Any tips for adhesive?

Long story short, I hit a deer and it only damaged the fog log fasteners and this part that slightly pulled away from the bumper. Any ideas on glue I can use to re secure it?

Battery Help

My battery is significantly degraded but I don’t know by how much. I’ve done as much homework as I can — please tell me what I’ve missed.

2019 LR with 117,000 miles so I’m right up against the warranty period. My charging is done with level 2 at home. Always try to keep it between 20/80. Last full discharge/charge from near 0 up to 100 was last month on a roadtrip.

Is it correct that battery capacity should be 75 kwh x 98% usable = 73.5?

Daily commute is 60 miles and I’m burning 32% charge. My trip average, which is also consistent with lifetime average, is 270 wh/mi (according to in-car app) = 3.7 mi/kwh. That puts me at 16 kwh used. Vehicle is idle in between, overheat protection off, etc. 16 kwh/32% gives me 50.0 kwh effective battery. 50.0/73.5 = 68.0% battery health.

I also tried to verify by running the numbers using how many kwh the Tesla app is telling me I’m adding to the battery each night. It varies between 17 and 18 kwh. So let’s say 17.5.

17.5/32% 54.7 kwh capacity / 73.5 = 73.5% battery health.

Still extremely low.

I just downloaded Tessie so will get some more numbers there.

Also will run a battery test tonight in service mode.

What else can I do to get more accurate readings?

The warranty is for 8 years/120,000 miles/70%. If it turns out my battery capacity is in the low 70s, will Tesla service that or am I SOL?

Unpaid charging

I’ve been shopping for a used Tesla Model 3 with an LFP battery online but I’ve seen lots of listing with “Paid Charging Unavailable - Check Unpaid Balance” or “Supercharging Unavailable - Add a payment method” when I buy the car and transfer ownership by submitting documents, will I encounter any errors or problems?

Tesla boombox

Has anyone changed the horn on your recent tesla?

I’ve done everything. I’ve deleted and reformatted the file. I’ve done the file Tesla states to make LockChime.wav, I’ve made the miles like that. I also partitioned the file, but only the cam appears but no sounds. USB appears, but doesn’t detect.

Can someone help?

3+ weeks for ordering an inventory vehicle in Texas?

I placed an order for a Model 3 Performance back on 10/23. Sent in all of my paperwork for registration/trade-in/insurance. Since it's an inventory vehicle I already have the VIN. Since time of order, my estimated window for scheduling delivery has shifted 3 weeks already. I tried multiple times to reach out to via the app for any updates as well as texted the number that provided me updates on the status of my order, but have received no pertinent information as for a time frame. Ended up going to another Tesla service center around my house and the sales associate stated that apparently my car that I ordered is missing it's Monroney label (window sticker for new cars) and they're working on getting that and inspecting the car. Who provides that label for the car?

What I'm curious about is what happens to my trade-in if they can't get me my car before the date of my trade in expiring? Tesla states they give you a month to trade in your vehicle, but what happens if it's not on me and they just take longer? Anything I can do to expedite this?

This isn't my first Tesla, on my first inventory order on my Model Y, I was able to complete my order and pick it up with in 4 days super easy super quick. This experience has been completely different and otherwise pretty crappy.

Looking to buy first EV and have questions about NJ Tax incentives - Please advise

Hey All,

I live in NJ and am thinking of purchasing a used Model Y with cash from Tesla directly. I see the tax credits of $4k that Tesla advertises on its site for a used Tesla, but I also see NJ has a "Charge Up NJ" program that also touts a $4k rebate (or something). A friend of mine who is a little more familiar says these are separate programs.

Does anyone know about these and can anyone help direct me on how to handle one or both of these? New to all of this.

How to track how much the battery was recharged due to regenerative braking? Is this captured under the “going downhill saved” section?

For example, today I have been driving on normal roads, no serious downhills that I recall, but it’s saying that going downhill saved 4%. Makes me wonder if the savings from regenerative braking are amalgamated under the going downhill number.

If they’re not there, how can I tell how much battery I’m recharging by using regenerative braking?

