Did the trek shop forget to add sealant?

Got my first bike, a Roscoe 7, about a month ago and it was supposed to come tubeless. I was trying to pump the tires today and when pushing on the presta valve stem no sealant comes out with the air. Does this mean it’s either set up with a tube or tubeless with no sealant?

Top Fuel 9.7 vs 9.8 GX AXS

Hello I was about to buy the top fuel 9.7 as I tested it in the geometry of the aluminum version of the bike in the shop, felt good, and I really liked the available color (blue).

When it was ordered it was kind of disappointing to get it with the db9 brakes instead of the advertised shimano deore, but I do not think they are much worse from what I could read online.

After thinking a little bit more about it I could put some more money on the bike and get a 9.8 GX AXS which would cost me 1200€ extra.

The problem? I don't really like the colors of that model (matte black or orange). The red one would be cool but costs another extra +500€ which I find too much.

Do you think it would be stupid to get the top fuel 9.7 ordering some extra carbon wheels instead of getting the 9.8 just because of the colors? Is the 9.8 shock and fork noticeably different?

I do not think the drive train would be a huge difference for me as I'm happy with an equivalent to 105 in road bikes and I'm not really craving electronic shifters, but I do not know about the other MTB specific components.

Exchanging bike?

Hi All. Last Septmber I purchased a Verve 2 (after being torn between it and the FX2). I now find myself biking more recreationally in paved wooded trails (in somewhat hilly terrain) and not so much in the city. I find that the Verve (although super comfortable) hard and heavy to use in these trails. I think I underestimated the speed I wanted to have and the easiness of maneuvering...so now I'm thinking of exchanging it for an FX2. My wife has one, and it feels so much lighter and quicker.

Has anyone have an experience doing this after several months of purchasing? Would a Trek store do this? I know I won't get the best deal, and would likely have to shed a few dollars to get the FX2. I really don't want to deal with selling it. Any other option?

UDH Compatibility

Hey there! I've been loving my 2017 Trek Remedy, but I'm itching to give it an upgrade from its current 11-speed mechanical SRAM setup to a 12-speed wireless system. However, with the dominance of AXS parts in the market, I'm curious about the compatibility with UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) on my bike.

Has anyone here made a similar upgrade on their Remedy or any other Trek model with UDH? I'm particularly interested in any insights on compatibility issues, necessary modifications, or success stories with AXS parts.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice! Thanks!

Trek FX3 2024 vs 2023

Hi everyone,

I am torn between the two and 2023 model is 15% cheaper at my local distributor. Would 2024 model be worth the difference? Could I feel the dlfference as a not so experienced rider?

Trek Madone Help!

I (43 F) bought my first bike in 2020--an entry level Trek Alpha 1.2 model. I have loved my bike and while sometimes it felt clunky, it met my needs and I have ridden hundreds of happy miles with it (typically about 1500 miles per cycling season---spring to early fall)! Sadly, the frame has become damaged and the cost of repairs is more than the bike is worth.

So I am now looking for another bike----I think I would like to stay with Trek, having loved my last bike. My budget is between $600-800, and I have found two used bikes within this price range---the Madone 3.1 Shimano 105, and the Madone 5.1. In looking at reviews, the 3.1 seems to rank higher, however, the 5.1 is newer. I would love any thoughts or information on how to make this decision, as I am quite the novice when it comes to bike purchases----I bought my first bike off of 1) it fit in my price range, 2) was comfortable during the test ride, 3) shiny and pretty!

Thank you!

TLTR: Trying to decide between the Trek Madone 3.1 and Madone 5.1

My 5200

Bought the size 62 frameset in 2020 and gradually built it up. It was sporting a 5800 gruppo in silver that I've put from a 90's steel Raleigh, and some Shimano RS80 wheels. Decided to throw some money at it, and that's the result. Shifters are yet to be replaced, but are performing flawlessly. The total expenditure is around 1250 Euro (1340 USD), sans pedals. It weighs 8 kgs with pedals.

Fuel exe people. Range questions.

Hey guys I'm looking at bikes as I have an ancient mtb trek. Love it but it's time to upgrade. I'm just really curious about the fuel exe range. I know it says up to 5 hours etc but I wondered if any owners could share some recent real life rides.

Like cross country and speeds with distance covered and time and how much battery was used or left.

I love the look of the exe but I'm having range anxiety. I don't usually go out for ages but sometimes do a full day pf 4 or 5 hours and wondered if it would cope or what kind of rides I could be expecting to be doing.

Thanks again.

GRX 12 speed Vs 11 speed - same gear range?

Is there any gain with 12 speed GRX if it gives almost the same range of gears with different calibration even on a 2BY?

Trek Checkpoint 2024(46/30 ; 11/36) Vs 2023 (46/30 ; 11/34)

So very slight. Could they have spec'd it to give wider range?

