Is it a tourist trap or less busy as it is unknown versus mt Fuji?
Or is it a hotspot due to being close to Tokyo? Thank you
I'm going in February 2025, and I tried to buy the tickets on the site and it wont let me, I read others have this issue too. What is reputable way to buy them, I see Klook, but uncertain if it's legit or now, any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Hello, my family will be in Tokyo over Christmas and new year, and we are wondering if anyone has any recommendations for Christmas tea or New Year’s Eve dinner? We are in the shinjuku area, so anywhere nearby would be awesome.
Appreciate any help making our year end trip memorable! Thanks!
I'm a Photographer and will be at Sensoji tomorrow. If anyone wants to have their photos taken, let me know! I can also go to other places in Tokyo.
I'm going on a business trip to Tokyo!
It's going to be my first time in Japan. I honestly feel lost about what I can do there since I will be out at 6pm from work (starting around 8/9am). I'll be staying near/around Akasaka (?). I like taking pictures (not of myself but maybe the scenery), a bit of a foodie. On a bit of a tight budget but hopefully I can work on it. The people I know who've been there tell me to eat mostly at 7/11s cause they're that good but who knows when I'll be back and want a good experience. Different cultures go for different experiences and maybe I'll get some perspective on here what to do best!
Travel Dates: 4 November (arriving around 3pm) - 9 Nov (flight is at 6pm)
Availability: Likely after 6pm
Additional question, what time should I be at the airport when I go home?
Thanks in advance, everyone!
Genuine question, doesn't matter if it makes me look stupid. Saw several examples at the National Art Center and in all over Kyoto. How can one understand this handwriting?
Me and two mates are in Tokyo for the next few days but just saw that Yeat is playing a surprise gig at a club in Shinjuku. We’re all 18 and 19 but clearly it’s 20+ for most of the clubs but not seen much about how strict zerotokyo is for ID’s. Obviously not looking to drink in there but any alternatives for getting in just for the gig? Considered photoshopping photos of passports but not even sure what bouncers would think, any suggestions?
Solo traveler M40 with an overnight connection looking to explore the nightlife of the city on Nov 16th.
Looking for some company hahahah 25M
Looking to use the Airport Bus Alliance but the we site is challenging.
Hey everyone. I’m looking for some advice as a solo female traveler planning to come to Japan 11/29 - 12/8. I just recently completed a solo work trip in SHA and Seoul so this is not completely new to me in terms of being in Asia.
I want to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and see views of Mt Fuji. My interests are doing anything cat related (I.e. lucky cat temple for sure), skincare shopping and affordable premium clothes shopping. And high end sushi (but also at most affordable prices)🐱🧴🛍️🍣
For hotels, I’m trying to find somewhere around $100 a night that still has a premium feel and in a great location (it can be tiny!).
Any advice on where to stay, how long to visit Kyoto, what trains to take, sushi recommendations ETC. would be highly appreciated! 🙏 Thank you!
I wake up early and feel like I have nothing to do but wait until the restaurant or shop I want to go opens.
Are there any recommendations of what I can fill up that time with? I am staying near Ochanomizu and regret not bringing some running shoes with me.
Hi All!
My boyfriend and I are travelling to Tokyo and surrounding areas in Japan in 2025. We are in early planning stages but know that we will be flying from Vancouver > Newfoundland (to see some family) then to Japan from there. It looks like the weather will be cold in Tokyo which is fine with us as it is similar to our Vancouver Winters & we will already have warm clothes packed for Newfoundland as it will be in the -20's there.
Back story as to why we are going: I am half Japanese on my mother's side and her parents were interned in the war and HER mother died when she was young. Neither of us know anything about our Japanese culture so this trip will be a "Cultural awakening" for myself.
Any advice, do's and don'ts are so appreciated! We will definitely be going to Disney Sea and my boyfriend will want to get a tattoo there as well (any tattoo shop recommendations?)
I appreciate any thoughts! Thank you in advanced! :)
I'm in Tokyo and looking for a souvenir for one of my friends. He is big into all kinds of anime, and wants some kind of body pillow case or something with a cute anime girl on it.