Advice on new tires for Tesla Model 3

It’s time to replace the tires on my 2023 Tesla Model 3 (pre-facelift version). Could you recommend some all-season tires that offer good value for money? I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I also want to avoid installing something of poor quality. I’m not interested in tires that offer particularly “sporty” performance; rather, I’m looking for features that help reduce energy consumption, are all-season, and support speeds of at least 170 km/h (106 mph).

Thank you!

Camera Preview Skipping

21M3LR HW3+Intel

Following a SC visit where the front camera housing was cleaned. I also asked them to look into an issue I’ve been having where the repeater and back up camera previews are skipping and lagging while driving.

The SC said they re calibrated the cameras and ran tests and determined there is no hardware fault on the cameras and they are operating as intended. What confused me is they noted “multiple drives” to try and replicate my issue but couldn’t. However on my way home i noticed it right away.

I plan on opening another Service request and including videos I’ve taken of the issue since picking the car up. I’m thankfully still under warranty currently.

If it’s not camera hardware failing, possible issue with my MCU? Has anyone else had this issue?

CPO M3LR with accident history failed state safety inspection

CPO 3 with accident history failed state safety inspection

For context: Used CPO 3LR with 36K miles and accident history (moderate, no deployed airbags according to autocheck) failed Maryland state safety inspection. I was supposed to pick it up yesterday but it failed the safety inspection and I was not told what it failed. I have already secured financing and did all my tasks, is this a sign to cancel the order?

Thanks, kinda anxious

home location unlock walkaway not working

I have reset my home address multiple times. Checked and unchecked the lock settings. It shows my Tesla in exactly the right place. I have reset home address while sitting in the garage. It still doesn't think I'm home. In my charge scheduling panel, it shows me at "Other Location" not Home. Been trying this for a few weeks. Any ideas?

How do I get the in stock inventory discount? I am cornfused

I am reading about and know of a person that got 3k off their new Model Y a little while back for taking one "off the lot". Looking at Teslas site I cannot determine a way to find vehicles that are physically on the property. I have even found some Demo models but I do not see a discount reflected in the pricing, and even it says "In Transit"

What am I doing wrong? My "local" dealer isn't local I can't just stop in or drive by and see what's there. I read that trying to call in to these people is also frustrating so what's the move?

Right now I am at the point where I will likely need to go schedule a test drive and ask someone there.

Guide to Privacy and Security with Tesla

Controlling who has access to your information in today's world has two main factors, digital and physical. This becomes especially important with your Tesla account and having the ability to control your vehicle directly from a mobile app. I've put together this guide that covers both digital and physical factors for you to consider and protect yourself. Please note, some features or abilities may not be available to your specific vehicle due to the many changes that have occurred over the course of updates Tesla has made to their fleet.

I tried to capture all of the main points under each section, did I miss any you think are important? If so, let me know and I can edit the post to add it to the list. I hope you find this helpful or learned something new!

Digital Privacy & Security:

  1. Password - Don't use the same password you have set up for other items, like email or social media websites. This helps prevent nefarious folks from using data dumps that contain credentials stole from other companies from trying to login to your account. This also goes without saying, don't share your password with others. If you want to change your password you can do this via the Tesla mobile app or on the Tesla website as outlined here.
  2. Two Factor Authentication - I consider this a must do to protect unauthorized access to your Tesla account. You can set this up in your account via a mobile device or desktop and instructions can be found on Tesla's website here. You can use your preferred choice of authentication app (for example Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, etc). Anytime you sign into your Tesla account with your credentials you will be prompted to enter a code that you will obtain from the authentication app in order to verify its actually you signing in.
  3. Account Sharing - Don't share your account with someone else, rather add them as a driver to have access to the vehicle. You can add or remove drivers right in the Tesla app as outlined here. Each person you want to add will need their own Tesla account and by adding them as a driver they have access to the vehicle, can schedule service (including reviewing appointments/history), access to in-app messages, roadside assistance, and vehicle location details.
  4. Data Sharing with 3rd Party Apps - There are countless 3rd party apps that have been developed to provide additional features, information, and capabilities that does not exist natively in the Tesla mobile app. To use these apps you have to opt into sharing data with these companies, however, if you no longer use the app and delete it from your phone this does not stop the data sharing from occurring. You can modify what data is shared or remove access for these apps from your account (cannot do this via the mobile app). After logging into your Tesla account navigate to Account Settings > Security and select "Third Party Apps". Click the "Manage" button and select which information you want to share or you can select "Remove Access".
  5. Data Sharing with Tesla - You can select what data, if any, you want to share with Tesla that is collected from your vehicle. This includes diagnostic, infotainment, and autopilot data. Tesla does NOT associate the vehicle data generated by your driving with your identify or account by default. This means no one but you (or others drivers you added) has no knowledge of your activities, vehicle location, or history of your vehicle. You are prompted when you first set up the vehicle to select what information you want to share with Tesla and you can modify this at any time in the vehicle under the "Software" section. More details on Tesla's privacy policy can be found here.
  6. Face ID - On iOS 18 you can enable FaceID to open the Tesla application, this ensures if someone else is using your phone they won’t be able to open the app.

