I'm not sure if these are intended or not, but I've noticed the following:
-Experience potions don't stack. If you collect more than 1 potion, it still only reduces your skills by one turn.
-Polearm Impaling isn't listed on the character sheet and the damage preview doesn't account for it when attacking enemies.
-Theres no bow weapon. I've seen reference to arrows, but as far as I can tell, there isn't a way to unlock them. Maybe I'm missing something?
Love this game. Thanks for making it :)
Edit: looking through Steam change log, it seems the experience potions not stacking is intentional. Also, does anybody know what bonus the adventurer starts with?
Hey! I was looking for a fun simple game to play and kill time, and I somehow stumbled upon Troll Patrol. It’s really great fun, and quite addictive! I love it.
However I have a simple question. How do you beat a wave (or level) and progress to the next wave? I’ve made it to wave 2, but I don’t know what goal I accomplished to make it from wave 1 to wave 2.
I admit that I’m an older guy and not good at gaming, so this might be a dumb question.
Thanks for any help!
Given Reddit's choice to kill 3rd party apps we can't support this platform any longer. We know that this won't have any impact as we are a way too small community for that but we still have to stand by our principles.
While this subreddit will remain open, so that those who want to do so can continue to discuss the game, we won't moderate it anymore and remove all links from the game to it (coming with the next update on each platform).
For official support please continue to connect us directly via email or our Discord server.
Does anyone know what tiny figurine is good for? I can either smash it or take it, but I don't understand it's purpose, it's not obvious.
Seems like every run nets me an "Amazon" trophy, but doesn't seem to unlock enemies / classes, deliver tentacles via slave labor, or really do anything. Am I missing something here?
Today I pushed version 1.41 into production for mobile. They are still in review (and will hopefully be available in a few hours). They introduce one big change: The removal of all ads.
Why?
Our ad provider changed a lot of stuff and one change would have been that there wouldn't be any muted ads anymore and that is not something that we can accept. And their new data policy seems a bit sketchy.
Free version
The free version will be playable as usual but have some restrictions. A few classes and equipment times are not available anymore. Besides that you can still run unlimited patrols (till you die), compete for highscores and unlock everything else.
Full version
All users who already paid to remove the ads will get the full version. We increased the frequency of the scavengers though.
Rewarded Ads
Those are gone too (for the same reasons). Paid users now have faster scavengers to compensate that a bit.
Desktop Versions
The desktop versions (as well as the Nintendo Switch version) are not affected by this change as they never had ads.
This free/paid system might see some others changes in the future but the gist stays the same. The free version will always allow the full experience (unlocks, long patrols, highscores etc.).
Have fun patrolling!
Will the same event have the same outcome for the same selection or is it random?
I.E. will making a list benefit me?
I kind of feel like I'm using the wrong strategy. I go for coins first. Then shields. Then health. Leaving swords. What strategy do other people use?
Oh and I hate when an enemy is stuck in the bottom corner with no matching tiles just killing me.
The game has been released on the Nintendo Switch (as digital download)!
It is currently available in the following regions: Japan, Korea, Hong Kong all regions!
The following regions will follow in two weeks from now (Jan 20th): America, Europe, Australia, Russia
Differences to other platforms:
The game has an overhauled controller support. It will work with the touchscreen as well with the Joy cons (press + and - to switch through the control schemes). Due the platform's requirements all translations that weren't complete had to be removed. So the game will only be available with English and German language support.
Hello,
How do you unlock wands ? It s not even listed as locked.
Cheers
Looks like the developer uses the sub, so I just wanted to say great work on this game! I was addicted to Dungeon Raid back in the day and was so happy to discover this game exists. You've packed it with content! Planning to sink many hours into this game. Thanks!
The flavour text says “heal by 4 points for each killed animal” ... what’s an animal? I’ve been playing for 2 days and have no idea what that means. Actually there’s a few skills I’m not sure exactly how it works from the text. Is there a breakdown sheet of the skills I can read somewhere?
The ads are completely unintrusive too, I was tempted to just keep playing the free version but decided to buy the dev a cup of coffee! Thanks for the great game!
