Hi, I cant seem to submit my continuing student scholarship and the deadline is tomorrow. It doesnt show me the submit application button, any help would be appreciated.
As title says, would you recommend being a crew or counselor as a good first summer job? Or should I look for an actual place of employment

Hello! The TTU mariokart team is looking for some people interested in having fun with us and playing on behalf of the university against other universities. Our skill level is extremely varied, from worldwide recognizable players to extremely new players who are just interested in playing the game. We also vary from Freshmen to Senior in classification!
We are looking for enough players to participate in the Collegiate Karting League, a 6v6 tournament where 6 players coordinate items in a COD style call. In my personal opinion it is the most fun way to play mariokart and how I got interested in playing more seriously. We will be playing Sunday evenings during February and March(rescheduling is possible), some occasional scrimmage games, and in-person FFA events. Attendance is not mandatory at all, we just want to gauge interest and help start this team up!
The only requirements are being a TTU student, having a Nintendo Switch with a working Nintendo Online Subscription, and the Mariokart 8 Deluxe game. DLC is not a requirement. I am also willing to help set people up as necessary depending on the wifi/ethernet situation.
You can message me here or reply under this post if you are interested! (I do not use reddit so apologies if I take a while to respond)
Some recent things we've done:
-Travel to University of Oklahoma and win their in-person mariokart tournament
-Participate in the Collegiate 4v4 Tournament and place 3rd/31 universities!
I got accepted into tech , but I was wondering how it is up in lubbock, i would think there's not much there
Hello Everyone,
I am a graduate student transferring into the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I submitted my application on January 2nd and received an email stating that it has been sent to the committee for review. Whats the typical timeline for hearing back about whether I will be invited for an interview?
I have seen some getting a 4000$ departmental scholarship from Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. But, Tech doesn't have any information regarding this scholarships on any of their website. Can any of you tell me the criteria to get these scholarships? Or are there any applications for the scholarships.
Hello everyone I will be going back to my home country during my summer break is their any storage unit at Texas Tech University or elsewhere where i can put my stuff for the summer holidays
Hey y'all,
I just got into Texas Tech for MS in CS and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Simultaneously at the same time received an admit from Stevens Institute of Technology and Rochester institute of Technology for the same program with some scholarships. I understand that all universities offer a different kind of experience, but I was wondering what you guys would do in my position? Texas Tech, RIT or Stevens?
Maybe city won't affect me as much. Just want to have some good experience in all aspects like teaching, research and somewhat affordable with good future opportunities.
I heard of tech village north and found it more affordable then other options ive seen but is it a good place to stay ? are there good roomates?
Another post on here made me curious as to what I'd see in responce to this, so here I am.
Transferring to Texas tech and was wondering what the cheapest possible place to live was within 15 minutes of campus. Thanks 🙏
I'm an incoming freshman majoring in geoscience. I want to minor in environmental engineering, but I don't know if that would be acceptable- because of my major- or if there were some other requirements I had to meet. Any advice?
I’m ranked 90/200 at my school with a ~3.5/4 unweighted GPA and a 1200 SAT score, no essay or recommendations and i’m a in-state student. I started my application late so I just had it submitted today. What are my chances of getting accepted? will being this late make me get rejected?
Anyone know the criteria for merit scholarships for current students? I’m currently a freshman at TTU and I’ve only seen the universal scholarship application. Also does anyone know when we will be notified if we received a scholarship?
(edit) I also am projected to have a 3.81 GPA by the end of this semester, what are my chances at receiving good scholarships?
Anybody know a good place for privacy (in my case, wanting to game without bothering anybody), with a non-student guest? I’d use my dorm, but I don’t want to bother my roommate. Anywhere would work, as long as it’s inside and has wifi and power outlet access. An empty classroom would work but I don’t know of any. Thanks!
Hey people, i have applied to TTU in jan 4 I guess and I haven't got any info regarding the admission decision I have 3.50+ cgpa of highschool and 1300 SAT. I have my VI date booked in starting of march. Can you guys please tell me how much time it took you to get your i20 from the date of application and do you think I will get mine i20 before the march 4? PLEASEEEE HELP guys
Got a message from the office of student affairs today saying that “my name was mentioned in a report made during an investigation into alcohol possession”. I don’t drink nor do I possess alcohol. I’m guessing this has something to do with my old roommate I had last semester, and somehow he involved me. The message said I have a meeting with them next week. Will this be easy or am I cooked?
Me and my roommate, live in Hulen Hall, in a room I wont disclose.
Across the way is clement, a truly horrifying establishment, not in which I believed previously however.
At the beginning of last semester (fall 2024), the room in question, in clement, had nothing out the ordinary happening, It seemed like every other room. It was very much inhabited, clear to us from the nightly opening and closing of their blinds, the sign of night and day schedule.
However, with the closing of the previous semester, about a month before Christmas break, the room suddenly stopped all activity, the blinds become permanently fixed as shut. No lights emanated from the dorm any more, and not once changed from this status. This was till the very last couple of days before finals, when suddenly the room illuminated with what we perceived to be red LEDs, both me and my roommate, however were shocked with this, as the previous tenants never had any LEDs, at least ones they used. We of course, assumed they just returned a long break, or perhaps a change of tenants. Even so, after the light incident, the blinds once again sealed shut into this supposed tomb. for the remaining week. Till before our departure on the final night of the semester, the blinds were swung wide open, when a strange humanoid shape, we've never seen or had anything to compare to in the previous memories of that room, appeared. I have attached an image I took of the "form" let me know your thoughts.
Coming now back from Christmas break, being the 3rd week, once again there is no sign of life in this dorm room. The lights once again completely cut, and the blinds pulled tightly. Looking at the layout of clement, this seems to be room 601.
It could be nothing, however something doesn't feel right.
Is anyone willing to share their experience in the Texas Tech Ph.D in Higher Education program? I'm seriously considering it but I have not found a single review or comment on it anywhere and I don't know anyone that has gone through it.
how is the physics/astrophysics program at ttu?
hi everyone, im currently a junior in high school and I was thinking of maybe taking a AP class over the summer through their summer online courses. wasn’t sure what to do yet, but ideally I was looking for something really easy (A+) has anyone taken their AP courses? please let me know how it went for you!
Hey everyone! I love board games and I'm looking for other students interested in playing them. Nothing set in stone yet, but I'm trying to have a weekly game night. There's also Mad Hatters that hosts a board game night on Fridays. I brought a few games with me to tech to start with, and I looking to eventually start a board game club. Starting a club will give us that sweet grant money to buy more games. Here's a discord link if you're interested!
With the stopping of funding of all NIH, NSF, and other program grants which promote basic science research-- academia may be entering a very bad place.
Purging intellectuals is a common tactic in authoritarian playbooks, and undermining basic science hurts everyone.
How do we respond to such a thing? We're relatively isolated, but this isn't something we should let go unchecked.
Would I be able to get a full ride or close to that with the following stats:
1510 SAT (took it once)
3.97 UW GPA (school doesn't do weighted)
A few STEM related internships and projects
Good amount of community service (including those during the internships)
I'm Nigerian btw
Is there any place or lab at ttu where i can try building some electronic projects ?? Where i would be given access to various electronic components ??
