Guide to playing Taiko no Tatsujin on your PC!

Hi guys! I recently acquired the game and start having a blast with my daughter in law. She loves Frozen movies so I saw there was the Winter Anime Pack with few of them. But seems to be banished from earth.
Was this a temporary pack that now is gone? Or is it only sold in certain territories?
I own the following 2 games, both for Nintendo Switch.
- Drum N Fun
- Rhythm Festival
Thanks in advance for any help :)
I haven't got the chance to try the US cabs in Burbank because it's still offline. I just want to know if the song list is the same as Asia/Oceania versions of this game or it's different?
Hello! I'm playing Taiko no Tatsujin: Waku Waku Anime Matsuri, and it only let's me play 2 songs before kicking me back out to the menu. Is there a way to set it up so that I can just go back to the song selection menu like in the NA Taiko Drum Master?
Thanks for the help!

The fix mentioned by u/Daemonian (shout out to him) does fix the issue mentioned in the post, but then I had another issue related to saving scores.
Problem: If you get a high score in any difficulty, any score below than that won't record (even though they are in different difficulty category)
Example scenario: On Song X I get 1000k points on Easy. Then I get 980k on the same song at Normal difficulty. After the result screen disappears, you can see that you got 980k on Normal with the middle left display while you're hovering on the song. But after exiting the game and going in again, it will show that you score 0 on Normal (even though the purple medal and clear/FC/DFC crown is still there)
Fix (?): I recognize the pattern that any score below than the highest score won't be recorded, so I check the .tja.score.ini file of the song. It seems that any score that goes below the Score= field won't get recorded (hell, I don't even know what that field is for since high score is only valid if it's in a specific difficulty). Hence, the fix is to set it to 0 every time before you play so that any new score can be a high score. But doing so manually will be very tedious as you have tons of songs, so I took the liberty of inheriting u/Daemonian script and update it a little bit (with the help of ChatGPT as I have no knowledge in writing PowerShell script)
$folderPath = Get-Location
$searchText = @("PerfectRange=41.7", "GoodRange=108.4", "PoorRange=124.7")
$replaceText = @("PerfectRange=25", "GoodRange=75", "PoorRange=108")
Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Filter *.tja.score.ini | ForEach-Object {
$filePath = $_.FullName
# Skip if the file doesn't exist
if (!(Test-Path -Path $filePath)) {
Write-Warning "Skipping missing or inaccessible file: $filePath"
return
}
try {
$content = [IO.File]::ReadAllText($filePath)
foreach ($i in 0..2) {
$content = $content -replace [regex]::Escape($searchText[$i]), $replaceText[$i]
}
$content = $content -replace '(?<=Score=)\d+', '0'
Set-Content -Path $filePath -Value $content
} catch {
Write-Warning "An error occurred with file: $filePath. Skipping."
}
}
It's basically the old script with some modification:
- More up-to-date method to read file
- Catch an error where the score file can't be found (but it's actually there, somehow the script can't read the score file. I get this error with the song "Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru♪ [Shite Yan yo]")
- More importantly, include the automation of setting score = 0 that mentioned above
I have only tested this in only a few songs so feel free to try it out. Any feedback on the script (improvement, addressing the error in point number 2, etc.) is welcomed!
Final note: It sucks that there are still a few issues with TNDE because it receives no updates, but I still find the simulator bringing me the closest arcade experience so I still stick with it :D

