Any tips, known issue to check in the first place? Looking for a 2021 Taycan 4, if this matters.
Would you risk buying a non CPO taycan?
I’ve been being driven bonkers by a squeaking sound that sounds like panels or the chassis “tortioning”/twisting/squeaking. Thought it was the child seat so took it out and no joy, started to worry that lining panels were to blame and it would be in the Porsche for weeks while they hunted around trying to sort it out.
I then pulled the partial shelf/boot cover thing out and it has magically sorted the issue, so I’m suspecting it’s the fixings rubbing together.
Anyone got any experience/recommendations? I’m thinking of getting some felt it sticky backing and lining one of fittings with it. Ideas welcome.
Failing that I’ll send it back to Porsche again!
Has anyone had experience with this? WRS0
It says the fix is not avalaible till Q1 of 2025.....
Im due to have ARB5 sorted in early January but I dont want to keep going forward and back, I was thinking of rebooking my ARB5 fix till March or will this cause me issues with warranty or something?
I plan to replace my 24 Taycan with a 24 EV Macan. What are tips for getting a better trade in price? Would I be better off with Carmax or Caravana or private purchaser?
Thanks
I used this for the first time today and it feels massively over-engineered. Why does it need WiFi access and a touchscreen? I have a fixed charger at home and used this today when I’m in a holiday home.
Does it do anything more than just allow me to charge from a standard plug socket? I can’t see anything additional on the Porsche app.
Hello all, just picked up a my24 turbo last night and I have some questions. In my garage we have a 14-30 outlet (clothes dryer one) the Porsche pigtails for the mobile charger seem impossible to find. Is there another aftermarket option for 14-30 charging?
Also, what adapter do I need in order to use a Tesla supercharger? I know some of them have magic docks now, but not all. Thanks in advance!!!
Hi All,
There's one door handle that is not fully closing when I lock the car or drive away. It is still lifted a bit up. Does anyone know if you can calibrate these door handles? If not, would it be a repair shop visit ? Thanks for your answers. (MY23GTS)
So, got called by the Taycan monitoring centre saying my MY24 CT had an alarm triggered. went outside, alarm was going, tried to unlock the car with my key and couldn't. The guy on the phone said it looked like it was because the 12v battery had died. Called roadside assistance and they had a really helpful chap come out to me, who got to the battery and jump started it. He also suggested I drive it for a while for it to charge up again. Drove it for 40 minutes, got home put it in park and I got the 12v warning again. I was trying to do stuff on the PCM to see if there might be any settings that could help, but the car would turn itself on. I have since charged the car, but still see the error.
What might next steps be? Dealer visit? Physically Charge the battery? Is there a number to call (UK) where they can do remote diagnostics like Tesla can?
I just had a software update installed at the Porsche Center for my MY2025 Taycan. The job was labelled WRV3 Update to Software network, which I couldn't find any information about online. All-in-all, it took about half a day to complete.
As usual, they couldn't provide a meaningful change log, but after playing around with it for a while I've noted a few new interesting changes. I was however provided an entirely new manual that I haven't had time to read through yet. Overall, it seems like they've done quite a bit of rewrite behind the hood.
I'm sorry for the Swedish interface; I hope the message comes across anyway.
CarPlay navigation instructions finally show up in the dash and HUD. It does not however show the route on the map in the dash, but it does show the turn by turn instructions in the right tube (as well as time of arrival among other things).
There's a new performance app that shows real-time information about car like motor power, battery metrics and handling. The white line at the bottom of the motor power photo below is normally a graph while driving.
Motor power graph (it's currently at 0)
When I connected my phone, I was prompted to confirm my (prefilled) phone number as an emergency number. I'm not entirely certain of what this is used for exactly.
There are a number of new options in the charging planner and the map overall. First of all, it's now possible to filter charging stations on the map based on available power output, charging network and whether they are open 24/7. Essentially it's finally possible to remove all those pesky 50 kW chargers and only show actually usable chargers on the map.
A long list of charging networks
For the charging planner, there are a few new options:
Yeah, we've heard it before, but here we go again. There is now a new tab in the phone app called Online Software Updates that looks like this:
I guess we'll see what this actually means in practice, but at least it seems like the idea of real OTA updates isn't dead yet.
