A place for trans masc, ftm, nb, (etc) people who are starting testosterone to learn from each other. Everyone is welcome - though we're aimed primarily at those beginning T or in the first year of changes from T...........................................................................................
Note! When creating posts about starting T, many members are interested to know what dose you're on and what form of T you're taking so if want to add that then people are into checking that out.

PSA to everyone, CHECK your vials BEFORE your shot day, or early morning/ afternoon the day of your shot to make sure it’s okay to use.
Went to do my shot today around 6 pm thinking “ahh it’s fine that’s not too late” but sure enough today is the day that my re-puncturable, resealable 10mL vial decides to leak, and now T is pooling on top of the rubber stopper. My pharmacy is still open but I can’t refill my own prescriptions. My next appointment where I’ll get a prescription again is in mid January. Sent my clinic a message to hopefully get a new prescription sent over ASAP, but even if that goes well I’m gonna be multiple days late on my shot. This is more of a vent than anything else because I’m so annoyed. I think I’m gonna stop drawing with 18g’s after this lol. I’ve never wanted to stab a one inch needle in my leg any more than I do right now lmao, I feel robbed, especially since I’m only 10 weeks on T and trying to get my levels even.
So yeah, learn from me and maybe don’t leave your vials unattended for 7 days banking on their safety the day of your shot guys 💀.
Can anyone help me understand these results? 21ftm on testogel 2 pumps daily for just under 8 months.
Please tell me this is one of the changes we achieve, holy shit it makes me so dysphoric
so to preface ive been on t-gel for almost a year now and im finally in a place where i can start subq shots!! i just got to wait until my dr does the prior authorization and insurance approves it!!
im really excited bc my levels 3 months ago were 186 and then yesterday at my app they were 173 :(
hoping the shots give me more results that i want!
After months and months of being calmly jealous of the people of this sub I get TESTOSTERONE BABYYYYYY LETSGOOOOOOO
So I started T about 4 months ago, and recently I've been feeling like my ADHD meds don't work. Ive made sure to fix my sleep schedule, and nothing else seems wrong. Im going to talk to my psych about it, but I was wondering if anyone else with ADHD had to adjust their medication dosage after starting T?
Context: Ive been on Concerta for over 2 years now and for some reason now it feels like the dose is way too much... I am soooo tired and groggy all morning and then feel very productive at night when it wears off. It reminds me of when I tried a higher dose and it didn't work out. (Although it can be really hard to tell, and I'm still thinking it could be too low instead who knows). Is there any chance this is T related or is there some weird funky business going on somewhere else in my brain? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar!
So I was doing my shot as usual and when I pulled the needle out, blood squirted everywhere. Like shot out of my leg. I’m surprised I didn’t pass out because it was quite a lot of blood and I’m a giant wuss. Nonetheless, my question here is should I be worried? I feel fine…the shot didn’t hurt which is what surprised me when blood spat everywhere. Is this gonna fuck up my dose?
I plan to start T very soon and I was wondering if anybody has any experiences with taking antidepressants and T together?
From what I’ve gathered so far, It doesnt seem like it’d affect anything negatively, but thought I’d err on the side of caution and ask if anybody noticed anything or knows more
On another note, has being on some kind of antidepressant helped people when theyve started or been on T? Since I’ve heard mood swings can be a problem
would appreciate anybody speaking on their experience or knowledge! thank you
Just to preface sorry if this is hard to understand, I'm just not sure how to explain this without establishing some background. okay.
So, I've been on t almost 4 months now. In the first, like, month in a half I noticed my voice started changing but ever since then I haven't really noticed anything majorly different than the initial change (though my voice dysphoria is incredibly terrible so there's bias there for sure). I haven't really been experiencing any crazy throat pain either.
Couple days ago, I pulled an all nighter and veryyyy much ignored most of my basic needs and didn't really eat/drink anything until the next day (NOT suspecting this was a part of t btw this was for sure a different thing). So like, no food/drink for a solid 13/14 hours? Ever since then, (as in like, for 3 days now) the lower part of the front of my throat (closest to my chest) has been... uncomfortable. Like, not sore or scratchy per say, but sort of like I'm being choked.
Basically, I'm just wondering if this is a lingering side effect of the all nighter or actually my voice lowering. Like, is it always going to be a "scratchy/sore" pain, or can it be anything? (or am i just misinterpreting the meaning of the word "sore"? lol)
thank you! im taking better care of myself right now & was just wondering the specifics of the sensation/location of the pain!
hey all. came out as a dude about a month ago, and i met with my doctor today to start T. first shot down and i am super stoked!!! i just got hungry after! lol. thank you to all my amazing dudes for all the support and love. i would not have been confident enough to take the first shot, without all the incredible folks here
So yes I’m on a low dose and my levels tested low which is likely a huge reason for this. I have an appointment with the doctor soon to help control acne since that flared since starting T. I wanted to control the acne before upping my dose because I’m worried about the acne getting worse otherwise. The only changes I’ve seen are bottom growth, slightly more body hair, oilier skin and acne. I might have a little more muscle, but no voice changes or really any change in face shape. I think me being almost 30 has something to do with it, but I see all these younger ftms getting super masculine faces on T a few months in and I’m worried that I’m going to be stuck with this feminine face shape forever.
