About ION
Drop into massive, alien-built arenas and begin the frantic search for weapons and gear – all while trying to stay one step ahead of the advancing plasma field… or the sights of other contenders. Use your newly found gear to hunt down other players or inevitably face them during the final stages of the match – for The Nyne will only accept one victor. Do you have what it takes?

Threads and comments breaking the rules below will be removed at the discretion of the moderators.
1. Submissions
- [ 1 ] Content must be Islands Of Nyne related. Examples include related images, videos, commentary, discussions, suggestions, lore stories, merchandise, and discussions started by developers on social media.
- [ 2 ] No low-effort content, clickbait titles, rage comics, game trades (or begging for the game or items), or NSFW posts or comments.
- [ 3 ] No trolling or personal attacks. Criticism should be focused on the ideas or comments presented, not on individual users.
- [ 4 ] No drama, especially witch hunts.
- [ 5 ] Posts comparing other games should focus on suggestions and discussion about mechanics to create a dialogue.
- [ 6 ] No blog spam, create a self post with the content. No live stream links as they become outdated too quickly, please only link to videos.
- [ 7 ] No discussion of hacks, exploits, or piracy is allowed. Exploits must be posted to the Official Forums. Or other official reporting sources once Define Human have created such an outlet. Naming and shaming users here is not allowed.
- [ 8 ] Bigotry, racism or any other forms of discrimination are unacceptable and have a zero tolerance policy.
- [ 9 ] Posts duplicating topics on the front page may be removed, especially if there is a marked megathread.
2. Reddiquette
- - Follow proper Reddiquette when submitting and commenting.
- - Keep it civil and do not make personal attacks or use offensive language in addressing others. Absolutely no harassment, witchhunting, sexism, racism or hate speech will be tolerated.
- - Report suspected game cheaters to Define Human directly.
3. Recruitment Threads
- - Recruitment threads are currently allowed. This may change in the future if they get out of control.
4. Moderation
- - Attempting to circumvent moderation will result in a ban. This includes creating / using another account. This will result in a ban from the subreddit.

Pre-Alpha in programs and features
I know the game and DHS are no longer. However I thought I'd hop onto here as I've recently noticed this pre-alpha festering on my programs and features. Whenever I try to uninstall from here, it takes me to steam in which I already have the game uninstalled.
Anyone else notice this or any suggestions?

I just downloaded islands because I saw alot of gameplay last year and really liked it but I just got a PC powerful enough to run it but haven't had any luck in finding games. Is the game dead? Should I just delete it?

Coming to this subreddit always makes me so sad
I used to spend more time on this subreddit than any other back before the devs destroyed this game. I was fully prepared to play basically nothing other than ION for the foreseeable future. But instead of giving us a polished, finished product.... the devs just took all of our fucking money and bailed. It’s so fucked how they treated this community. Not even offering refunds to those of us who supported them on day one. What an absolute disgrace

Battalion 1944 is a fantastic competitive FPS shooter that has received amazing support and communication from the devs since it's full launch. Sad to see how bad DHS fucked up with ION over simple issues.

The devs had everything in their court, they failed to listen to the customers and they paid the price. This is how not to market a game 101.
The devs of this game went from having all the pieces to none in a very short space of time. It's almost like their entire strategy around getting into the limelight was by pricing people out and getting loads of traction by word of mouth and then all of a sudden opening the floodgates on a free to play weekend - However, that free to play weekend came FAR too late.
I'm not quite sure what the goal was. The game started at a high price - sure it's better than PUBG, but PUBG has millions of players, and was the first massive BR game to break into the mainstream. This was a kickstarter. The devs failed to see that their game couldn't immediately compete with PUBG and decided to be stubborn in their ways and try and force it to compete.
This caused a few problems - people like Shroud and DrDisrespect had already said the game was great, and people would've played had it been free to play, thus creating huge amounts of money from skins (some of the skins in IoN are quite nice) - and it would've generated a lot more popularity through word-of-mouth, clips on twitch and generally just having a bigger fanbase.
The fanbase wasn't huge to begin with, with a lot of people 'keeping an eye' on it, but when it starts at $20 and a lot of people are priced out it just begs the question 'Why wasn't it ftp?'. Not only that, but they spent the majority of their profits on some really shitty, pathetic 'partner program', that saw them sponsor a bunch of nobodys to play the game for about 3 days, increasing IoN's viewership on twitch from 20 to 80. Wowsers!
The map, the game and the gunplay are really sick and the game itself is different to most BR's in the fact that its very quick and feels a lot faster. This is the thing that annoys me most - The game is really fun, and it'll always be "the one that got away" in gaming terms.
They had a great game and absolutely no brains on how to market it. This game could've been the next big thing, easily. I know this subreddit has a lot of haters, but I think at one point they were fans - fans that accepted that this game wasn't going to go anywhere after an increasing amount of poor decisions.
TL;DR - The game waited too long to go F2P and the majority of the fanbase had given up on the devs, and it was warranted.

It's funny..
Now that the devs have essentially given up on the game and made it F2P, you can finally get matches continually.
Goes to show what the pricing model should've been all along :/