Physical Privacy & Security:

  1. Door Locks & Windows- There are a number of features that exist within this category to protect yourself
    1. Walk Away Door Lock - By enabling this this feature, the doors of the vehicle lock when you walk away and the key is no longer detected. You can even add a sound as a confirmation of this event occurring. There is also the ability to Exclude Home so the vehicle does not lock when you are at home.
    2. Driver Door Unlock - This feature only unlocks the driver door when you first unlock the car and only if the key is present on the driver side of the vehicle. To unlock the remaining doors, long press the door unlock button on the driver door handle, use the touchscreen, mobile app, or if you have a key fob press it a second time.
    3. Child Locks - To prevent the rear doors from being opened using the button on the door, you can choose to lock the left, right, or both doors. This setting can be configured under Controls > Locks > Child Lock.
    4. Unlock on Park - When you stop and engage Park, you can choose to unlock all doors, this setting is managed under Controls > Locks > Unlock on Park.
    5. Close Windows on Lock - When enabled this will close your windows when the vehicle is locked, a great way to ensure your doors and windows are closed & locked, this setting is managed under Locks > Close Windows on Lock.
  2. Car Left Open Notifications - This is a great feature to notify you if a door, trunk, and/or window is left open. You can manage this setting in Controls > Locks > Car Left Open Notifications.
  3. Security System - If the vehicle does not detect an authenticated phone or key and a locked door is opened, the alarm will sound and the headlights & turn signals will flash. While I don't recommend this, you can disable the alarm system in Controls > Safety > Security Alarm.
  4. PIN To Drive - Establishes a 4 digit PIN that must be entered to drive the vehicle via a pop up on the screen. The entry for this moves on the screen to prevent intruders from guessing the PIN via your fingerprint location. This can be enabled under Safety > PIN to Drive.
  5. Sentry Mode - One of the greatest features is utilizing the cameras to natively monitor your vehicle and record suspicious activity when your vehicle is locked and parked. However, this feature is not enabled by default and Sentry Mode only works if your battery is at least 20%. If a threat is detected or the vehicles sensors determine there is movement (like the vehicle shaking from being towed), Sentry Mode pulses the headlights, sounds the alarm, displays a message on the screen indicating cameras may be recording to inform those outside the vehicle, alerts you of the alarm via your mobile app, and lastly saves the footage to your USB drive. You can also exclude Sentry Mode from being enabled in certain locations, like home, work, or favorite destinations. You can manage Sentry Mode in Controls > Sentry Mode.
  6. Window Tint - Installing tint can not only provide heat and UV protection for yourself and the car interior, but also provide an additional layer of privacy. Consult your state laws on the maximum percentage allowed.
  7. Live Camera - You can also view the cameras right in your mobile app as long as Sentry Mode is turned on. You can view the cameras in your mobile app on the main page via in the section "Live Camera". This ability requires you to subscribe to Premium Connectivity, be on app version 4.2.1 (or newer), and have the Tesla app installed on a phone that has been paired as a key to the car. You are also limited to about 1 hour (or 15 minutes in some regions) of usage per day.
  8. Dashcam - This records video footage while driving for notable events or incidents. You can enable Dashcam within Controls > Dashcam and select how to choose when footage is saved, Auto, Manual, or On Honk.
    1. Auto - Saves footage when a safety-critical event is detected (like a collision or airbag deployment), detection can vary based on the current battery level, sleep, and Autopilot state.
    2. Manual - You have to manually touch the Dashcam icon on the screen to record the most recent 10 minutes of footage. You can have both Auto and Manual enabled at the same time.
    3. On Honk - When you press the horn the Dashcam records the 10 most recent minutes. You can have both Auto and On Honk enabled at the same time.
  9. Glovebox PIN - Establishes a 4 digit PIN that must be entered to open the glovebox. This can be enabled under Safety > Glovebox PIN.
  10. Privacy Screens - Using an aftermarket product to protect your vehicle from intruding eyes (as well as offering UV and heat protection). I picked up a complete bundled set from Jowua and made this YouTube video to show the install process and how drastically they improve your privacy in the vehicle for things like camping. They can easily be installed and removed in minutes.
  11. Valet Mode - A great solution to allow someone to drive and park the vehicle without having complete access to all the features in the car (like the glovebox and frunk being locked, limiting max speed, etc). To access all the features enter the 4 digit PIN you created or via your Tesla app. You can enter Valet Mode by selecting the profile option at the top of the screen.
  12. Speed Limit Mode - Allows you to limit acceleration and maximum speed and can be unlocked by entering a 4 digit PIN. This feature can be managed in Security > Speed Limit Mode.
  13. Parental Controls - If your child drives your vehicle you can limit the capabilities of the vehicle and ensure safety settings are enabled and cannot be modified. For example, it enables automatic emergency breaking, automatic 911 calls, park assist chimes, and blind spot collision warning chime. You can find the complete list in your owners manual. This can be enabled under Safety > Parental Controls.
  14. Clear Browser Data - You can clear the browser data (just like your smart phone or computer) under Controls > Service > Clear Browser Data.

