You can see James' green bag behind his seat, in a drivetribe video from 5 years ago

Here's the video link (skip to 1:55):

Oliver vs James May's Ferrari - which is better? https://youtu.be/cIkyO-L3HIw?si=5_R-QdwaxmO3Qlkl

I wonder if his bag can be found in any other video/special.

I love watching the Grand Tour and seeing them debate over the color of the car. And no matter the tone it's always brown.

Just wanted to say this

Is There a Known Location for the Botswana Cars?

Hi everyone,

I feel like this is the best subreddit related to the trio to ask this—apologies if I’m wrong.

I’m heading to Namibia and Botswana for two weeks in late summer this year, and of course, while visiting those countries, I’ll be camping on Kubu Island for a night (I can already imagine how emotional that’s going to be!). I’m wondering if there is a known location for JC’s Lancia and Captain Slow’s Mercedes in Botswana. I’ve seen various threads mentioning that the producers moved them to a specific location after One for the Road, so I have a couple of questions:

  • Are they still in the same location from filming, and does anyone know exactly where that is?
  • If not, does anyone know where they were relocated to?

Either way, I’ll upload photos of my trip to this subreddit once I’m back—even if I have to go Lancia- and Mercedes-less!

Edit: Thank you everyone for your responses will post updates in the Reddit when I find them later in the year!

[Podcast] Script Editor Richard Porter visits The Intercooler

The description sums up this podcast nicely, so I’ll just post it below. Thought it was worth sharing since he briefly discusses The Grand Tour around the 51:17 mark.

“Dan Prosser and Andrew Frankel are joined in the studio by Richard Porter. Richard, otherwise known as Sniff Petrol, is one half of the Smith & Sniff podcast, former script editor at Top Gear and The Grand Tour and contributor to various magazines and newspapers.

“Dan and Andrew ask Richard about his love of car magazines, how he fell into podcasting, his own cars and so much more.”

One for the Road... 6 months later

Just watched it again for the first time in 2025 and it hit me differently.

Their legacy will live on forever in our memories.

Clarkson, Hammond and May are Top Gear.

Clarkson, Hammond and May are The Grand Tour.

Miss you boys!

I miss the Grand tour

It was always this time of the year that I would re watch the latest episode and today it hit me… we will never have that again. And so I missed the trio a lot today. It’s crazy how people can become attached to seeing those adventures and rejoicing with those 3 men. Cheers! 🍻😢

It hurts watching these two get beat up throughout the Patagonia special

These are a couple of my favorite classic European sports cars and they appeared in rather good condition at the start of the journey. Neither are particularly abundant in number anymore and couldn’t have been cheap to acquire and it stings to watch them get scratched and dented and ultimately abandoned by the end. Anyone else wince at other cars that got the Trio Treatment throughout the years?

Top Gear S14E01. James' 1st onscreen crash. In his Lambo he front-ended a Romanian's Dacia. While minor, this predates the Norway tunnel crash. In that Nordic GT special he did also go thru the ice on the lake. Do we get bogged down in what constitutes a crash?

S5E2 "Eurocrash" route

Hello everyone!

My girlfriend and I were watching the "Eurocrash" special yesterday and are actually thinking about doing their route for ourselves. Has anyone an idea where I could get some detailed information about the exact route that they took?

Thank you very much!

Tried to watch the Caleb special

Think I made it 20 minutes, the last straw was him playing a ten minute clip of Clarksons farm, I can't imagine what people who paid to go to the theatre to see him thought after the third time he disappeared off stage to play a pre recorded bit.

At least the pre recorded bits where still him, but to play Clarksons farm, which everyone who was there would already have seen, seems like the worst form of padding out the runtime.

[Times column] Jeremy Clarkson: “Footballers and pigeons will rule our idiotic age”

Looks like Jeremy Clarkson drew from his personal observations as he wrote this column. Here’s the part that stood out for me:

“The problem we have here is that we may be confusing cleverness with knowledge. Footballers, like pigeons, are instinctively clever at what they do but neither would be able to name the capital of Latvia. Because to answer that you have to know stuff.

“I could bring my farm manager, Kaleb, into the argument here. So I shall.”

(Please note that depending on how and where you access this link, a strong paywall may appear. If so, what happens beyond that is up to you alone.)
