Like the title says (unsure of how much I have to censor on reddit 😞) I hate seeing parents/providers hit/slap/scream at their kids. I know it's not my business and I know that it's more accepted in different cultures and communities, but I still hate it. Today I heard a child screaming bloody murder, louder than the normal tantrum and I look over while a father is DRAGGING a 5-6 yr old girl by her arms down the main runway. She's pleading to her mom for help, whiles she's blissfully scrolling on her phone a few paces ahead. The dad then picks her up and throws her over his shoulder to where her head is hanging over his back. At this point she's screaming in pain and pleading that it hurts, the dad is screaming at her LOUDLY to "SHUT THE F*CK UP" to where everyone is turning their head. Eventually they leave but like... There's nothing a little girl could do to deserve that and I hate that we all just have to turn a blind eye. Calling the cops would be a waste of time and most likely cause more harm in the long term. The other wild part is the guests chuckling like "haha kids are such a pain!" I hate you alllllllllll

So, I just started working at Target on Wednesday. And Friday was my first experience cashiering. I'm supposed to be a stocker for GM? But obviously you're gonna end up cross training I guess.

Anyways. Just opened up a lane after shadowing another dude for like 5 seconds. An elderly lady comes up and first item I scan she goes "That's supposed to be $14"... I look at the screen and it is indeed $14.99, so I'm very confused. She asks me to check the price and I do... $14.99... So I ask her if she saw some sort of clearance sticker or something when she grabbed it. She says no. We go back and forth for a little bit because I genuinely don't get what she is trying to tell me.

It suddenly hits me when I look at the screen again. But I didn't want to believe it because it was so goddamn stupid. I'm like "Ma'am, what you're seeing is the added taxes."

Yeah, the base price of the item was 14.99, but taxes made it like 16 something. She was complaining at the total showing the taxes. HOW ARE YOU THAT OLD AND ACT LIKE YOU'VE NEVER RUN INTO THE CONCEPT OF ADDED TAXES BEFORE?

Hey, former Alaskan thinking about moving back to the anchorage area. I’ve been to the Target’s in anchorage as a guest, but never in any work capacity and am considering transferring. What are they like to work at? What are your guests like? How is your store’s culture? TIA!

So I don’t work at Target. I work at Safeway and I shop at Target for crap I can’t buy at Safeway. There has been a huge decline in the in stock/conditions lately at my local T. Don’t get me wrong, store also suffers the same sometimes, but not to this extent for such an extended period of time.

Like there’s product on the floor all over the store, shelves empty everywhere, entire aisles look like they haven’t been touched in days. I used to like to play with your pushers for facing product (I think they’re really neat) but there’s not much to push anymore.

I’m just curious how many loads/what’s the process for your deliveries? Is your frequency for deliveries of freight based on sales? Is it auto ordered or manual?

Do y’all use overnight people to stock or just daystockers?

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the Target I shop at look so depressing than the last few months. Just wondering what’s up. Y’all okay?

Our Black History Month display poster was removed from TSC yesterday. No explanation. It was up yesterday, and today is was completely removed.

I’ve been working in GM for a while now, but for some reason, zoning gives me major anxiety especially with the number of HBA u-boats I get assigned and having to keep a fast pace. I keep getting asked to zone, and can’t even get to doing it. On top of that, I’m expected to zone and I keep getting pulled into OPU, which takes me away from my freight.

To make things worse, my store is a mess. There’s product tossed everywhere, zones constantly destroyed, and reshop/random / damaged items all over the place.

For future reference, I’d love to hear how you all keep areas looking presentable. Any best practices for zoning that make the process easier and perhaps less intimidating?

I'm looking to transfer to a different target store, closer to home, during these few months ( Feb , March or April). I just asked my ETL-HR about transferring, and she told that it's impossible for me to do so because I'm under my 90 days, ( which is wrong because my 90 days just passed on January 23rd and I'm a permanent TM) and January/February are really tough times to transfer because there aren't any hours. She also told me to talk to my TL because a lot of things can happen like the transfer process and last day at the current store and etc. I want to ask y'all. When is it the best time to transfer? Do I have to wait until we get hours again or something? I just need some advice on what to do regarding this. Should I just promote myself to guest and save myself the trouble?

