Is there a resort that does a package of equipment rental, beginner lesson, and lift for one day only? Struggling so hard to find this. Let me know, thanks!
Getting back into town after the holidays Monday night. I’m taking off work on Tuesday because I can’t wait until the weekend to ride again 😅 Where should I go? Thank you
I (33F) moved to SLT this year and I’m looking to meet new people and make friends! Anyone have any recs on how/where to start, or does anyone here want to meet up? I’m thinking a ski day at Heavenly or a brewery. 🙂
Hiya, we are planning a weekend in the snow (fingers crossed) for January or February. We’d love to find a rental cabin within walking distance of a great sledding hill or park. I don’t necessarily need exact recommendations for homes to rent, but I’m curious for tips on neighborhoods / areas / towns I should look in, for unique combo.
We don’t need to be close to the lake, necessarily, or even restaurants / etc. Our goal will be to sled, be cozy inside, and avoid being in the car all weekend.
Thank you!
Edit: I realize the second part of my question is: are there any super vintage untouched-since-the-80s A Frame family cabins around (to rent)?! Like with brown carpeting, open sleeping lofts, plaid wool couches and orange kitchen tiles? I have such fond memories of these kinds of places and am now dreaming of recreating this for my kids. They of course won’t notice the decor but I certainly will!
I'm going with a few friends next month to South Lake for a weekend - two of us will be skiing at Heavenly, two of us reading and drinking by the fire. I've only ever stayed up North so don't really know the vibe. Is Black Bear a good place for cozy hanging or is there a better place around the same price point?
Has anyone been to both this year?
If so, where would you head next weekend? Looks like Northstar has the better base.
Hi I’m new to the Tahoe resorts and enough people told me “Kirkwood is good for experts” it’s making me a bit intimidated. My first visit is likely to be on my own and I’d like to know what to expect.
I’m an advanced skier confident on all groomers at Whistler (ie the Saddle after it turned into a black diamond). I’m still learning my way around bumps or terrains in general.
Any area I should stay off/be very cautious entering?
I am near Zephyr Cove, and a few minutes ago (about 12:07 AM, 11/30/24), I'm pretty sure I happened to see a fireball/shooting star dart across the sky for about a second before it burned up. From my vantage point, it was across the lake directly west, maybe in the direction of Sacramento. Did anybody else see that, or am I just making this up?
I saw it go pretty much directly from up to down, maybe spanning 20° in elevation from where it started to where it stopped above the mountains/horizon.
Good evening all! Does anybody have any recommendations on where to cut our Christmas tree in Truckee area? We have a permit and a map but would like recommendations. Thank you!! Possibly something we can plug into our GPS
My son wants to learn which I support but I have no personal knowledge on the subject. I snowboarded literally one time over 20 years ago in college in a different state.
I'm happy to pay for rentals, lessons, lift tickets, parking, whatever it takes, I just have no idea where to even start. What's the best place to go for a couple of complete beginners?
I'm in Carson City.
Thanks!
I'm trying to find some old pictures of the village pre massive development. Probably early 2000's. I'm curious what was where the rink/etc are now. I remember the one entrance and just walking straight to the gondola but wanted to see the path before the changes.
I think that the rentals were always where they are now but I'm drawing a blank about what was on the right side as you walk down the sidewalk. Thx
When traveling in the mountains the weather can be unpredictable and you can expect the weather yearround to have scattered microclimates with elements such as high winds, rain, thunderstorms, hail, snow flurries, flooding, wildfires/smoke, and other hazards.

SMILE, HOMEWOOD WILL ALWAYS BE PUBLIC
In case you haven't heard the news, here it is loud and clear: HOMEWOOD WILL ALWAYS BE PUBLIC.
We've updated our website to answer your questions, and share more details about the project including community access and discounts, new amenities, our commitment to the environment and more. Click the link below to learn all about this exciting new chapter!
As we work with various agencies on our master plan, we want to keep you clearly informed of our plans. We're committed to transparent communication and we're grateful for the chance to create better transparency and clear up any misinformation. We have submitted our amendments to the master plan including relocating the main gondola terminal to the base of the hill. As the review process continues, we'll continue to keep you updated.
So what does this all mean for you? This means the public will be welcome on the mountain forever! First though, we need to complete some much-needed improvements to our mountain infrastructure, including new lifts, upgraded skier service facilities, and new gathering spaces that will restore Homewood as the heart of the west shore.
Moving forward, we are committed to open, honest and respectful communication, and we hope to be skiing with you next winter and beyond.

This is a bit late, but I recently went to my first KnightMonster game on Saturday, and I had an awesome time! It was my first hockey game ever, and just the sheer energy that surrounded the rink, was pure joy! Made me realize how enjoyable hockey is when watching in person. If you’re ever in town, I highly recommend coming to their next game!
Between Northstar and Heavenly, which mountain would you recommend to visit this week? While I know you can check which runs are open on the epic app, I am unfamiliar with the mountain and terrain. I am just wondering what you all would think would be better for this team of the year for a competent skier. Longer runs, better views, nice lodge. Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I've fished Lake Tahoe ever since I was little, and I would always catch rainbows off of the dock near Cave Rock. I think my biggest fish caught from my dock was around 12 inches, which isn't small, but it isn't exactly average. I even searched Lake Tahoe average rainbow trout size and it gave that the average is 12-14 inches, which is smaller than the average adult rainbow of 20 inches. For such a large lake, it is something I consider, to where are these large rainbows.
Hello We are headed to Tahoe for thanksgiving. We are not at all familiar with snow stuff / don’t ski We are planning to drive up from Folsom with our 2.5 year old and spend a few hours in Tahoe Any recommendations on where and what activities I can do with my toddler
We thought of staying in Folsom since we didn’t want to stay in super cold Tahoe for 2 nights . Would it be worth it to stay in Tahoe instead ?
Anybody know why? Spectrum says it'll be back by 6?