why can't i open songs? i just started playing please tell me what i'm doing wrong
Probably this was already commented in this community. What is today all the tatacons models to buy? The bestest and the bigger ones.
Hi all,
My current monitor is the ASUS VG259QM, it's a 240 (280) hz refresh rate panel. Taiko has probably been the first proper motion clarity "test" I've noticed in the two years I've had this monitor. Notes have a noticeable "blur" around them as well as some grey ghosting. V-sync is off and I don't notice much of a difference between the "automatic" and "120 hz" mode for the in-game settings. So I presume there must be some tweaking to do to my monitor itself.
Currently set to 280 hz, G-sync is on (VRR), Overdrive is set to 120 (Meant to be the best balance between overshoot and ghosting), ELMB-Sync is off, shadowboost is off.
Not sure if anyone here would be able to help, but it feels like this makes my monitor feel a lot worse than it actually is when its getting stress tested like this and hopefully there's a simple thing I missed out on that would alleviate this.
Thanks!
I have been using the hori drum for a couple months and after maybe about a month the right ka sensor started bugging. Every few seconds the right ka would switch from not registering a hit, to holding down the right ka and spamming through menus. After a few minutes the issue fixed itself, however it started happening again recently and hasn't fixed itself even after a few days. Although I mainly use the right ka, I have never used wooden bachi or tried modding it. Is there anything that I can do to fix this issue?
Might be blind because I genuinely can't find it
I struggle to beat songs on extreme difficulty so I was wondering if you guys have any tips to beat my first one.
Hello,
While I’m informing about this game I have discovered there is a fitness mode called « Don Don fitness ».
I’m wondering if this game mode is fun and is it good as a fitness mode (not as intense as Ring Fit obviously) ?
I have seen a gameplay trailer with japanese voice (but english subtitles).
It reminds me of a light Beat Saber mini game.
Is it good ? And are there all the songs available in this mode ?
Many thanks.
I ordered a drum on Nov 25th, Just checking to see if anyone else ordered around that time, mine still hasn't ship yet. I know they're waiting for materials to come in.
I realised I haven’t been using my coins, and I have about 50 unused autumn coins which will go to waste once the season resets. I’m trying to work out if I need to get to a cabinet ASAP to cash them in for songs, or if I can wait a week when it’s better for my schedule!
I see alot of used PS3/PS4/wii u/ wii drums out there. Is there a best drum from an older set? or is the latest Hori for the switch best available not including the force lv5 / lv6?
Hey guys, I’m based in Australia and looking to get a taiko drum controller for Nintendo and a game for Christmas. On the play Asia website, there’s a drum available that says Japan compatible and 2 others which are Asia and US compatible (out of stock). Same with the games. Does this mean I can’t purchase the Japan ones/ won’t work in Australia? Also, I’d be looking to get Rhythm Festival but if anyone has other suggestions/ tips - I’d be thankful to hear your insights :) Thank you so much!
Fresh out of the box, the ps5 drum doesn’t respond to any hits from the drum for my left side don. When I press down the left side with a finger or bachi it responds but not when it’s a normal hit. Any way to fix this?
I have been meaning to get an Iine but I saw that the tdc10 released and I have not seen any vids about the rolling and the long streaks of notes like in yugen no ran or xa. If any tdc10 owners could tell me about it or have a vid that you could show me that would be great
The app updates every two months, and the September update came late for me, and I saw nothing on YouTube. When will it come?!
After 1 year i played at arcade only, i decide to buy these maybe the drum i will buy later. Taiko game: RM2.00 + FANTECH Controller: RM99.00. Feel a bit awkward tho 😂 playing taiko with controller but i will adapt soon
Long shot this, but does anyone know if Taiko Rhythm Festival will run on I5 9400T onboard graphics on Steam on Linux Mint?
The Steam minimum graphics cards seem excessive for what looks like very simple graphics.
Minimum: GeForce GTX 750 Ti, 2 GB / AMD Radeon HD 7770, 2 GB
Also, does the Hori Switch drum show up in Linux similar to how it does in Windows?
I'd love to play this game again after discovering it in arcades in Japan, but I can't justify buying a whole Switch and all the kit just for this 😆
Another question comes to mind. What is the cheapest way to play this (or another Taiko game) in the UK with a drum controller?
Thanks 🙏
EDIT
No, doesn't work, it's platform-locked to Windows.
Finally my local Round 1 gets the new Taiko no Tatsujin
Is switch getting more songs? I saw that someone mentioned an Oshi no Ko song pack but I didn’t find it on the switch eshop. Is the switch version discontinued? If so, fucking why?
Edit: I just launched the game and it says that Oshi no Ko pack will be available December 5th. How do PC players have it?
Hey! Started messing around with the TDC10 yesterday and it’s been a FANTASTIC upgrade from the Hori drum. I am having a bit of an issue though. Sometimes when I hit KAT, it registers a DON, and vice versa. I’m not sure where the sensors overlap, but it’s messing with things juuuuust enough that I’m coming here for help. I think messing around with sensitivity settings will help this issue, but I don’t really know what to do…would appreciate some help!!
The bachis that I find on Amazon or other conventional stores I feel are too big or heavy for control (Image to highlight )
I know this is a long shot but to the person I played with I'd like to thank you, I was the trans girl with glasses who likes touhou too much and who ended up getting hurt and went to get a frappe, I've been having a really bad week and this really helped make my week a little bit better, I really hope to play with you again some time :D