Trek FX Sport 6 or Trek Domane?

Hello all,

Hoping you guys can provide some insight and help me make the right decision.

I want to start biking more, and work my way up to some long rides like a doing a century. I am coming from a 2022 Trek FX3 which I recently sold, and ready to pull the trigger on a new bike. My budget is ~$3000.

I am mostly going to be riding on pavement. The most I rode on the Trek FX3 was about 40 miles and it felt uncomfortable, and like I had to work extra hard to maintain speed. Right now, I am looking at a Trek FX Sport 6, Trek Domane, or a Trek Checkpoint.

My preference would be a Trek FX Sport 6 - I love the way it looks, like flat handle bars, and it seems like it’s easier to just grab and go on a casual ride or for longer rides. I’m wondering if I should just skip the FX and go for something like the Trek Domane or even a Checkpoint (even if I am riding on pavement 95% of the time?)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Edit: Also, should I spend more to get a carbon or is aluminum fine? I don’t want to feel like I need to upgrade by saving money on a ‘starter’ bike)

Verve 2 Lowstep in XL

Today I purchased a used Verve 2 lowstep from Craigslist. The ad said it was purchased in 2020. The ad said it was a Large. When I got there, the tag on the bike says XL 22.5. I was super stoked, I’m 6’2”. Great surprise, does anyone know when/why they stopped making the Lowstep in XL? I suppose it wasn’t a huge seller?

Can someone ID the model and possibly year?

I spotted this bike on Facebook Marketplace. Judging by the text in the post, the in-DUH-vidual knows nothing about bikes, even mistaking it for a mountain bike. The seatpost is clearly damaged by an angle grinder. It's pretty clear it is stolen.

I've contacted the police in the small town location where the seller is supposedly located and the Sergeant with whom I had a very long conversation seems interested in pursuing this case. Since he too knows nothing about bikes, I volunteered to dig-up what I can find. I've also reached out to the thief with a few questions.

The thief's post omits the model and claims it's a 2023, but I think not. I've puroused the Bicycle Blue Book but cannot ID the model and from there, the year.

A little help?

Thanks!

Right between the sizes (58 and 60cm)!

I'm in the process of buying a used Domane SL6, for a pretty good price.

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of trying it out first (it's owner lives on the other side of the country, it can be shipped though), and I don't have a Trek shop nearby.

I'm around around 186cm (about 6'1 1/2") with quite long legs and not a very long upper body. My inseam is around 35" (89cm), and I have quite long arms.

Do you think I should get the 60cm? The size chart recommends a 60cm but I've been reading a lot about going for a smaller size... Am I overthinking this or is the size that important?

for some reference I’m 40 years old and my mobility and flexibility have seen better days. although I’m pretty athletic weighing 68kg.

Information Trek employees won’t tell you!

Hi All,

I am about to pull the trigger on my first new bike in 13 years - the latter 6 were off bikes completely due to health issues.

I am going to be getting the 2023 Domane SL5 Gen4 however before I part with my money I was hoping I could get some information from owners that I wouldn’t get from Trek themselves.

Any info - good or bad about the bike, any stories etc will be taken on and very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Trek Dual Sport 2 vs Dual Sport 3

Trek Dual Sport 2 vs Dual Sport 3, both Gen 5, Equipped, 2024.

Going for Trek Dual Sport because equipped version is just what I am looking for and are available in nearby bike store. Getting bike for commuting and some fun, fitness. Way to work is 95% paved road but fun and fitness will include gravel roads and very light dirt paths. For daily commuting DS3 dynamo lights are more hassle free (but how is light output vs recharhable), it has carbon fibre fork etc. but are they worth extra 260€ for Dual Sport 3€ https://www.trekbikes.com/international/en_IN_TL/bikes/hybrid-bikes/dual-sport-bikes/dual-sport/dual-sport-3-equipped-gen-5/p/40502/?colorCode=grey

Trek Certified Service Center - Do I need this?

I have a Domane SL6 Gen3 that I want to have the Isospeed serviced on both ends. I don't live near any Trek dealers so I looked at the Trek dealer locator and I'd have to travel a bit to get to one. No big deal. But then I noticed that you can select Trek Certified Service Center and when you do that, there are surprisingly few, across many states (I'd have to travel hours to get to one). My question is, for something as specialized as Isospeed service and making sure you are getting the right level of expertise, would you go to a regular Trek dealer or would you seek out a "Trek Certified Service Center"? What makes them special? I looked at a few that came up in a search and each seemed like a really small store, far smaller than some other Trek stores that aren't Certified. Thoughts?

If I order accessories with my bike from Trek.com, are they installed for free?

Like fenders, kickstand, rack, etc.