I sourced all of the details directly from Tesla and you can find further details within their privacy policy here as well as a video they created here.

Side mirrors and seat move to my profile position each time. Why not just stay in my position

Beside mirrors and seat move just a little bit to my desired position. But why does the seat or mirrors move at all? Why not just stay in my desired position since I am the only driver?

I am not talking about the reverse tilt down or parking folding.

If I had to guess what the model 3 is doing, I would say that the car is going back to the original owner position or some type of set standard position. Then I would get in and it moves seat in Mirror slightly after putting it into the driver or reverse setting

Thank u

"Summon being interrupted" Error?

I have a M3 with HW3(AI3) with software 2024.33.5(FSD V12.5.4.2) and I've been constantly getting this error(see image) Sometimes it's immediately after starting a summon, sometimes it's in the middle of a summon. Most of the time it seems like it's when it's near a curb or another car(usually parked).

Any idea why this could be and if it's a quirk of the software, the test case, or maybe camera occlusion/dirty cameras?

What's better in the winter...All wheel drive with all seasons or rear drive with winter tires?

Winter tires questions for model 3 and Y

It's supposed to snow tomorrow. My wife is driving to work highway / city driving for about 30 minutes. Which car will be the safest in the snow...

  1. Model 3 rear wheel drive with winter tires.
  2. Model Y all wheel drive with all seasons.

We are deciding which car she should take. Thanks!

Update... Thanks for all the advice. We discussed your replies and she decided stopping is her primary concern, and she's going to drive her model 3 with snow tires. She's driven her cars lots in bad conditions I just wanted her to be in the safest situation.

I do have a spare set of 18 inch snow tires (I previously had a model 3 and traded up in march). After doing some googling and youtubing it appears they do fit on the model y. So I gotta do some checks first but might install those.

Mistake….or a good deal?

Hey y'all!

My neighbor recently put his 2014 Model S 60KW for sale with 80K miles, and he's willing to part with it for 8-9K after some negotiation, a quick check will show the car being valued at 2-3K more than the current asking...

Now while on paper it seems like a good deal, I am worried about the car shitting the bed soon after purchase, mostly with the battery failing, and me being charged more than the value of the car to replace it. Additionally the car seems to have a suspension issue when turned off, it gets low to the ground, but pipes right back up when turned on, according to the neighbor, Tesla quoted him 2K to fix it, but said it was ok for the time being.

What do you guys think, ofc there is some risk, but was wondering what your opinions were!
