Moving to a home in Blountville that is unfortunately outside of Brightridge territory. We need fast, reliable internet because we work from home. BTES (Briston TN Essential Services) was used by prior homeowners. But they have a policy that you have to pay a $500 cancellation fee if you cancel before your 12-month contract is up, and I'm quite nervous about that.
Has anyone in Blountville experienced BTES internet? Is it fast as they say it is? Have you experienced outages?
Does anyone know what time the Christmas Trees are actually lit tonight at Founders Park? I know the events start at around 6pm or something, but lighting is much later. Thanks in advance for any info!
I will be coming to Bristol VA via Virginia Breeze and travelling to Johnson City TN by Uber.
I am a 49-year-old guy.
I am coming to be with my daughter for her winter hols, she will continue in the dorms.
Can any of you suggest cheap places to stay - looking from 14 Dec to 12 Jan. Or alternatively me if any of you are willing to host me.
Also, any recommended car rental agencies in tri-cities?
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
What on earth is everyone trying to buy at the pinnacle Bristol TN today? The line to get into is crazy .
Which Old Navy is bigger? The one in Bristol or Johnson City? I want to go black friday shopping …
I’m looking for an exotic vet who is knowledgeable and experienced with Guinea pigs. Any fellow critter-owners in the area have any recommendations?
Hi guys! I was wondering if any of you had any experience with the VA medical center in Johnson City. I'll be starting there in a few months as a new grad nurse and would love to hear about y'all experiences, whether you were a patient or if you guys worked there! TIA :)
Not really looking for anything special, just cheap, lowes seems to be price gouging this year, picked up a nice Douglas fir last year for $22, now they want $49
Due to the combination of how Helene devastated their farm, new out of town ownership of the King building in JC, and construction in Kingsport, all locations will be closing in December.
They told their staff before they made the news public, so the people that are working for them have some time to figure out what to do next.
If you love MSP, go enjoy it while you still can, and give your server a generous tip.
Hey y'all the city of Johnson City is seeking input on the future land use plan draft. Here is the link for the online part if you would like to participate. https://horizon2045jc.com/get-involved
Hey friends. We'll be closed for Thanksgiving obviously as we need to argue with our family BUT we will be open Wednesday for open mic.
We'll also have a couple of fun shows that you can get Super Cheap Ass tickets to.
We've made Early Bird Tickets half off our typical weekend ticket price AND if you combine that with promo code BlackFriday you will find the tickets are very affordable. If you haven't been to the club before this is the perfect time to come check us out.
*early bird tickets are limited to the first 8 people to buy them.
Hey guys. So we have two freezers (full size) and a split Fridge that is missing its ice making box (it’s most likely around, but we haven’t located it). We’re willing to give it away to someone who needs them. They all work, and I can give pictures. The outdoor freezers need to be cleaned up due to their location on the exterior. Send me a DM if interested. You’ll have to haul them and lift them, but they’re all in somewhat easy places to get to.
The local box near me was destroyed for a second time and it's just empty now. I wanted to donate some things for holiday meals.
*Not looking for places to give money to like Walmart or Food City
Or during the week in general? Tues/Wed?
I've seen a few posts asking about finding a cheesesteak, so I thought I would shout out a local business in Kingsport that just opened in August.
Not an ad, just went today for the first time and was very impressed. One of the best cheesesteaks I've had and it was very hefty for only $12.
It's on Broad Street and Main St in downtown Kingsport. Give it a shot if you're like me and haven't been able to get your cheesesteak fix in the area (and it's cheaper than Jersey Mike's)
They also serve poutine!
Looking to potentially move to the tri city area from Colorado, but we're originally from Alabama. What's the religious atmosphere like? We're hoping to settle somewhere accepting and inclusive of folks who do not have any religious affiliation.
Also open to any other helpful info about the area!
We are visiting the Tri-Cities for the umpeenth time next week and one of our goals is dinner at Dino's in Elizabethton for a variety of reasons.
I understand it's primarily an Italian restaurant but with amazing prime rib on weekends.
We only get one visit. What do you recommend?
Has anyone heard anything about whether there’s going to be a Holiday Shop & Sip this year? The downtown JC webpage has a post w/a pic for the 2024 Holiday S&S, but it still says “to be announced”, & the tab/link doesn’t work.
I’ve been several years in a row & really enjoyed it. Is it not happening this year? Anyone know why?
Hi all! Going to be visiting my brother in the Abingdon/Bristol area several times over the holidays and want a few recommendations.
Mostly I want recs on the best places to thrift while there! I'm especially fond of hole in the wall places that you can find little treasures in.
I'm also getting into aquariums and wanted a rec for a good local aquarium fish store.
Thanks so much!
Looking for a girl therapist I can discuss personal things with
Im more interested in beer stores with the largest selections. If you know a place like Johnson City brewing then I may be interested but I'm mostly looking for a wide variety. I enjoy about every type of beer that is not an IPA. The closer to Elizabethton/Johnson City the better but I'd like to hear what you guys suggest overall.
Since November is gonna be coming up it means municipal governments are gonna be throwing lights at the lampposts, not to mention citizens putting up stuff.
Whose high street/town square do you think looks prettiest lit up? I'm kinda split between Abingdon and Bristol.
I have some family coming in for the holiday. My mom and step dad like to hike and explore outdoors. They have visited some of the popular spots around the tri-cities and done some hiking, but have not really visited Virginia or Kentucky. Are there any day or two day trips they would enjoy to VA? Is the new river gorge a good sight seeing spots and any good hikes there? Is Shenendoah National park easy to reach thereafter?
If so, where would be a good spot for them to stay? Anything else you all can think of close to the region? They don't want anything too far, so probably ~4hr driving time for day trips so that I could possibly go with them on the weekend or that they can go explore during the day while I'm at work up to the holiday.
Also included Kentucky if there is something worth seeing for west-coasters that don't have much access to the region.
Thanks for the thoughts everybody!
