Hi guys - Can you please suggest any supplement, diet, routine, habits that one should adopt or avoid if they want to save their hair (in my case which are already thin and appear to be receeding).
Also, what are your thoughts on these? Do they help with the overall hair health?
Any inputs would be appreciated :) Thanks for reading through.
For some reason almost every prodcut that has stemoxydine either it doesnt have it all, they are discontinue or must order it from an australian depertment store. Anyone know what products actually contain stemoxydine and are available
Hey,
I've noticed a nearly bald spot developing at the back of my head, which is surprising since no men in my family have experienced hair loss. I’ve been a heavy smoker (essentially a chain smoker) for 12 years, which took a severe toll on my cardiovascular health and even led to issues like ED. Research suggests a strong link between nicotine abuse and hair loss, so I made the decision to quit nicotine entirely.
I started using Minoxidil about three months ago. Although I haven’t seen any results yet, I know it takes time. However, I’m curious if Minoxidil can actually help regrow hair lost specifically due to smoking. Minoxidil products often mention that they work for hair loss with a genetic cause. Is there any chance Minoxidil could be effective for hair loss caused by smoking? Or should I stop taking Minoxidil and just save money for a hair transplant? I am getting kind of paranoid because I think I will experience the typical Minoxidil shed but won't see any actual hair regrowth.
I have consulted a doctor and he has specified that I am having diffuse thinning and he has suggested that I should take PRP or GFC.
Did it really works or not?
I've only been on it for a week, is it okay to quit?
Like a lot of others, i fell into the function of beauty trap. I didn't do my research and I fucked myself over. I'm losing so much hair. I used the curly line shampoo (from target) for about 3 months, stopped using it about 2-3 weeks ago and I'm still losing a significant amount of hair. I switched back to Matrix curly shampoo and conditioner. I used to use it and loved it, just got tired of how expensive it got and wanted to change things up. I wash my hair every other day, still lose about a clump of hair when I wash and when I brush afterwards, about another clump. This has been consistent since I noticed the significant hair loss and it hasn't shown to be any less.
Any other women that have been through this, how long did it take for you to stop losing so much hair and noticeably start growing it back??
I'm starting to get a bit worried, I typically have thick curly hair and my hair density is about half of what it used to be. My hair line has major thinning and I know it's caused by that shampoo bc that was the only major change in my beauty products. Any help or advice will be appreciated!
Hello Everyone,
I have 2 questions regarding finastride and minoxidil
I have recently started taking finastride ( 5mg pill split into 1.25 mg daily). I have noticed that when I use the pill cutter, it's not always uniform and some pieces are bigger than others. Can this have any bad effects or is it fine since I'm still taking the same amount weekly?
I have been using 5 % topical Minoxidil solution 1ml twice a day and was wondering if there is a big difference between once a day vs twice? since I can save some money if I use my it once daily.
Thanks for the help
Hey everyone,
Today was my first day applying minoxidil (liquid version) on my scalp, and I had a couple of questions. I’ve read that it’s supposed to have a strong alcohol smell, but mine doesn’t really smell like that at all. Also there's nice fragrance to it and I thought it's odd.
Is it normal for it to to have fragrance? Or could I have gotten a version with a different formula?
Also, I noticed it feels a bit oily when I apply it. For a minute, I honestly thought it was oil, but after about 5 minutes, the oily feeling fades and it’s not sticky. Is that typical?
Am I supposed to spread it using my fingers?
I'm not feeling any itching or burning at all, is that normal?
Thanks for any tips or advice from those of you who’ve used minoxidil for a while

Remember, If you want good advice, post good photos: high resolution, multiple angles, good lighting, both wet and dry.
Mention what changes you've seen. Some people have naturally thin hair.
It's vital to take identical photos every few months. Remember that consistent lighting is extremely important.
Age and family history are worth mentioning.

