Lately she vaguely mentions all her jobs but never any specifics. I found one article about how she’s work on a Looney Tunes show. What else is she doing? All about supporting her!
There was this airline, where a passenger went to pick up his luggage and got a shock. Someone had taped in big letters "I AM GAY" to his suitcase. He was embarrassed as the suitcase went around the conveyor belt. He went to the news about it, and everyone agreed how childish and rude the incident was.
The theory was that someone on the flight crew did it out of hate. At the time of the podcast, no one knew who it was. This is where Erin and Bryan come in.
Erin knows these assholes front-to-back, in her mind. She knows exactly how they think and how to figure out who it was. Erin proposes sending a teenager in undercover to work with the airline guys. Teenage boys are the best at having a low brow, sophomoric sense of humor, and that's why it will work. Oh and they'll put a fake mustache on him to "age him up".
Next the undercover boy tries to get friendlier with the other guys on the flight crew, taking lots of opportunities to point out things that he finds to be gay. "This is gay, that's gay" Erin acts out. The guys on the crew will confide in him because of his gay-hate.
Bryan is taking the story a lot more serious than her. Maybe too serious. Erin is just so full of herself, wanting to be funny, and Bryan is so flustered at how she's making light of the situation. It's really hard to pick a side either as a listener, you agree it's sad, but Erin is being hilarious.
Erin acts like it's going to work, and Bryan is so mad she's stepping all over his story. And then something really funny happens. It's the end of the undercover scenario. Erin says once they let him in on who did the gay prank, the undercover boy will draw a weapon and yell "Freeze!" And Bryan is so funny. He says with such disgust "Ok, so this boy's carrying a gun with him at all times, ok. Thanks Erin!"
I used to listen to this show religiously. If you listened to it long ago there's probably a lot we could talk about. I used to listen to those episodes several times a piece. I don't even know if anybody's going to see this here. But that's ok. I just feel more like a throwing shade person than a attitudes person.
If any kind soul remembers the number for the episode where Bryan has an extremely rude tour guide, I would appreciate it enormously!
I’m trying to find the episode where they discuss weird shit former bosses said and Bryan had an old boss that, for things that don’t require immediate attention, said to “keep it wet”.
Hi everyone, so, i remember that probably in mid-2017 Brian was talking about some random stuff with Erin, and then he said "sometimes i just look outside my window, and think, look back, and i open the courtains... And all i see is my neighbors trash! And Erin cracks up and goes what happened to your therapist? Hahahah. And we'll, I've been trying to find that episode but i don't remember which one it was :/ same with the one where he sings Thank you for being Sherman (an adaptation to the golden girls intro song lol) Do any of you remember these?
I know they talk about Go Ape Marketing but I can't find it! Any help would be great!
I must have missed when this was discussed, but why are Erin and Bryan changing the name??
Hey all! New member here. I’ve only been listening to the pod for a few months throughout lockdown, but would love to find the episode(s) where Bryan discusses his electric bill!? Any help would be great. Thanks! X
I can’t seem to track it down. :/
With everything happening right now, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's episode coming out. That's all.
I really, really do not want to be That Guy but I think Erin is wrong about Molecule 01, as discussed in last Thursday's episode: either she misheard or she was given the wrong information. Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules is just diluted Iso E Super, which smells sort of like soft gauzy musky creamy sandalwood (and some people can't smell it at all). On the other hand, Secretions Magnifiques by Etat Libre d'Orange really is intended to smell like blood, sweat, semen, and saliva, and it is indescribably foul. Hideous. Unwearable.
Erin, if you're reading this, I will happily send you some so that you can know what it smells like. I have a little 10-mL bottle (part of a 16-bottle set that ELdO did once) that I obviously have no use for.
Anyone know who’s voice is in that commercial Bryan plays where she says “if it’s not on the menu I glare at the waiter and say, improvise! Then I purr.” I can’t seem to find where he says it and I love it so so much.
Hi, The nice big bang Jingle: is it possible to know if it comes from a song or if it was created for the podcast?
Hello Feminasties and Homosensuals...I need help!
On episode 178 right after talking about Bob Jones university for Max Fun Drive they have a long acting skit where we first meet Everly Brothers which always used to make me cry rolling on the floor taking my socks off with laughter. However, since Bryan and Erin are with Stitcher they got rid of old Max Fun skits.
Does anyone have that audio? I will literally pay just to have that clip!
Thanks!
A prior post asked this question but has the answer deleted now. Anyone know which ep this is?? I think it was multiple episode cuz she shut down her shop?
Hi! Does anyone remember which episode(s) Erin does a Casper mattress ad as a ghost?
Hey! Am I right that Erin and Bryan never discussed Leaving Neverland? I don't remember hearing about it and I don't see it in episode titles. I know they talked about the R. Kelly doc, but I find it strange that they didn't address the MJ scandal. Why do you think that is?
Hey, I’m trying to find the episode of throwing shade where Erin talks about her discovering tampon in her hoohaw after two weeks of bad side effects—it was the funniest story ever. Do yall know which episode it’s on??
Hey gang, anybody remember the name of a t-shirt website/fb shop where a woman was selling home-made logo t-shirts with things like "I'm a psycho bitch and I will cut you" or something along those lines haha!
Or if you can remember which episode it was so I can have a listen and find out, that'd be great too :) Thanks!
Throwing Shade Fans! On Episode 79 of the podcast We Are Still Hungry, we interview Erin about her book, feminism, TS and other stuff. It's a great episode! Available on iTunes and Stitcher.
We have two tickets to Throwing Shade this Saturday, 9/22 at the Kennedy Center @7pm. $50 for both.
Seats are Orchestra C J5 and J7 (they are next to each other, the seating numbers are just weird at the Kennedy center.)
We are hoping someone else can use these. My dad is in the hospital and as amazing as this show will be we know we can’t really enjoy it at this point.
Mondo forever.
I'm flying out to California to see my best friend in a couple months. She got a job last year and abandoned me :/ But while I'm there we're going to the San Diego show!
We've both in the years past taken road trips to see TS tour shows. The show is a foundational brick in our friendship and we've seen Erin and Bryan every year they've been on tour!
The San Diego show is 11/1, which is the day after Halloween. I threw out the idea that it'd be fun to dress up like some of the characters they've done in ad reads as Halloween costumes at the show. But we're having a hard time remembering them all.
I was hoping this Reddit could give us a list of (at least some of) the funny folks Erin and Bryan have impersonated and made up over the years.
