Ben Platt sings ‘River’ as part of his recent Broadway Residency & North American Tour

Probably old news now since the Broadway residency ended last month, but he’s been singing Joni Mitchell’s “River” on his current North American tour and it makes me want a season 3 so bad.

Unpopular opinions after rewatching

Rewatching the show rn and I still enjoy it a lot. I'm still in S1 (for context)

First, I think Georgina falling in love with the horse lady was silly. They had zero chemistry. The horse lady seemed so weirdly boring. I don't know if it was bad acting or just her being boring. I saw no chemistry or love between them. I don't know why Georgina was so adamant to run away with her when there seemed nothing special between them.

Skye's character is the most unlikeable character. They didn't give her a likeable quality. It was sad how the openly queer female character was made so unlikeable and annoying.

I think Astrid might be the most likeable character and I think she may be my favorite.

Not totally sure what are unpopular opinions or not but I tried looking it up here and no one seemed to talk about it.

Takeaways?

I just finished watching the show and I liked it a lot, overall.

For me the takeaway was mostly positive. I really liked Payton's character development and that he fought for the "right causes" AND got to be recognised for it. I found very hope-inspiring the premise of people voting for progressive iniciatives. However, I didn't like how easy and how much they portrayed/spoke about killing others... that's something I felt shouldn't be normalized and I don't know if that's truly how the political arena works, but definitely is not the ideal 😅

Anyway, I'm just very interested in what others' experience was and what did you take away from the show.

Season 2 : Ballot Box missing ??/

Just watched season 2 of The Politician - Infinity steals a Ballot Box ??? and they expect us to believe that the election authorities don't do anything about it - really? How is it even possible ?

Secondly, this allot box was supposedly of elderly voters for supposedly voted for Standish. At the end we see Payton's team broke open the box and counted the votes - were for Payton !!! Crazy right ???

I mean I know its satire , comedy etc but this is just crazy.

And ode to The Politician...

Three days ago, I got in bed and opened Netflix, ready to sit with my thumb firmly planted on the down arrow of my remote while the same tired titles zoomed past at an unreasonably fast pace.

But then... I stopped. I landed on "The Politician." I knew I had seen the title before, but it never made me stop. I can't say why, but three days ago, I didn't think twice or watch the clip that started to play. I just began to watch it.

I was immediately enraptured. Payton Hobart. Is he the most self-serving, egotistical son of a bitch you've ever seen? Or is he the most honest, decent guy around? Seriously - you can make a legitimate argument for either side. GEORGINA HOBART! I have not seen Gwyneth Paltrow since a string of Iron Man movies. What a joy she was to watch. As gorgeous as ever, Gwyneth, obviously, isn't Georgina, and yet she. is*. Georgina.* Flippant yet passionate. Calm yet excitable. Wise yet careless. Impulsive yet thoughtful. Oh, and Alice Charles? Though she is stone cold, she has a burning loyalty. Though she is ambitious, she is selfless. I could really go on and on for each character, but I won't. I'll simply say that the writing for each of the characters on the show is distinct and impeccably done. And the cast nails it to boot.

And though the characters stole the show, the plot does not disappoint. It moves quick and flirts with the absolute absurd while staying in the realm of reality. It may be a bit predictable at times, but the execution is just... chef's kiss. I am broken at the thought of this show not getting a season 3, or however many damn seasons it wants.

Anyway. I may be being dramatic here, but I don't think I am. How do we get this show back?!

Judith Light should have been the Emmy nominee

Her concession speech was amazing. When she was crying while watching Peyton play piano, and really, that whole conversation? 😗👌

Will someone eli5 the line, “This is California, okay? We don’t just give everyone antibiotics the second they walk in.” S1 E5.

I’m assuming it’s a joke but I’m not from California. I don’t work in a hospital. I think I just need more context.

Question about Season 1

Spoiler alert. I do not understand, why everyone is so mad in the 7th episode that the main hero didn't go to the police. He said about the problem to the girl, and that girl resolved all problems at her own pace. He already knew that principal didn't believe in the existence of that problem, because Andrew talked to her about it. It seems very logical that he talked to the girl about her problem. She shouted at him, so that's not a good method to involve a person into resolving more of your problems.

Also, he was a victim as well, he was attacked because of that old women as well and nearly died. So why the heck he is a scapegoat? Why was he rejected by Harvard, why was he demonised at school? Is that some crazy American thing? I live in Russia, and I don't know what the heck he did wrong. He told everything to the victim, and victim took all needed steps to resolve her problems. I do not understand, what problems do they have with Payton.

[Spoiler-Alert] Did Alice was a part of Payton and Mcafee's secret plan?

From the episode, it does look like Alice was a part of the plan. Because she's the one who sent it to all of their friends. And this is something I think Payton would never leave up to chance. So I think Alice and Payton came up with this plan to use Mcafee as their mole. What's your theory?

About James, Alice and Payton!!

Why didn't Payton get mad at James and Alice after finding them together? After that, the conversation between Payton and James looked like Payton was insulting James. Then what happened? Later that season Alice also got back with Payton. Don't get me wrong, I love Payton and Alice. I love the fact that she leaves her wedding for him and everything. It's the one thing I can't get my head around in my 2nd rewatch.

Payton Hobart is canonically pansexual, said by Ben Platt himself. I just think that’s awesome.

Meaning of the pandemic of over-communication quote.

In the pilot episode, Georgina Hobart said "Your generation got the terrible idea that it was best to vomit every thought and feeling all over each other. It’s a pandemic of over-communication that’s led to an absence of intimacy." What is the meaning of "It’s a pandemic of over-communication that’s led to an absence of intimacy"? How does over-communication lead to the absence of intimacy?

Who would people’s dream guest star be for going up against Payton in the third season??

For some reason I imagined Neil Patrick Harris as a candidate.

Just finished season 1!!

and really liked it for the most part. I thought the voter episode was a bit dull. And I sort of wish Dusty and Ricardo were in the last episode which I still think was maybe the strongest of the season.

The end of Infinity’s storyline just fell a bit short to me. But I think it was really cool we got a glimpse into what next season will be. I’m going to start it pretty soon, can anyone tease it without giving too much away? 😊 and could we see Dusty/Ricardo again?