I’m the kind of person who doesn’t waste time and tells people to skip the fluff and go straight to dutasteride. Let’s be real—some of the arguments against it are so weak you’d think they were made up on the spot. Here’s the hard truth:
Fewer Side Effects: Dutasteride’s larger molecular mass means it’s less likely to crash the blood-brain barrier. So when someone whines about "it being too risky," just roll your eyes. That excuse barely holds water.
It Crushes the Competition: If you’re serious about keeping your hair, DUT is the clear winner over finasteride. The research doesn’t lie, and the results speak for themselves. If you can’t handle that, you’re just living in denial.
And about the FDA? Dutasteride is approved for humans; it just doesn’t have a shiny sticker for hair loss. Big deal. That doesn’t make it "unsafe" or "off-limits." Doctors are handing out off-label prescriptions like candy, and there’s solid evidence showing DUT leaves the alternatives in the dust. So no, choosing DUT isn’t breaking any rules. It’s just the smart move for anyone who actually wants to save their hairline and isn’t afraid to take the plunge.
hey, im 24 years old, last year I went to a dermatologist after I noticed some thinning in my crown and a few my temples, and he advised me to use min, and I listened to him, I used min for about 4 months, the weird thing i noticed is that I had for the first time, low libido, ed, testicle itching and was feeling depressed, all I knew about min is that it could cause some itching and thats it, but after i read online, i noticed that many people complain about sexual side effects only in fin, but it was weird since the only thing added in my life is min and its the first time experiencing those sides, i did some tests, all fine, and when i quit min i went back to normal, I actually was happy of the results of the min on my hair, but sadly had to stop, now im thinking of an alternative, but now fin is well known for sexual sides, which is even scarier to use after i had gone thro that with min, but im so desperate, im still young to be thinning, i cant style my hair without visible scalp, it just frustrates me , what do you think? is it worth trying fin? Do you think there is a third alternative that is safer? or at least in the near future?
Sorry, this post has been removed by the
Ive been on fin for 2 years and started min 2 months ago ish, these hairs were not noticeable before and now there is loads of shorter ones?
As title, I got this lotion in my local pharmacy, minoxidil is 5% and fin 0,3%
But I’m having doubts, it seems a little bit too much of a dose. Is 1ml like 3mg of fin?
I was advised to put a few less drops rather than the full 1ml dose, once per day, anyone following a similar dosage that can share some infos about sides and effects within the blood? How much of it actually goes systemic?
I mean, if you are a responder to topical minoxidil because u have that sulfate enzyme or whatever, how could oral minoxidil ever be better than topical?
topical recommended application is twice a day 1 ml at 5% solution, which is the equivalent of 100 mg of minoxidil applied to your scalp a day.
Oral minoxidil is given usually somewhere between a .625 and 5 mg daily dose.
How could 5 mg of minoxidil ever be better than 100 mg!?!?
I am asking this because I am starting to wonder if I have been bamboozled. I switched to oral minox 2.5 mg from topical a few months ago and I have been shedding non stop since.
Like the worst shedding I have experienced in a long, long time.
My hair is noticeably thinner in ways it never was before, I feel like my hairline is receding. And I can't be certain I'll ever be able to regrow what I lost.
Can anyone justify how oral minoxidil could ever be considered better than topical!??!
How to get rid of the title?
Is there a Minoxidil liquid product that won't do this?
My derma just precribed me 3mg oral minoxidil, so I wanted to know what was your experiences like and get some idea what to expect.
In February I started a oral min and duta stack because I heard it was the best treatments at the time. Before that I was using finasteride and topical min for a year. I’m now 9 months in and my hair is just so much worse compared to when I used finasteride and I’m not sure what to do. I don’t really feel and signs of thickening of regrowth but not sure if I’m just going through multiple sheds or what because it sometimes feels ok / good (but still not anywhere near as good as when I started) then couple days and gets a lot worse again so I’m not sure what to do. I’ve also went back to topical because I noticed heart issues. Now trying to use tretinoin along with my topical but I just don’t understand what’s going on and it’s frustrating to switch to a stronger treatment and for things to get worse.
Any tips or advice would be appreciated
