato and join Russia, China, Iran, North Korea in this New World Order they're forming?

Immigration policy

Read a post about how heaven itself has a strict immigration policy. So if it’s good policy for heaven seems good enough policy for a country.

I’m not against immigrants as I am myself an immigrant to the USA but at same time I do think we need skilled people to come and people that can be properly vetted.

America: Between a Rock and a Hard Place

So, the election is settled, and Donald Trump has won the election. Some of you may be happy, some of you may be disheartened. In my case I am also disheartened but for different reasoning. The fact that both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were our two major candidates shows how morally deprived our country is with both being against the common good.

Kamala Harris supporting abortion even to the point of wanting to remove the Hyde Amendment so abortions
will be federally funded. Meanwhile Trump tried to undermine our democracy with the attempt to steal the 2020 election while also acting as the most liberal Republican in our lifetimes on abortion. The RNC has adopted Trump’s policy of dropping national abortion limits and softening language on same sex marriage.

What I would like to know from any who chooses to answer is if there even is a breaking point where voting for
either major party as “the lesser of two evils” does not apply anymore to you and if so what would you do?

I’m wondering: Is Trump a Christian?

I know back in 2016 my father told me he respects religion but he wasn’t a believer. However a few weeks ago Trump started acting like a Christian. I wonder If he changed his beliefs. He’s talking about God more often.

Election day

Election day here in the United States.

This may seem like a dumb question. But I will ask it anyways. Should Christians Vote? Now this is not to say we shouldn't have a political voice, as the prophets, apostles, and early church apologists took to being vocal about injustices and the screwed up thinking of the pegan culture. But they also advocated for our God King, not just some politicians. (Though softened when emporere Constantine came about. Eusebius, the church historian, seemd to equate him with Christ. Atleast in how i read him.) The isrealites advocated to have an earthly king, but look where it got them. But we do have examples of fine politicians with Daniel the prophet, Ezra the queen, and what not. So idk maybe some food for thought to have dialog about it.

“I think you’re at the wrong rally!”

When deciding who to vote for (if anyone at all), vote for the candidate who hasn’t stated out loud Christians aren’t welcome at her rally. I saw it on video myself a few days ago - but every clip of it I can now find has been edited to make it look like she was responding to people calling her a liar.

If Christians aren’t welcome around her, then Christ isn’t. Christ is Lord! At the very least, I stand against those that stand against God Almighty.

Don’t vote blue.

Don’t vote red.

Vote Christian.

Abstaining tomorrow

After 30 years voting, I've decided, for the first time, I'll be sitting one out. I believe abstaining will make a better statement than any protest vote. I've done my part to defend our democracy. It's time for the youth to step up.

What to expect on election night

I feel like a lot of the drama surrounding the 2020 election results could have been prevented had the media done a better job of setting expectations. The general outline for how the vote totals would swing was predicted long before election day, but it was poorly disseminated outside niche media outlets- namely that Donald Trump would likely jump out to an early lead, and then his lead would diminish as time went on. This pattern was anticipated as:

  1. Democrats tended to be clustered in dense urban areas where counting votes takes longer
  2. Democrats were more likely to use mail-in/absentee voting options, as they were more likely to follow COVID protocols which discouraged in-person gatherings i.e. polling stations. These votes take longer to count since depending on state laws they may still be valid even if received after election day (as long as they were postmarked in time).
    1. It didn't take a genius to anticipate that states would be unprepared to handle a dramatic increase in mail-in voting and thus reporting would take longer than usual.
  3. Mr. Trump cast aspersions on remote and early voting and told his supporters that the only way to combat fraud was to vote in person on election day, inflating his election day vote totals.
  4. You would logically expect that early votes would be counted, well, early, but three key swing states (Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania) had weird laws which did not allow the counting of early and mail-in ballots until polls closed. Thus those ballots were counted late, and like mail-in voting early voting favored Democrats for the reasons listed above.

And indeed this is exactly what happened as many of us went to bed on election night with Trump in the lead, and then watched his margin shrink over the following days culminating in Biden being declared the winner six days later. To the conspiratorial-minded it seemed like the fix was in but those paying close attention knew exactly how things would go, just no major news outlet reported it in advance outside the notable outlier of Fox News (!), who saw the trends and correctly called things for Biden on election night.

So with all that in mind, I want to provide an election night primer for what to expect, in hopes that we can all keep a level head, and to cut off any wild conspiracies.

