Lost a wedding ring in snow near SLT :( Aimlessly looking around isn’t helping me, trying to see if I can get do some strategic search.
Does anyone in South Lake offer metal detection service? Or ring finding service?
I unfortunately lost it at a place where I won’t be coming back to for atleast 2 months and I’m very concerned that if it can be just lost or pawned.
This has great sentimental value along with a decent monetary value and I really would like to find it.
My grandparents are coming up for my graduation at UNR. I want to take them to the lake but a hike is just not possible.
I’ve been to the emerald bay viewpoint, which is perfect for them. I was wondering if there’s anything else that’s similar?
Thanks!
Hey! We are a band out of North Lake called Pipe Down, check out our new single - Spiral!

I got a job in Tahoe (woo!) and am planning on moving in a couple months. Since I won’t know anyone there, I’m looking for ways I can find new community there in advance. One thing I’d love to continue doing is choir — I’m a singer and I’ll be leaving my old choir once I move — but I haven’t been able to find any near South Lake Tahoe that I can get to without a car ideally. Anyone know of a choir or ways to get involved in singing and jamming with people? Also, is there anywhere I could go or groups I should join to help with building new community and finding friends in the area? For context, I’m in my 20s, working in the environmental field, love playing games, singing and playing music, knitting/crocheting, and being out in nature :)
Wondering if it will be more snoeshowing or just a hike?

Looking for a regular group or to start one myself. South lake.
I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A family friend has offered their cabin for my family and I to get a little mental health getaway. I want to make this trip amazing so we all have great memories to take away. From a local, what are the best activities over summer to do with teens? Suggestions also for little kid activities, my sister will be there with an almost 4 year old. I've only been to Tahoe maybe 3 times and all of them were in the winter so I'm really at a loss of where to start.
The Trib has updates on the Homewood project for us. Mixed bag of revitalization/restoration (yay!) public / local access (yay!), wealthy development (nay!) workforce housing (yay!) water taxi / ferry? (ehhhh? weird spot vs TC, I think? doesn't say the anchor points)
I have several 50% off buddy passes. DM me if you want one or more. This is their last week. Pond skim is this Saturday.
Hi there. Looking for advice on the best sunrise hikes in Tahoe for June. Ideally something that would be about 2-3 hours round trip. Thank you!
Hey all! I have an interview tomorrow that will likely be about 5 hours long. I live in a pretty small spot with a roommate and the only table we have is in our kitchen. Is there a good place in SLT where I could set up? It would have to be a room where I can speak loudly but also wouldn’t have other people making noise. I was thinking maybe the community college has a room I could rent out?
Thanks!
I’m going to Kirkwood tomorrow for a little day trip i live like 4 hours away. Anyone know how the conditions at Kirkwood are? I went around 2 weeks ago but i know there’s been a lot of sun.
Does anyone recommend a company for mole and vole extermination?
Broke my wrist in March but should get cleared soon. I’m wondering if it’s worth getting a few days in at Palisades or Kirkwood?
Hi all,
This is my first time posting to Reddit. I tried looking online but I couldn’t find any solid answers so I figured I would turn here.
I am from the Sacramento area and I’m looking to get to some snow with some conditions.
Long story short, my dog was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. Back when we lived in Massachusetts, his favorite thing to do was play in the snow. I want to give home one last chance to play. Due to a leg injury a few months ago, he can’t walk too far. Which is why it needs to be close to a road.
I am willing to drive anywhere along the Sierra. Last time we tried (a year ago) we got turned back due to chain requirements. I tried going up without a plan and it didn’t work.
He won’t make it until next season. I am open to any and all suggestions.
If there is a better thread for me to post this in, please let me know. Again, I’m new here.
Hey skiers! Where should I take my nine-year-old tomorrow? We’re driving from the peninsula, so I am deciding between sierra at Tahoe, Bear Valley, and sugar bowl. Since it’s a one day trip, I am desperate to keep the driving time under four hours one-way if possible. But we also want some good snow! Advice?

With Izzy’s gone (hopefully not forever), what are your guys’ favorite burger places here? Izzy’s was my favorite, and I’ve had Big Daddy’s but it didn’t hold up to Izzy’s imo. I really like Char-Pit in Kings Beach. I’ve also gone to Burger Lounge, and it was good but the burgers were kinda small.
I coming in to ski palisades but will have a rent a car. Is it worth making the drive around the lake I heard its 70 miles but will take 4 hrs.. Is it worth seeing heavenly gondola if you arleasy going to on the palisades gondola. I heard from a lot that Edgeworth is it worth going to dinner and checking it out. So many different ideas hoping some locals or long time visitors could help sort the waste of time stuff from the must do. Every website says everything is a must do which is no help when I just have 4 days and plan to ski a good bit.
I love to eat at good restaurants and mom and pop stand outs, check out new places, scenic routes and views, maybe a hike, a snowmobile tour seems cool but not are an ares till offered at that time.
Thanks!
I heard about the Y transit center but i can’t seem to find out if they run a shuttle to Kirkwood or not.