Is there somewhere I can find something like that, that he couldn't easily import online? All the places we've visited so far have been more mainstream/"proper".
I'm staying in the Kita Senju area, but have a couple people left to get gifts for, so can travel around.
Hi everyone,
I recently visited Japan and spent some time in Akihabara, where I came across a small shop focused on Hunter x Hunter figures. I loved it, but now I can’t remember the name or exact location and would really like to find it again (and maybe recommend it to other fans).
The shop was quite narrow, with a single aisle, and it was located on the first floor of a building on the main street in Akihabara (to the right if you’re walking away from the station). The counter was at the end of the aisle on the left. What stood out to me was that they sold Desktop x Hunter x Hunter figures—those surprise boxes with different characters—but they were already opened, so you knew exactly which character you were getting.
Does anyone know this shop or have any tips on how to find it again? Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hello all, I will be proposing with a hired photographer in the gardens on November 16th a little before 12:00. I have never been to Tokyo so I don't have any past exerience to drawn upon.
I am hoping you all might have some insight on some great spots within the gardens to do the proposal. I would like to avoid places that seem to be busy like the Kyu Goryotei as I don't want lots of people in the photo (most photos of it show crowds). Do you all have any suggestions on spots? I will of course ask the photographer for suggestions as well, but sometimes the random Redditor knows the perfect piece of info for any situation.
(I'm talking about the private booths karaoke not the public bar-type)
Specially if you don't know enough Japanese.
We (a couple) would like to stay 2-3 hours and order some food and drinks, maybe some sake, depends on what we feel on the day. Rainbow Shibuya has good opinions so I thought on going there. (I accept recommendations!)
But damn, I'm confused. It has so many packages and something called "free time"? I'm not really looking for a deal, just a simple option...
I watched videos and they show you have to call reception to order! Good luck understanding my japanese 😭 I can't point to the menu via phone, is there any way of avoiding that if you want food a la carte?
Also, is it better to book in advance?
What times are the best to go? I'm flexible with the schedule.
Maybe I'm just anxious because I'm travelling soon and it's simpler than it seems, idk.
HELP PLEASE
Our flight is at 8pm and our toddler takes naps at 12-2/2:30pm. He is also not a very good outside sleeper so we prefer he takes his naps indoors. Obviously, the time is already past check-out of our hotel and it doesn't seem practical to book one more night for a few hours' use.
Any day use hotel in the area that you know/recommend?
Omachi station had no taxis to call. This is to visit ishikawa reien.
Planning to visit a Bookoff thrift store and I’m seeing many locations on Google maps. Which have largest selection for men clothing. Any other thrift store recs in Tokyo? Thanks in advance!
I was in Tokyo for four days and was looking for a simple, plain white tote bag with some Japanese writing but couldn’t find any. I’m on my way to Kyoto and will be back in Tokyo. Any advice on where I can find one?
So I’m visiting Tokyo for about a week as a solo traveler from the states. I unfortunately only speak English 😅 and would like to socialize while I’m here. I tried the Bojour Bar and that was awesome but I’m looking for other foreigner friendly places I can meet people. Any cool or unique places I should try?
Hi! I'm an American tourist and i'll be traveling in Tokyo over the Christmas holiday with 3 other friends. We want to celebrate Christmas at a nice steakhouse, ideally in the Shinjuku or Shibuya area. I'm looking on tablelog but I'm honestly a little overwhelmed by all of the options.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for upscale ($100-$200, 15,000 JPY - 30,000 JPY) steakhouses for a nice Christmas dinner? Any help is greatly appreciated!
I had booked the Henn na Asakusa hotel for 70,000 yen because it's good price and good location. But now I realize it will be easier to stay at a hotel nearby the Tokyo station because we we will be arriving from Kyoto. Plus it will be easier to move around the different places in Tokyo. Now I found the Hotel Ryumeikan close to Tokyo station. It's 124,000 yen. It looks good but it's more expensive.
Are you familiar with any of these two hotels? Would you recommend one over the other? Do you think it's worth paying 54,000 yen more to stay at the Ryumeikan close to the Tokyo station?