  1. Most pollsters have the vote totals in the swing states within the margin of error, meaning that polling averages have the race essentially tied.
  2. This does not mean that the final electoral count will be close. You would expect any polling error to be replicated in all states, so even a small shift in either direction could result in an electoral landslide.
  3. Historically, polling errors go in either direction. The polls slightly undercounted Trump in 2016, were pretty accurate in 2018, significantly undercounted Trump in 2020, and slightly undercounted Democrats in 2022. So not just is a landslide possible, but a landslide for either candidate.
  4. To further complicate things, there is significant evidence that pollsters are "herding", meaning that they are all suspiciously saying the same thing. This requires some explanation- most polling companies are reluctant to report outlier polls because they know that supporters of the losing party will yell at them- instead its "nothing to see here folks, we think the race is tied just like everyone else!" However if pollsters were being honest, even in a truly tied race we would still expect some outliers- a coin is perfectly fair but you will still have instances where you flip say, 8 heads in a row*. Thus the fact that we are seeing basically no outliers (outside of iconoclasts like NYT and Ann Selzer) means that pollsters are being cowards and herding, and thus the polls are even more likely than usual to be incorrect.
  5. A lot of pundits are trying to take observations from 2020 and projecting them onto present day voting trends to make predictions. This is a fool's errand. First, early voting totals have been historically meaningless for predicting final results. Second, 2020 was likely a outlier because of previously mentioned reasons, namely COVID and one candidate suppressing his own vote. So I would encourage you to disregard anyone who says that since in 2024 unlike 2020 the early vote in X state favors Y party, this means that Y is coasting to an electoral win.
  6. Don't listen to either campaign either. Republicans under Trump have always liked to project strength, while Democrats since 2016 have always wet the bed prior to election night. Doesn't mean anything for either of their prospects.
  7. We hope that states have learned their lessons from 2020 and will have a more rapid count than four years ago. However this is no guarantee; we are after all talking about governments here. Notably Pennsylvania and Wisconsin still have that stupid law on their books where they won't count early ballots in advance (Michigan at least fixed their law).
  8. Finally, although we expect lower volatility, we can still expect swings on election night in who is "winning" because while COVID-related imbalances may be gone others biases are still present. For example women, for reasons we don't completely understand, tend to vote early, and all the data suggests that this is a demographic that heavily favors the Democratic party.

To summarize everyone take a deep breath, ignore all the punditry, and try not to let your mood whiplash too much in either direction on election night. Regardless of outcome, we know God is in control.

*Aside for the biology lovers- this is also why we are reasonably certain that Gregor Mendel fudged the numbers of his famous pea plant studies- they're a liiiiittle too perfect. He was right in the end of course, but he also wasn't being completely honest in his data.

Something about the US presidential election that has been bothering me lately

Its that year again, and it will be soon. This was originally posted on TrueChristian, but I didn't know it was against the rules there, the mods redirected me here. The outcome of this election does not concern me, because God is in control. I wanted to clear that out. I also want to point out that I am very conservative too, and am not in anyway liberal. Now that is out of the way, the way some fellow Christians are talking about this election is concerning me. Many people are viewing Trump as some sort of savior, and that if you don't vote for him you are sinning. I pointed out that Trump can be an idol for many Christians, and was condemned for saying that. I have seen an article that 32 million Church attending Christians will not vote, and they are being attacked by fellow believers because of it. I don't know why they aren't voting, it might be due to lack of political knowledge, or maybe they are following their convictions. It is not up to us to tell them to vote, and it is worse to say they are sinning for not voting. I do believe Kamala is far worse than Trump. But I don't believe Trump is great either, he supports both abortion and homosexuality. Trump is not a godly man, and I can't vote for him because of it. I will vote in this election, probably GOP for most offices, but for president I will write in Jesus. I just think this whole go out and vote , and if you don't you are opposing God thing is wrong, and unbiblical. Sorry if I caused any offense in this post, it is not intended. Personally I would say I am more of a Christian theocrat (Maybe Christian autocrat) rather than Republican, but of course that is not an official stance in America sadly. If you don't vote, you are doing nothing wrong. If you do vote, then vote who you think Gos wants you to vote for. Don't let anyone tell you to go against your convictions. I hope you all have a blessed day, and stay happy during this hard times. God bless!

Seeking Meaningful, Deep Conversations

I’m looking to connect with people who have a passion for deep, engaging conversations. As a conservative Christian, I have a genuine interest in exploring diverse perspectives and complex ideas. I enjoy diving into topics like politics, history, geography, and philosophy, and I believe that hearing different experiences and viewpoints can really broaden our understanding.

If you're someone who values going beyond surface-level chats—whether to challenge ideas, share your thoughts, or simply enjoy a meaningful exchange—I’d love to connect. Let’s start some great conversations!

I think Christians Should consider voting for Trump. I agree with Pastor Mike Winger.

I agree with Mike whole hardly. I am not voting for Trump, because he is a moral upstanding person, no I am voting for him, because his polices line up with my Christian faith. This is in fact the exact reason why a lot of Christians will vote for him.

My religious position on politics and voting in 2024.

By: Pastor Mike Winger

My religious position on politics and voting in 2024. Remember that Bible verse where the apostles were like, “hey, we don’t talk about THAT issue because we don’t mix religion and politics.”?No?Me neither. As far as I can tell, my Christian commitments make me “not Democrat” and expressly require me to vote against such views.

That means voting for Trump, in this election. It makes me pro-life, pro-family, pro-traditional marriage, anti-LGBTQ ideology (which is the loving and truthful position). Among others, these are all Christian positions, not just political positions. In this particular election, all the various, complex issues considered, a vote for Trump (who I do not wholly endorse) seems like the right choice.

While one could abstain, hoping for better future options, it seems to me that doing so pretty much guarantees you won’t ever see better options. I know many people will think I’m an idiot or moral fool for saying this. While I don’t think the same of them, I do think this is the right move for Christians. Nor, if I can anticipate a rebuttal do I think that “love your neighbor” is consistent with the democratic position on ANY issue, including unfettered immigration, which Democrat leaders seem to be using to change the electorate while not actually caring much about immigrants or citizens.

Remember Martha’s Vineyard? Consider even the restrictions on immigration baked into the laws God gave Israel. Compassion within the context of wisdom. If my fellow Christians disagree I hope they can do so without becoming rabid haters. Either way, the choice seems abundantly clear to me, for whatever that’s worth to you. I’m voting for Trump, as much as I don’t like it.