Note that this appears to be seperate from the typical software updates for navigation data and individual apps that are occasionally installed automatically. Those are downloaded from the car's built in cellular connection, while this requires an external WiFi connection. WiFi connectivity was previously introduced with the J1.2 primarily to enable video streaming, but it seems like it will also be used for software updates.
When I got the car back, it immediately installed two minor updates (Finder and something else), so those appear to still be handled over cellular.
All cars sold in the EU must now include an audible speed warning when going above the speed limit. Previously, the sound was... EXTREMELY annoying to put it mildly. After the update, this has however improved significantly. It's much quieter and softer. Instead of beeping indefinitely while going above the speed limit, it seems like it now just pings at you twice and then stops. I however need to test this further to really say exactly how it works now.
Below are the current software versions after the update.

I've also noticed a number of smaller bug fixes all around. E.g. when changing song, the album art updates much quicker than before.
My last post here about the added 3% residual bump on CPO Taycans got good traction and I've had lots of chat requests about lease deals.
I'm a nerd who was in auto sales a long time ago and I'm pretty good at working out Porsche leases. I'm not a broker; just a guy who is extremely frugal and a deal hunter.
What I'm here today to share with you is CASH DOWN ON A LEASE IS BAD. I wrote about that here several years ago and it still stays true today.
Why I'm bringing this up today? I'm seeing lots of posts here and on other subreddits / forums about Taycan leases where brokers are advocating for 5 grand or more due at signing and frankly - that's stupid and not in your best interest. You wouldn't light your cash on fire; and most of you wouldn't throw it on the table in Vegas in one roll - putting it down on a lease is bad. Put it in the bank, take the higher payment and use that to pay your car payment each month.
To those who bought a taycan outright or financed I’d like to know how the ownership experience has been. Ideally I would have split this poll by model year and trim level but I feel eyes tend to glaze over when there are too many options. So a general consensus is all I’m aiming for
New to this group, but been looking at Taycans for several months now. Been going back and forth on if it's a good idea or not based on costs. I've already owned a 991.1 911 and currently own a 955 V6 which has absolutely kicked my ass on maintenance (~8k in a year catching up on deferred maintenance from previous owner).
I've been thinking of going to an EV, but the only real EVs I appreciate are the Taycan and Lucid Air. I would appreciate there being more options (re: lighter EVs with good driving dynamics) that aren't Tesla, but there simply are not. It seems 90% of manufacturers are simply phoning-in their EV products for marketing instead of engineering.
I have a preference for a Taycan CT4, but I am on a bit of a budget and can't justify spending over 60k on an EV since I am saving for a home in two years.
I'm constantly checking different sources, autotempest, Rennlist, PCarmarket, CnB, BringaTrailer, Leasehackr, 6speedonline, and the Porsche used car finder. What are you guys seeing as a fair market private-party value for Taycan RWD with the PB+ option? I'm a U.S. person currently working in Germany and am looking to import a US spec Taycan to Germany for the rest of my time here. A bit of a pain in the ass, but it does introduce a very complicated logistical variable. I've managed it before so I know how the process will work, but it means I have to be very selective about what I get into.
Thanks!
Alright, so here’s the deal: I’m aiming to be a cash millionaire (well, at least in spirit 😜) by January in the UK. The dream? A Porsche Taycan—probably a 2021 model, ideally with fewer than 30k miles on it. Now, before I dive headfirst into this:
Step 1: Must-Have Options—What’s Worth It?
The Taycan comes with so many options it feels like Porsche wants you to build a car and solve a Sudoku puzzle at the same time. So, what are the absolute must-haves? What’s worth splashing out on, and what’s just “meh”? For example: • Must-haves: Adaptive cruise control? Panoramic roof? Fancy sound system for blasting your “I’m rich now” playlist? • Nice-to-haves: Are things like the passenger display or upgraded wheels really game-changers? • Skip it: Anything you’ve tried and thought, “Why did I pay for this?” Help me sift through this madness—what’s essential to lock in, and what can I live without?
Step 2: Porsche Dealership vs. Autotrader/Private Sellers
Now, here’s the big question: Do I stick with Porsche-approved dealerships like a responsible adult, or do I go rogue on Autotrader or through private sellers? Is there a golden rule here where buying from Porsche is a no-brainer because of things like warranties, certified checks, or free coffee while you sign the papers? Or can I save a chunk of change by going non-dealership without regretting it later?
