    A BIG idea for Scarecrow

I generally consider Scarecrow and Poison Ivy to be the two Batman villains with the most potential to be mined, narratively speaking. I've spent some time musing over potential ideas for the characters that could allow for interesting storylines/character exploration.

I thought I'd post an idea here that came to my mind: what if they lean more into a split between Jonathan Crane and Scarecrow by making the former Bruce Wayne's therapist?

Imagine the scenario: it's a story where Batman's still in his early years as a crime fighter but is still struggling to come to terms with both his past (the murder of his parents) and his future (when on earth will the war on crime end? Can it end? Is there a happy ending for him and his city?)

Alfred recommends Bruce to go and see a therapist - a therapist whose name (through the framing of the story) the audience/reader doesn't know. In between the ongoing plotline where Batman is pursuing a new criminal called 'the Scarecrow', we see the therapy sessions unfold and get a deeper insight into the mind of both Bruce Wayne and Batman.

Then would come the twist - the therapist is none other than Dr Crane, and he now knows everything that makes Bruce tick. And perhaps he even works out Batman's identity. This would allow the Scarecrow to truly turn into a nightmarish force - not through his gas, but through his intimate knowledge of Batman's fears and hopes. He's seen the vulnerable side to the Caped Crusader, and he knows how to strike it - hard.

That's my idea. Now, due to my limited comic knowledge, this may perhaps be a type of plotline that's already been covered to which I apologise if that's the case. But it was an idea that popped into my head nonetheless and I wanted to share it.

    What are your thoughts?

What do you consider to be the DEFINITIVE Scarecrow design?

Dr Crane has certainly gotten through his wardrobe over the years to prove himself the master of fear. He's kind of unique compared to the other Batman villains in that he doesn't really have a set design.

But if he was to have one going forwards... which of the pre-existing designs would you pick?

For me personally, I think that his design in Arkham Knight is the closest it'll come to perfection. Sure, he doesn't exactly LOOK like a Scarecrow but imo that doesn't matter. He looks absolutely bloody terrifying.

The gnashed up face. The tattered clothes. The Freddy Krueger like syringe needle glove. The cans around his waist that look like a suicide bomber vest. It's a perfect blend of both traditional and modernised images of fear.

He looks like both the medieval Grim Reaper and modern terrorist rolled into one. Now THAT is scary.

Can anyone confirm Crane’s motives in Batman Begins

So what is Crane’s motive in Batman Begins? I’ve read a few sources that say that his motive was to spread fear and induce panic so that fear could be conquered and peace could be achieved. A few examples say that this is his motive in the movie, for instance here, here, and here. Is this motive specifically stated in the movie?

Cause I know that a motive that is explained in the movie is that he wanted to hold the city for ransom only. But the whole “removing fear to achieve peace” is much cooler so is that something that’s also explained in the movie and that he’d need the money to develop more toxin? Or why else would he be in the need of money? Is that explained?
