I've downloaded it, I can open it fine through unknown sources, but when I try to use the animation it simply doesn't work. I can't make a new layer when I click on it, I can add a new frame, I can still draw but I obviously can't do anything with that since the animation isn't working. I'm in quest 2 if that matters. Any help appreciated
Hi friends I want to paint professionally in VR. I tried tilt brush with vive connected to computer and it was amazing. What standalone VR heat set has the same precision and high definition but without computer. Even if I have to buy additional sensors. Please clarify. I am very grateful for your help
Just the title. My C-drive is about used up so i want to save things on my external D-drive. I have open brush in steam in the D-drive but things still get saved in documents in my C-drive. Any help would be much appreciated.
I was pretty proud it only took like 10 minutes but I am no means an artist. Thought it didn’t look too bad.
hi, i am totally new to open/tiltbrush. i'm looking for a good starting point for modding and general usage. i'm mainly looking for a good/flexible "2d"-paintig app in vr, like kingspray, painting vr, vermillion, and so on, but i don't need the "realism" (like environment, sounds, etc) that these programs provide.
basically i'd like to paint on a freely configurable surface with spraycan-like tools and a convenient way to move around. atm i'm still painting mostly in kingspray, but that looks like it's no longer developed. kingspray has a really intuitive "grab-and-pull"-movement method which i like a lot. the other painting apps are nice as well, but too restricted imho.
so, my question. i want to learn to use openbrush, make it into my main vr painting app and maybe mod it into more of a "surface"-painting tool instead of the 3d "sculpting"-tool it seems to be. or am i wrong? what's the best way to do that? do i even need mods? are there recommended learning resources?
thanks for your time :)
I set up roomscale boundaries on my quest 2, but when I start Open Brush, the boundary lines disappear. After closing the app, the boundary works just fine everywhere else.
How can I see the boundary lines in Open Brush?
Thanks!
Basically the title. I hit "download" in the store, it starts up, then automatically cancels after a couple of seconds. The device definitely has enough space (over 100 gigs free), and it is downloading other, larger programs from the store with no issues. I also tried restarting the headset and the issue remained. Unfortunately my laptop has one of the few GPUs that are incompatible with using SteamVR otherwise I would just do that, but I'm not really sure why it won't download through the store. I read that Open Brush is compatible with the Quest 1, was that incorrect? If it is compatible, how would I go about fixing the issue? Thanks for any help y'all can give.
I saw a guy streaming while painting in openbrush. Now where you select your brushes and paint he had a screen pinned as well. And tha screen showed a browser where he could see the comments people are leaving. He was able to to keep that screen pinner on his left hand the entire time he drew and it stayed stuck as a stack on his left hand.
I can't find the video or his explanation he gave me anymore. Any idea How he was able to do this? He did say he was connected to PC. Could he be using a third party app to do this?
I need it desperately for referencing through pinterest while I paint in openbrush.
Is this possible at all? Haha may be a bit of a tall order, but I run a VR art class (of sorts) and we have two headsets, so would be cool to do collabs. Any ideas? I mean at the same time also. Concurrently creating a piece.
Friends I wanted to check if anyone has used it with new vive’s vr set? I want to draw with high precision, so it tracks my hands. Do I need to buy trackers? If so how many? Or is stand alone set is fine. This is specific to open brush
I'm trying to upload a sketch to icosa so that the model is viewable from a phone/tablet. I've already uploaded to sketchfab but the rendering is clunky and many brushes just don't load. I've logged into icosa via the oculus browser and also exported from openbrush. It says "successfully uploaded" but I don't see to where. When I try to manually upload a file to icosa via the oculus browser, I cannot see the file (but I do see some glt files through the file browser itself). I also downloaded the sketch I got into sketchfab onto the oculus and then uploaded from there to icosa, but the file just comes up blank. Any insight or ideas are greatly appreciated
Any ideas please?
XRossspace is an online space for meetings and events dedicated to XR. Apart from presenting the most innovative Art+Tech works from Poland, this year they have announced a competition to discover the best Open Brush artwork as part of XRossspace 24 showcase. There is a monetary prize involved alongside the feature at the exhibition. Deadline 03/03/24.
You probably already know who is emma from Spatial canvas, one of the most prominent voices in the VR art scene, She deleted some of her YouTube videos and stopped posting on social media.
Does anyone know if she quit or that if she's okay?
I want to draw more elaborated stuff, things that require me to do some drafting, like poses and such, before I can fill in all the details and stuff.
Is there a way to do that? Maybe a sketch brush, or sketch layer that can be toggled on/off?
I've been using the guide tools to draw shapes, but I don't know how I get rid of them. It doesn't seem to have a delete button. Using the erase tool does nothing. I can hide them but I can't find a way to just get rid of them
I'm having trouble understanding how the save feature works.
When I save something, I can see a timelapse but I don't seem to be able to edit the drawing saved.
I want to draw some more elaborated stuff, but I don't have a lot of free time, so I want to be able to work, pause, and come back later. (By saving and closing the app of course).
Is there a way to do that? Or am I just forced to paint everything on one go? :(
Hi Everyone!
I'm with team VIVERSE, HTC VIVE's free and open virtual worlds platforms and I'd like to share a video I made that might be relevant to this community.
I created a quick guide on bringing your Open Brush art to VIVERSE, giving you the ability to experience a shared experience with anyone using a simple weblink .

So um I want to import a model I have on my quest 1 and import it into my quest 2 cause all the projects I have on my quest 1 aren’t on my quest 2 is it possible to import one to the other?
I’ve made a scene, how do I render it out as just as image?
I've been trying to export a painting I've been working on all morning as a 3d model from multibrush on an oculus quest 2. However, when exporting, the glb file won't open in blender or any other application, with blender returning "JSON error: expecting value line 1 column 1" with the STL and wrl files unsurprisingly missing textures or severely deforming the files. I attempted to upload to sketchfab to bring the files over that way, but that just returns "unable to upload due to internal error". I've tried copying to both tiltbrush and openbrush on my steamvr headset but because the apps have different brushes, half of the file just doesn't render.
How can I get these paintings on my computer? It's for a school project.
EDIT: for anyone coming across a similar problem in the future, it has to do with the "labs" brushes. They don't export properly, and won't appear if you copy the .tilt file to tiltbrush or openbrush. Had to go back and change the stroke types on the paintings.
Unfortunate, given that aside from the multiplayer feature the labs brushes (like the lovely charcoal and dry brush) were the main reason I chose this application for the openbrush.
Just started using OpenBrush a few days ago and I made it my mission to try and recreate one of my favourite gaming characters, it’s a work in progress, but I’m really happy with how it’s coming!