With the new android update we can now see what app is using the camera and microphone. Periodically I can see it pop up in the corner and I get this after clicking on it. Very weird

I know some guests frequent this subreddit so I wanted to say something.

To preface, I don't particularly care if you have clothes, donations, kids mess, furniture, random papers, fast food bags, wheelchairs etc. in your trunk.

But these are all examples of things I encountered in drive up:

When you have your portable kids toilet in the trunk open and full of pee, that's a hazard.

If you have a bunch of poopy diapers in the back, opened and scattered about, that's a hazard.

If you have a bunch of bags full of actual garbage that does smell, that could potentially be a hazard. I don't know what's in there.

If you have used menstrual pads, that's definitely a hazard.

And lastly, if you have used syringes and needles, uncapped for medical reasons or whatever, that's a BIG hazard.

//////TLDR////// I understand that people have different lives and are in different situations, but please try to clean up kids pee, dirty diapers, used menstrual products, and needles from your trunk to make it safe for us delivering your orders at least. 😭

I can’t justify shopping at a place that doesn’t care about us anymore. Rolling back DEI and paying us too little, I’m not giving this company any more of my money. Job hunting and actively shopping at Costco now. (It’s way better actually I was shocked)

I've been told I'm going to be promoted to TL soon, but I've also just gotten an interview with TSA to work at the airport. The TSA job is p/t minimum of 20 hrs per week and pays about $1 less per hour. I think the benefits are better with TSA and I've heard it's pretty easy to go f/t or transfer to a different airport with more hours available, but I'm not sure the new administration wants to keep TSA around; it wouldn't surprise me if they move for privatization.

What's your take? Is a TSA job at the airport better than a TL job at Target?

NEVER AGAIN will i help when the cart attendant is on lunch. Like idk how to use the machine and the only option is to push the carts but i have no control over them even when i tried to shove it all together best I could.

Had a guest come in today that wanted his online order but his order was not ready( my location it can take up to 6hrs due to small backroom). He proceeds to say that he can go get the stuff himself and we can do what we need to do on our end. He was explained that it doesn’t work that way. He can go ahead and cancel the order and purchase the items as he needed it right now. An ETL was called to help as he was getting upset/rude. ETL proceeded to say sorry to the guest and gave him a $10 gift card for the trouble. Is this correct or not?

I applied to my local target today. I finished all the required material for the application, like my education, job history, and the online assessment. I got the email that said my application was sent off, but then I got the "Complete the Application" email about an hour ago. Has anything like that happened to y'all? I went on the candidate portal, and it told me the application was "in progress." I applied for an on-demand role and am really excited if I get it! I know it's mostly based on which store you apply to, but how long did y'all have to wait to hear back about an interview? Thanks for the advice!

I tried simmering back down to my wage the other day. Being told you’re slacking on work because you’ve finally gotten a breather for the blatant understaffing. Then my TL gonna give me a conversation about my declining performance knowing dam well I’m still the top 10 performer’s storewide. Baffling.

This job isn’t even hard, I wake up and go to work and leave, it never follows me home.

Morning shift always leaving crap and uncompleted task for the night team and which we have to finish before starting our own task.

man today fucking sucked ass. so many people called in. we literally only had the SD and one ETL running the entire store. we were so backed up on pushing that the SD started giving me orders to give to OTHER team members ???? like girl i am NOT a team lead 😭😫 on top of this we only had 3 people on register with a line backed up to the moon and back… so between me trying to push 4 uboats of repacks, help on register, back stock & act as a team lead i’m POOPED. time to get high 🫡

Reapplied to a different store. Was re-hired within 24 hours of my application being submitted. This store unfortunately is a red store and has been for forever. This store has had OSHA and the fire marshal come out more than 10 times in the past year. (It’s a small format) lord pray for me. Kind of excited for the absolute CHAOS though. Really glad I’ve got a lot of experience under my belt.
