Thrash metal is heavy metal that is usually at a higher tempo with influences from punk, speed metal, and hard rock. It's been one of the most successful metal genres, with many platinum albums by the famous bands called the Big Four of Thrash metal which include Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer.
We all love heavy metal but when you need some speed and aggression, in your metal, you go for thrash metal. This is a place for breaking necks, not for slow stuff.

Do not post the Big Four. We know who they are. No covers of the Big Four, either.

Slayer and Metallica are two of my top 6 fav bands (along with exodus which is by far my fav, iron maiden, testament, megadeth).
However my opinion is that both slayer and metallica have bad leads and solos. Metallica is still alright although a bit repetitive and too wah-wah lol; and slayer solos just suck imo - i just can’t see their musical aspect. Do people somewhat see my point or am I alone in this view? Am i missing something?
In contrast, testament and megadeth have some insane leads at least on the older stuff. Exodus is riff-focused but their solos are top notch perhaps with the exception of some albums. Iron maiden isn’t thrash but i consider them the main precursor considering they upped the tempos and had a bit more riff focus than first wave metal (sabbath basically) - but they also have great great leads.
So is it true or am i just not listening to the songs with better leads? Any other thrash bands that have excellent leads?
Chicago crossover thrash
Check it out. What you think?
My top are Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Death Angel
This is the latest song released by my band. Enjoy !!
Hi! Pls recommend some good thrash metal albums and songs without or mostly without the skank/slayer beat, especially from the 80s, something more groovy like Exodus' Brain Dead and Toxic Waltz, Overkill' Use Your Head and Rotten To The Core. Recently discovered Onslaught's album The Force. It's closer to classic metal which is great, but unfortunately lacks the production quality.
Unfortunately I cannot attend. Tickets cannot be resold only gifted. I have two tickets for reserved section C seats 1&2. First person to DM me an email gets them. No charge, only I ask you to post a pic or video from the seats to assuage my sorrow.
Have been wondering about a new album for a while now, has anyone seen or heard anything?
Been looking at some old thrash songs to learn, but got stuck and can’t find any good songs to practice. Any suggestions for some loud/fast songs to learn?
Has anyone here gone to see these bands on the current tour? Is this set list for Overkill accurate? I'm going to see them on the 30th but I'm not too familiar with Overkill. I only have The Years of Decay and Horrorscope.

Thrash bands I tend to enjoy more focus more on the chugs, grooves, and have lower vocals (I loathe that classic metal style wailing / shrieking) and am looking for more bands like that.
The ones in that style I love are Sepultura, Slayer, Testament, but I cant really get into Kreator or Sarcofago.
I also like Thrash-Metalcore / "H8000" style bands like Arkangel and Reprisal.
Doesn't matter how popular they are or what era they were from either, I'm open to almost anything
I want to get a pedal for my guitar but idk which one, I want a distortion pedal sounding like thrash.
So what guitar distortion pedals are commonly used in thrash. Maybe like Metallica thrash era or Megadeth etc.
Thanks for help!
