So, I need to complete a terrarium for school, as it’s really necessary for me to pass. However, I have looked everywhere (7+ hours research), and no source is really helping me. All the videos show different insects from various parts of the world, and no one explains how to maintain a certain humidity or what animals I need for the bottom, middle, and top chain. Also, how am I supposed to add temperature control for a desert terrarium? Plus, no one explains how to create desert terrain with soil and what plants i need to add. Could someone please tell what on im supposed to do
if you can tell what i need you would save my life and lots of pain
Hey! I’m building custom 110x100x50 tank for my frogs. They have 30-40% of humidity with night spikes up to 50%. What plant will be able to grow in such a low humidity with rarely watering? For now I have monstera, I will have snake plants but I’m looking for something more! Thank you in advance!
is this some kind of mold?
I know this is a long shot, and I assume different soils and mosses can come with all sorts of hitchhikers, but I wonder if anyone here has any guesses as to what these tiny plants might be.
In the upper left corner you can see a few leaves of my Drosera spatulata for size comparison.
I’m wondering about the ferny-looking thing a bottom center (which is maybe 6 or 7 millimeters across), and the rounder leaves at the right (which my wife says is possibly some kind of liverwort).
Had this 5g container for over a year and still haven't put anything in it. Need help with some low-maintenance ideas. Thanks!
Im not even certain what I want to put inside it, but I know I want it to be lush and alive with some sort of reptile or amphibian. Im very much a beginner- any advice is appreciated
correct
I think I have over watered my open terrarium as I have a fluid level that won’t disappear. What am I to do? It’s in the stone layer and I’m guessing it won’t go anywhere or will it evaporate over time?
I assume it’s because I overwatered it? But I still need to water the soil to nourish the plants right because they can’t access the water at the bottom? So should I just continue to water it but with less fluid so the soil absorbs all of it and the pool at the bottom doesn’t grow?
Ordered a terrarium from PlantTerra.shop recently because I wanted to try out a pre-made one. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it! The quality and materials are great. It’s a bit smaller than I expected, but it’s unique and fits nicely in the room. Has anyone else ordered from them?
Just got some little guys for my terrarium after facing a bit of a mould problem. They all keep climbing up the glass rather than burrowing and eating up the dead matter. Every day I flick them off back to the soil (hence why there are only a few on my photo). But they persist! Is this normal? Or do my springtails have no work ethic?
So I just make this from whatever moss I could get outsind and some driftwood , I couldn't get any springtails and this terrarium keep getting mold what do I do ?
I’m looking to buy a kit for Christmas, is there a good quality website to purchase?
These have been in this build for maybe a month or two. Its possible I gave them too much light at first. This has been a slow process. They don't seem to be getting any more yellow but I'm concerned. I mist them with distilled water once a week.
Mostly cuttings for now. Excited to see it evolve. Gonna house a handful of my grow out geckos.
I am looking to get a terrarium for my girlfriend. She has a cat and she is always looking for ways to keep the cat entertained and one idea is to have a small tarrirum with snails.
From my basic research snails are low maintence and don't need a lot of space which is good because she has a small apartment.
What are some suggests for terrarium brands, sizes and material for the snails? As well as other general information.
The pothos seems to be doing best. There’s also a lucky bamboo tree, ponytail, and fluffy ruffle ferns. The ferns are kind of beat up. Any suggestions appreciated.