Step 3: Recalls, Software Updates & Battery Checks
Lastly, let’s talk about the nerdy but important stuff. Are there any recalls or known issues with 2021 Taycans that I should be aware of? Should I be checking for specific software updates or battery maintenance history to avoid any “surprise” repair bills? Basically, what are the red flags to watch out for when inspecting one of these beauties? Lay it on me—your advice could mean the difference between cruising in style and crying in my driveway.
Ignore the EV or ICE part. It’s seriously a good looking car. The macan EV is pretty ugly IMO. But man the taycan looks good from all angles. This is what the Panamera should’ve looked like.
I've been driving a 2015 Audi S4 (Progressive Plus trim) since new, and have only managed to put 109,000km on it but have had two minor side collisions over the last 3 years (both completely repaired to Audi-spec).
Alas, I'm looking for something new to upgrade to.
I live just west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada (in the GTA), so yes we have winter and it can get quite cold from Dec-March.
I only put about 12,000km/year on my vehicles these days - largely just errands around town + a couple out of town trips per month that are about 250km each round trip + a 420km round trip every couple months.
Any longer road trips than that (quite rare) we'd likely take my wife's 2023 MB 300 GLC.
I'd mainly be charging at home 99% of the time.
I took a 2025 Porsche Taycan 4S for a brief test drive about a month ago, and have also been shopping around some other vehicles such as the Tesla Model S Plaid and a Lucid Air Touring, and some gas cars like the 2024 Mercedes C43 and 2024 Audi S7.
I really focused in and almost purchased the Tesla a couple days ago, but have now returned to looking at used Porsche Taycans (Certified pre-Owned) mainly because I find most of those other cars too big for my needs, as the S4 size has more than enough space for my uses, and the Taycan seemed to be smaller in regards to driving it which I prefer.
The other main reason is that I really felt like the Taycan is the only one in the list that I believe will make me feel really good owning one a year or two down the road.
I'm looking to purchase (finance) likely in late January when I can hopefully get a better deal than purchasing now.
My initial questions are:
Hey guys/gals, I’m looking into getting a CPO 2021 Taycan 4S with 15k miles
The car is the right color both inside and out and meets exactly what I was looking for.
The Porsche dealer is asking $73k for it. I have tried to negotiate down a few grand with no budging so far. Am I being greedy? I kind of thought maybe I had some leverage given the time of year.
Should I take my chances and wait it out a week and see what shakes? (I know that’s a subjective thing)
On the other hand I am bit worried that (over 2-3k that I can afford) I might lose the car to someone else and that I won’t find another one like it.
Any opinions/guidance is welcome!

I found a perfect used tycan for myself. It has everything I'm looking for. Only one thing bothers me. It has roof rails. Can I get them removed? I like the flat look of the car. Maybe in real it's different than on photos. I can't see the car in person before buying... different story.
What are you guys thinking?
What are some things you've added to your Porsche Taycan that's made life more fun and easier?!
For example, I added 2 clear hooks (yes, I know, lol) in that weird empty spot under the AC because it’s practically useless, and I needed a place to put my wallet. I also added touch LED lights just for fun.
Curious to see what mods or little hacks everyone else has done! 👀
Just picked up my new Taycan 2 weeks ago. Enjoying so far! But at night on the motorway I find the wing mirrors quite dark, especially on the drivers side (right, I’m in Ireland).
Am I imagining this or has anyone else noticed?
I found a CPO 2022 that I think is perfect for me (though the price is still pretty high). I was looking for a CPO to avoid the big depreciation but I’m getting FOMO on the newer features like the better range and quicker charging times. Are there any other differences between the 2022 and the newer models that I’ll wish I had if I pull the trigger?
Hello fam,
A long time reader here but first time posting.
I’m looking for some help from the community in finding a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Porsche Taycan Base with the Performance Battery Package. My goal is to keep the monthly payments below $1000 with little to no down payment. I’m located in Texas, in case regional availability makes a difference.
I’ve been scouring dealer websites and lease listings but haven’t had much luck getting the numbers to work within my budget. I’m open to tips, dealer recommendations, or any leads on potential deals, financing options that might fit the bill.
