Follow the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as a single dad, Beef, does his best to keep his weird bunch of kids close – especially his only daughter, Judy, whose artistic dreams lead her away from the family fishing boat and into the glamorous world of the local mall. Rounding out the family are Judy’s older brother, Wolf, and his fiancé, Honeybee, her middle brother, Ham, and ten-year-old-going-on-fifty little brother, Moon.

Why does Judy always choose the mall over the family boat? Like, we’re out here trying to make a living, and she’s out there living her best life in fake fur and bad lighting. Meanwhile, the rest of us are just trying to catch enough fish to pay for the electricity bill. Classic Judy move. Who’s with me?
i love judy and she’s prob the most similar to me in age and personality in general but beef is my most relatable lol i’m so straight forward it’s actually unreal especially within my family. but i go on and on about the things i love, like this show and always try to make my closest people interested in my interests aswell😂
but MVP is aunt dirt and i aspire to be her level of real and just always knowing what to do despite being in a bunker for 30 years🤣
i didn’t listen in history or maybe i just forgot but what is aunt dirt scared of
I'm Farnklin. Not Franklin, Farnklin. I was inspired by "Aunt Dirtrude" and "Trishup, my angel" from the Autumn if You Got Em Adventure.
Beef can't catch a break! Every time he tries to have a single moment of peace, his kids pop up like they're genetically programmed to be everywhere. You'd think the guy was hiding the last slice of pizza, not just trying to read the newspaper. Can’t we just let Beef have five minutes without a full-on Tobin takeover?! 😩
Enough Said
Crispin and Ham are love. So cute. Couples goals.
But I just noticed the (arguably super obvious) joke in the opening credits: At the moment the song says "catch a fish...", Ham completely fails to catch the fish that Judy throws to/at him!
Gems like these are always worth a re-watch.
It’s my first watch of the show, and I can see that Cheesecake is characterized as the happy-go-lucky town drunk. The episode where he keeps getting Wolf and Honeybee hammered is funny, but the more I see him, the sadder I feel. The episode where he takes Ted Folly’s bear was when I really started paying attention to him. He’s obviously in active addiction, and I don’t see the show taking it seriously.
Right now I’m on the episode where they’re trying to get him a job, and he’s talking about how he drinks at work. Wolf is so concerned about Cheesecake having a job, but by the end of the episode they all go get drunk to celebrate his near-death experience?? It’s not light-hearted comedy for me, it’s tragic.
For a show that prioritizes character development with the main characters, I’m wondering if we ever see some from Cheesecake. Do I just give up on it and accept him as a caricature? As someone who loves an alcoholic, I can’t be the only one that feels this way about Cheesecake.

I spotted two new tweaks to the season 5 intro that I just love. First off, the bear singing "wow" feels like it should have been there from the start. Second, seeing Ham face plant during the snowball fight is totally on brand for him. Loving these subtle tweaks. Anyone catch anything else aside from the usual tweaks (the boat name change and Wolf's t-shirt changing each episode, and the updated board game box for each new season)?
Does Judy still work at the Point And Shoot?
Does Dirtrude still live in the bunker?
So, I wondered if Alaska's law was different on teens drinking alcohol and it wasn't. No biggie with (S3 episode 22) "For Whom the Smell Tolls" it's just an interesting topic to discuss. My parents allowed me to drink in my teens, so not judging. :^)
I was watching SE03 EP19 “Rear Genius Adventure” and right before the end of the episode, Dorothy says something about never meeting her grandchildren and then Henry says he is already an uncle.
I don’t understand the joke. Is it even a joke?
TIA!
he’s such an over thinker and i do relate to him so much, but he’s not normal at all and everyone always clocks him for it especially in later seasons😭😂, i’m just wondering what everyone’s opinions of beef are and if they have any opinions about him really because i find him relatable but i also cannot relate to how chill he can be sometimes …..
Apologies but I made an egregious typo so I am reposting.
Thank you for the "Shrimp Pimp"reply but did you know you can get on from the Hulu shop?
Wolf and HB with the caption "Wolf! No!"
Londra captions "Not now Londra"
Glass of milk and bunch of grapes. You know the caption.
For years Bob’s Burgers was my favorite show. After watching the first season of The Great North that has changed. I still love Bob’s Burgers but something about The Great North is very special to me. That’s all.
I've tried googling when ep 2 of season 5 is airing but I can't find any answers anywhere? Y'all I'm having withdrawals and I just need a light at the end of the tunnel 😫
Does anyone know where to get a calendar? We got a bob's burgers one last year and I want a Great North one for this year.
A keychain, an enamel pin of Judy’s mug, and a super glittery Alanis Morissette pin that is impossible to photograph! It was so incredibly thoughtful of her to pass them onto me!
Alive or dead, what are we thinking? Personally I think alive, and think we'll probably see them before we ever see Cathleen outside of a flashback or story.
So I record the main broadcast on a CRT TV/VCR/DVD combo, as it was manufactured in late 2007, just seven months after the ATSC FCC mandate. As such, it records DTV broadcasts, while keeping the analog closed captions intact.
Then, I edit the commercials by playing the main tape in SP, and utilizing a secondary deck/cassette in SLP. My 1994 Sony flying erase head deck makes commercial removals a breeze!
If you are not Gen X, are there some jokes that don't quite hit? If you are Gen X, did you fangirl/fanboy all over yourself the first time you saw Alanis?