So I’m roughly 2 months on T (gel 2 pumps) and I noticed I have two lil chin hairs starting 😁 just had to share my happiness with yall haha I know progress is slow with facial hair sometimes but I was pleasantly surprised
i just celebrated my two years on t-versary (!!!) on the 29th, and when I did my shot for that week i realized i had no more injections needles left. when i first started T i bought my needles and syringes in bulk bc i heard it was cheaper that way, but i had no clue what i was supposed to get. i kept getting the gauge sizes mixed up and for some reason i thought i was doing IM injections not subq (i inject into my thighs). i ended up buying 18g/1in needles for drawing up (no problem there) but then i bought 22g/1.5in needles for injecting.. usually when id do my shot i would only inject the needle halfway because it hurt when i injected any farther than that. there have also been two times where blood rushed out when removing the needle, but im not sure if that was the gauge/lengths fault or just bad luck.
when i realized i had no needles left and no time to buy more in bulk before my next shot i went to my pharmacy and asked to buy two syringes with the needles. i forgot what size i normally use so i looked up what size to use for IM injections, and thats when i realized i was actually doing subq! so when i went up to the counter i asked for 25g needles and they gave me a couple to use for my shot. when i did it today with a 25g/1in needle i was in shock bc of how easy it went in and with no pain!! so now im about to buy more needles in bulk, but this time in the correct gauge and length!! (also ive seen some guys use <23g needles for their injections so i know it works for some people but its definitely not for me, especially with a 1.5 length!)
If you had visible facial hair, about how much did you have prior, how long (months, years) did it take for your beard to become more full, and what treatment format are you on (gel, injection, etc.)? I have some sparseness around the chin area but otherwise my beard connects and I was curious about others experience re: facial hair.
there was never a time in my life where i thought i would ever be able to be secure about myself and confident, or even speak or walk around my area without discomfort. but i really feel like i've grown up. before testosterone i just felt like a 17 yr old trapped in a pre pubescent body lol. i'm so happy i'm so lucky to have good genetics and for it to work so quickly on me. people are nicer to me, i can stand up for myself without feeling embarrassed, and idk, it's just nice i feel like a weight has been lifted. thanks testosterone 😁😁👍👍
(aka 7 months of me not being able to pose straight on for a photo)
I thought I’d share this little timeline since it might be helpful to my fellow low dose-ers
Pic 1 is a few weeks pre T, pic 2 is from yesterday: my 7 month t-versary
I can’t lie, I can’t really see changes yet — and it’s especially hard knowing some things can’t be changed (cries in short)
My partner says I look and sound more masculine, but my family don’t know I’m on T and haven’t commented on anything yet haha… so who knows! Let me know what you think (just please be nice 😭)
hi yall — Nonbinary 22yo here starting low dose T gel tomorrow or whenever i get the courage to (recommended 2 pumps 12.5mg gel but doc says i can alternate between 1 or 2 pumps if i want it to go even slower).
Anxiety is really kicking in. Need to know whether i’ll know that it’s right for me after I start. And also need comfort that it’s not the end of the world if it turns out i’m not ready and have to stop after a week or two.
Flying blind out here, I know i need to at least try this but lack of nonbinary or even just more cautious-minded people’s approach to this is getting to me, and any words of encouragement or advice would be appreciated
Hey yall! my boyfriend starts T tomorrow.. im a little concerned and confused about his dosage. Its a 10ml vial of 1000 MG testosterone, and he injects .25 ml weekly. someone else on reddit told me that seems incorrect. the prescription was called in before labs were even done. everything im reading says the mg should be anywhere between 100-200 mg. What was yalls starting dose? is anyone on one this high?
obviously it’s 18 gauge to get the boy juice tm but which gauge do you guys prefer injecting with? i used to usually use 26 gauge but my pharmacy stopped stocking it so i use 27 gauge half inch needles and honestly they’re not that bad
Just applied my first dose of t gel, I’m on 20.25mg of testosterone (one 1.25g 1.62% pump) as a starting dose and I’m curious when I’ll start to notice any changes. It’s a bit of a dice roll since I probably already have high T for an afab person naturally but it’s still a low dose.
When did you start seeing mood/energy changes? Bottom growth? Those are the ones I know tend to happen fast but I’m curious about everything
I’ve noticed a few changes to stuff like my singing range, a bit more facial hair (I’m also perimenopausal so hard to know which hormonal change it is), warmer, etc but nothing really tangible.
I’ve been annoyed with my phone not recognizing me for Face ID unlocking stuff. And first I chalked it up to new glasses but it hit me this morning, a few people who know I’m transitioning have said they think my face looks a bit different so I think it’s actually maybe change to my face structure.
So funny the stuff you don’t think about being impacted, lol.
Anyone else had to update their phone to recognize their new face?
i use shaving cream and new razors every time, but i still break out and feel, Velcro-y. i’ve been told to avoid shaving in all because there’s no way to avoid it, but not being out around my dads side of the family means regular shaving is necessary. any tips? or aftercare? i’m not really in the place to afford skin care or new things. i have exfoliants and prescription acne cream i’ve not tried. thanks lol
I‘ve been 3 months on T low dose and my t value falls in between female range and male range.
I’m trying to figure out if this is dangerous for bone density or any other issue. Any pointers?
Started T in Oct 2023- Since then I have grown <3cm! I wasn’t expecting any changes in my height because I thought I was too old for that, small wins!!!
Does anybody here have diabetes and is on testosterone? did you have to stop for a while to get ur diabetes under control? how high was ur A1C before they deemed you to be diabetic? (asking this last one bc my a1c is quite high but havent been diagnosed bc of how Planned Parenthood does their testing)
I see my dr at PP on tuesday (the 4th) and i am worried she’s going to tell me i cant switch methods or im going to have to stop or something of the sort bc of my a1c and hemoglobin/hemocrits
any advice is appreciated
I've been on T for just shy of 6 months now. My first three month were on 25mg a week and then we increased my dose to 50mg a week up until now. I had a blood draw done recently to test levels and my doctor says they're a little too high. I sent her a message clarifying that I had done my shot the day prior to the blood draw and that might have effected my levels. Is 977ng/dl too high for peak?