Any advice from experienced buyers, lessees, or those who’ve snagged a great deal on a Taycan would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance, and happy driving! 🚗⚡
Edit: I have a trade in as well and based out of TX if that helps.
Did you complete the front brake hose recall on your Taycan?
Share comments on your dealer experience and which country/region.
I know it's not a perfect science so apologies in advance for the dumb question. But on average, for a 2020 4S with 60K miles, with the Performance Battery Plus option -- when battery is charged to 100%, what's the best I can hope for in total miles?
Alrighty, so a while back I posted about my issues with the Atlanta area Porsche dealers and support on recalls and other repairs. I'm just adding an update since the only real updates on various recalls come from the community and Porsche is not helpful unless pressed.
My dealer had claimed to have brake lines on order for me after a series of recall appointments where no work had been done for the EVSE cable and the brake lines. The short version of my rants here is either I would call or they would call me, schedule an appointment, call me after a few days and say they'd didn't have the parts/software. Sometimes I got a loaner Macan, sometimes I did not. The last instance was in July. Feeling really embarrassed my Service Advisor said he'd order parts specifically for me and then call me in September. The ETA for their next batch of brake lines was August and he still had no idea when the PMCC software would be ready. This was also the same period of time where some recalled charging cables were being delivered with the 14-50 plug in the wrong direction for the charger so he didn't know when they'd get the correct cables for the PMCC even if the software was available.
September came and just about went and I called them back. They scheduled me for October with a week estimate for all the work. I ended up getting the car back after three weeks with little information as to what was going on along the way and two of four repairs done.
My special order brake lines apparently vanished at some point (likely into a car they wanted to sell, but I'm speculating here) they did not do the work on this and put my brake lines back on order with no ETA aside from "next year."
I'm going to call up the dealer's manager and get them to reduce the ridiculous 2 year service cost by bundling the required fluid flush with this work. Considering they've never actually been able to repair my car in a scheduled appointment I think they at least owe me the courtesy there.
Obviously no brake lines means no brake feel update and they pointed out that my car has the intermittent software fade issue. I've gotten use to this but I look forward to not having to assume I'll have soft brakes mid pedal.
I guess it's a good thing that I leave a lot of following distance as a rule....
In March '23 I took the car in for its first recall repair and they ran some software updates. This was before I setup my car's homelink so I didn't know how that was supposed to work. My car ended up having the refresh Taycan software installed that assumes buttons exist for Homelink. Every time I brought it in I told them something was wrong and they didn't believe me until the Service Bulletin came out. One of the techs suggested that all Taycan owners have this problem and they just keep their fob on them. He blamed the thermal glass.
Now that the Gaslighting is over, they corrected the software and my Homelink doesn't ask for a button to be pressed. Now the tech is seemingly correct about the Thermal glass reducing effectiveness but that's a whole other issue.
Porsche finally had the software and the cable. The cable I received is in the correct orientation as well and unlike some repairs it doesn't complain about being too cold when turned on at room temperature. They finally managed to get this right. Fifth times the charm I guess.
I have the leather interior panels and apparently the clips are more fragile than other options (their explanation). I have one that failed completely and just flops between the door and the passenger seat. It turns out this part a three month special order out of the EU with an ETA of January (remembering that I am very late posting this update, it's been on order since October). We'll see if this happens. My experience so far is they are very bad about orders that don't involve them holding onto your car and being reminded of its existence.
-----
So in conclusion, at least within the Atlanta area, service continues to be closer to Fisker than what Porsche promises. Community drives the discussion and helps each other through it, the parts don't seem to exist, updates are insufficient, etc. I'm going to use my post here as notes before the call I owe the Service Manager.
Some of these issues are aggravated by my own behavior. I alternate between being too busy (Job, toddler, sick people) to deal with the car when it's being held at their shop and being patient to a fault. If I turned into a real Ken and became pushy with the service department I'd probably have those brake lines and the corrected brake software. If it weren't a safety issue it honestly wouldn't matter enough to necessitate that. However, safety issue or not this is not the experience they sell and I'm going to let them know I'm done with VAG (All brands) unless they manage to hit Hyundai/Chevy/Pepboys levels of service.