(Here's hoping more content is planned now that the steam version is out :p)
So I'm totally new but already addicted. I've got some questions if you all don't mind answering. Thank you all in advance! For starters, what's "respec"? it's the blue option when leveling up.
After the latest patch, the spikes are bugged. When they destroy a tile, it kinda just stays there and overlays with the normal tile. So for example you have a sword permanently there and the normal potion/shield/gold on top of it.
You have to quit and return for it to load properly.
I have been playing this game on commutes for the past month, and I love it!
I have currently unlocked 98% of the game, and feel like I can't really go past wave 15. Is there something I am missing like a way to upgrade the items I start with (there are achivements for wave 100)?
I also noticed that I unlocked the profession Herbalism but can't find it anywhere under the blueprint section. Is there more of the game hidden behind a wall or something?
Random Thoughts on the game so far:
I feel like the warrior/ambi sword build is much much stronger than anything else I have tried (I have already unlocked everything).
The recent update that saves progress and keeps tentacles was a godsend.
Talent builds for different classes (unlocked through leveling) would create a sense of progress
The same is true for starting item upgrades (improved items or upgrade stones could drop from chests)
It would make sense to add a mechanism of skipping waves if the two remarks above are implemented.
Just started playing the last few days and found a fun build that was also my highest scoring one as well. Warrior start was the only change from base and picked up the skills bomb as an early emergency button, nitpicking, matter of chains and treasure hunter were my main money makers.
It went into overdrive when i couldn't kill a farmer boss and he spawned a sheep, i laughed to myself then after about 5 waves worth of letting sheep spawn and killing them over and over, i hit about 1 million points late into wave 14, roughly level 50 with a ton of loot and money upgrades.
It met it's demise to the update app button in Google play, i continued the run after the update, it started up then threw me back to the main screen with no progress left to continue or anything left in my history. RIP deathhandler, my most broken run yet.
Hey everyone, a few weeks ago someone requested a list about cave upgrades for using tentacles properly, now i am able to do it. So here is the list:

Just wanna ask if anyone has unlocked the mage/wizard/spellcasting class, and what it does. I'm struggling to unlock it, not sure if there's any special requirement other than opening chests.
I've played a bunch of games both as the Newb and as other classes, and whenever I'm not the Newb, I seem to have trouble getting out of the early game funk. I never seem to be offered +xp per kill or +hp per potion when I'm not a Newb, which makes leveling and healing super slow, and then after the first few bosses, I end up falling behind and dying. As a Newb I can consistently pick up some early Wisdoms (+xp), and then start advancing quickly and easily outpacing the bad guys for hundreds of turns.
Hi Fellhuhn, I really like your game and would even pay some more Euros for DLC and cosmetic stuff or sth like that :-)
Your game got some nice feedback on the Something Awful forums in the iOS gaming thread, but some concerns as well, and I want to share this, as I agree:
1.) "The "retire" mechanic annoys me. It pits two opposing goals of progression against each other. I want to progress through a patrol as far as possible, beating previous records. However I have to retire early to ensure that I retain any tentacles collected to progress the cavern.
I think they (should) just let you keep all of the tentacles when you die. Retiring is un-satisfying and doesn't add anything to the game.
2.) "I’m a huge Troll Patrol fan and advocate, and yeah I also can’t see any reason not to ditch the retirement concept. If it’s a good run, ditching it to “bank” a tentacle is either going not happen, or will be done through gritted teeth. And if it’s a shaky run, lemme just play a bit more and see what happens anyway.
I get the idea behind it, but in practice it’s not needed. Just lemme keep my loots, and bump the price of cave upgrades if they really feel the balance needs it. "
As far as I understood it, you already think about adjusting that mechanic, that would be great. Grinding the caves is fun, but to decide between progress or loot simply is frustrating in my opionion and the two SA Goons I quoted feel so as well.
Just want to leave it here. Otherwise, again, I really like your game and hope it gets some/further updates, and I for one won't hesitate to throw some Euros into this :o)
I know I must be missing something but how do I complete this Goal?
I don't see an option in the shop to do this.
Whenever I swipe, there's about a one second window where any future swipes aren't registered. I think it stops listening for input during the animation.
This is really frustrating because I constantly find myself swiping the same set of tiles two or three times.
