I grew up seeing this locomotive whenever I went to my grandmas house (it was just a slight deviation away from the route between my childhood home and my grandma's place). I had even played on it when it was in better condition many years back. It deeply pains me to see it in such a pathetic state... I do not know the exact situation surrounding her, including why she has been left to rot like this, but one of the things I wish for most dearly is for someone to buy her and restore her, even if it means taking her out of Puerto Rico. This locomotive deserves better.
(There is a previous post about this locomotive from 3 years ago in this subreddit here if anyone is interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/trains/comments/qwu5sp/baldwin_280_in_levittown_puerto_rico/)
I was looking for appropriate summer activities to keep my rising sophomore’s brain from rotting this summer (too young for employment, too old for camp). I found a program called “Tracks To The Future.” We signed up and he was accepted.

He is at a technical high school in the (Mechanical) Engineering track. He wants to attend Colorado School of Mines. What I’m trying to say is that this isn’t some kind of Trainspotting hobby thing to him.
Anyway, some of the major Engineering universities with rail/transport programs are hosting this program.
There are still spots open at most of the universities so if you know a high-schooler who would like to go, please have them register soon.
Just putting this out there to help someone else’s kid have an opportunity like this.
Which do you prefer and why?
Haven't seen one of these in a long time!
Dirty, but working on the Halton Sub.
I apologize if this sounded rude but this is a sincere question.
Why do you enjoy multiple units?
I’ll admit that I’m mostly a steam enjoyer as I find them the most fun to look at but I do quite enjoy some of the older BR diesels such as the class 33’s or 17’s they all just seem so alive and powerful.
Multiple units on the other hand are quiet and comfortable and while I would much prefer to use them on my daily commute they are less interesting to see.
So please tell me what is interesting about multiple units maybe I’m missing something.
These operators need to learn to stop in time and drive properly.
I don't think this has been done yet, apologies if I'm wrong about that.
This is a map I made combining the exisiting passenger rail network with every major passenger rail proposal I could find details on, to get an idea of how they could all work together to form one coherent national network. The sources I pulled from include:

Line points represent stations and state border crossings. Any line point that isn't on a state border means a station is located there. Not all trains operating on a given line will stop at every station they pass.
Thin black lines represent conventional rail lines, with speeds up to 125 mph. Imagine most current Amtrak and commuter trains.
Medium thickness purple lines represent upgraded, mixed use high speed lines, with speeds ranging from 125 to 175 mph. Commuter, regional, intercity, long distance, and frieght trains may share the ROW with high speed trains in these areas. Imagine the way Acela currently works.
Thick red lines represent dedicated high speed lines, with speeds ranging from 175 to 225 mph. High speed trains will have these areas to themselves to operate at their full potential. Imagine what CAHSR is building.
Many of these proposals lack precise details, so exact alignments and the exact locations and frequency of stations is, in many cases, speculative. I tried to use existing ROW's where possible, but there are several lines that are routed down abandoned or even entirely new ROW's. As most proposals did not list intended station stops, I had to make an educated guess as to where they may be located. When doing so, I considered several factors:
Type of train service
Size of towns along the line
Locations of universities, Native American reservations, and national parks
Station density on other nearby lines
Historical precedent
I hope I was able to get the balance right, but if you see any stations that you don't think belong, or any locations that should have a station but don't, please let me know in the comments. Also, feel free to ask me anything else about my routings, sources, or anything else! :)

Rare catering coach (currently in the UK) available now by negotiated offer or online bidding. Prior to its end of service, it had been used as a sleeper catering coach with ‘loose seating’ for passengers. Recently, the coach has had all external bodyside corrosion rectified and full external refresh. This is an ideal carriage for repurposing for multiple uses. Click here for more information
