I was wondering if anyone knows what the price for replacing the rear derailleur on a stock Marlin 6 would be like? I bought the bike probably 5-6 years ago and finally had a catastrophic part failure (rear derailleur blew up) all these years later. Trying to figure out if it is worth repairing the bike or if I should just replace it at this point. Appreciate any insight!
Since my phone is severely outdated, I cannot use the quik app, and I've been looking for ways to transfer footage over to my phone but nothing works, if anyone has a solution, please help.
it cant even shift gears anymore. the chain always falls off. my brakes are so loud and i hate it so much. its only a year old and so rubbish
Hello everyone, I’m sure this gets asked a lot but currently in the market for a new MTB as a beginner. Decided I wanted a hard tail since I don’t plan on doing crazy jumps (2 herniated discs) but the reason I ask is there’s only $200 price difference. Is the $200 worth it for future proofing or just save the $200 ?
I need the following. 700c road wheel, 130mm spaced, HG freehub, rim brake compatible, front and rear. It's going on a 2005 Trek 1500 SLR.
I would like an aero wheel if possible. If nothing else, just for the cool looks. I tried trek direct, looking at bontragers, but all compatible wheels they either don't have the front or the back in stock...which is rather useless lol.
Any advice? Thank you!
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to buy my first road bike and having a really hard time deciding. After a lot of reading and research, I’m leaning towards the Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4, but I’m still unsure. My main goal is long-distance rides and eventually a half Ironman.
Budget-wise, I’m looking at around €3,000, but I’m open to other brands if they offer good value. Some people have suggested Orbea as a cheaper alternative, but I’ve also read a lot of mixed experiences about them, which makes me hesitant.
Between the Domane, Émonda, and Madone, which would you recommend for endurance riding and some racing? Or should I be looking at other brands like Canyon, Giant, or Specialized? Would love to hear from those who have experience with these bikes!
Thanks in advance!
Well, one reason I did my Project One bike order this morning at my LBS is to lock in the price before any possible tariff news, but will that really work?
As promised, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian non-energy imports this morning, so tonight Canada reacted: as of Tuesday, Canada's retaliatory 25% tariffs start on a first batch of goods that includes "sports equipment".
So when Trek ships that bike into Canada in one or two months, I expect someone has got to pay an extra large and unexpected duty...and it won't be me!
In the worst case the store might try and back out of the deal, but I have my deposit receipt showing the balance owing.
This is going to be interesting!
I will use TPU tubes and was leaning to a 30mm, but could consider 32mm.
I've been riding a gravel bike exclusively for a few years so no recent narrow tire experience.
I was thinking GP 5000 S TR (still OK with TPU tubes, right)?
But it seems that one is not the most robust.
So maybe a regular GP 5000? (But that is only in a 32mm, not a 30mm)
Other suggestions you've proven in your experience (with TPU tubes)?
Hey,
I have a fundraising bike ride in May, from Central Jersey to Washington DC over the course of three days. I’d like to buy a reliable Trek bike, but something also reasonable in price.
I will be choosing a checkpoint today and am torn between the Gen 2 or Gen 3. Can anyone guide me in one direction or the other? I currently have a Santa Cruz stigmata .
Anyone run their Roscoe as a mullet? Contemplating getting a new 27.5 rear wheel to try it out.
This is just a rant I guess, but the new Trek U is such a hassle. I always kept my status right around Guide and could easily do a few modules if I dropped down when I was ready to place an order. But now I have a ton to make up and I used to be able to pass the quizzes pretty easily after a few tries, but that workaround seems dead. Anyone else sharing my frustration?
I’m looking to get my first mountain bike, and the only shop in my country has the two models above in stock, with the last gen 2 version left in my size. I initially wanted the gen 2, but the salesman made some good points about investing the extra cash in the gen 3 instead cos of the upgrades (ie. did his job). I’m a heavy guy at 105kg, and I do want to get a good bike to last a lifetime if possible. I want the bike for running around both in the street and some solid but easygoing mountain biking on rocks and gravel trails a couple times a month. Any suggestions or comments in favour of which I should go for?
hello - I have the chance to pick up this spec frameset. I will be building a crit bike on a budget. I am wondering if anyone has built one up with a standard, non integrated bar and stem and could share some photos? thanks :)
