Hello Reddit! I’m looking for a roommate, preferably female and around my age, in their 20’s. The apartment is in Edina (west side), it’s a 2 bd/1 ba, 1200 sq ft, $1395/month rent (or ~$730-750 with utilities and wifi). I’m flexible with move-in time!

Key points:

  • Rooms are separated
  • 3rd floor
  • No elevator
  • $4.10 for laundry (in basement)
  • Accepts cats / ESA dog
  • Garage included (lots of storage, manual)
  • No outlet street
  • Easy access to highway(s)
  • 1 year lease (they also do 6-9-12, not sure how this would affect things)
  • $500 deposit
  • New carpet, new paint (not sure if this is important)
  • There is a gym and community room too

Moving from ME to MN

Putting feelers out as my move timeline is flexible. I work remotely, so not tied to one place due to a job. Moving from ME to MN to be closer to family (located in downtown Minneapolis and northern suburbs, Coon Rapids/Blaine specifically).

Looking for 1-2 BR under $1300 with some utilities included, off street parking, and w/d in unit or hookups. Also open to sharing a space with a quiet, respectful female roommate. Please DM me with any leads you may have. Thank you in advance!

Converting old house to triplex (MPLS)

Has anyone had experience getting an old house properly permitted to be a triplex? I KNOW there are TONS of triplexes around Minneapolis that are just subdivided old houses and there’s NO way they’re following all the rules. I have been working with the city for literally 3 years at this point to get my house (which was ALREADY divided into a triplex and rented as such for literal decades before I owned it) up to code and the city has been so rude and unhelpful and are acting as if the idea of dividing a house into a triplex is the craziest thing they’ve ever heard of and no one ever does it.

TLDR I guess if you rent double check your apartment’s property information to see if your landlord has a license because one thing I’ve learned in this process is how many people ARE NOT following the rules!!

What's it like living next to light rail

I'm looking at moving into a 3rd floor apartment room on university that is right next a LR (Raymond stop). Am I going to go crazy at night trying to sleep? I go to bed around 10pm and I know the rail still runs

Looking for an afab roommate to live with in a two bedroom in Minneapolis

Looking for a female/afab roommate preferably around my age [21f]. I’m looking to rent this August (asap) unfortunately things happened with my residency and I am losing my school housing after I just moved here. I already have an apartment in mind a bit south of down town Minneapolis. I’m an a very outgoing & caring roommate to have and do my part in the household. Please reach out if you think we would be a good match! lgbt+ friendly and 🍃 safe. The rent is 1000 dollars a month so that's 500 per person then electric and wifi are separate bills.

Getting Loan for a House and Renting My Current Townhouse

My unique situation:

  • combined income (with spouse) is 250K
  • own a townhouse currently worth ~250k
  • owe 210k on it at 2.75%
  • would like to keep and rent at $1,500 to $2,000 a month
  • current mortgage w/ insurance and taxes is $1,300

My end goals:

  1. Buy a house worth ~500k
  2. Rent out my current townhouse, instead of selling it.

Would like your feedback/opinion on

  1. How does getting mortgage approval for second home look like, given the scenario above? Will my interest rate for the second home be higher than the average interest rate, because I already have a mortgage?
  2. In which order people usually go with it - BUY then RENT or RENT then BUY?
  3. Who should I contact first to get started? Like a mortgage officer?

TYIA!

1B $1200

I’m currently in search of a 1bed in a walkable/safe area. I’m looking to live in a complex with amenities and in unit laundry.

My budget is roughly $1200

I’m touring the Nico on Friday but I’ve heard that the area is sketchy. I’m also touring The Larking, C&E, and Cordelle. I’d love any advice or suggestions.

Looking for a roommate! Shakopee (female)

Hello! I’m looking for a roommate in Shakopee, MN starting September 1st. $950 everything included.

A little about me: I’m super easy going, quiet, home a good amount of time I work from home on Mondays and Fridays I have 3 cats (so looking for someone with no pets because that’s already too many) 😂 I’m 24 I enjoy reading, photography, baking, and getting outside I don’t drink but do enjoy spending time out with friends

Looking for a roommate who: Friendly/ wouldn’t mind hanging out but also likes to spend time on their own In their mid-late 20s Also on the quieter side Okay with cats 🙂 (they are super cuddly/affectionate) Does not have pets Prefers it cooler in the house (I keep it about 70, maybe 68 in the winter to save on heat) Tidy

About the house:

I own a 3 bed 1.5 bath townhouse near Target in Shakopee. I renovated/updated the house in 2023. My ex- husband is moving out so looking for a roommate to move in 🙂.

Your room would be on the ground floor, it is a large bedroom with sliding door/ your own private patio. You would also have a large closet and private half bath. The utilities closet is in the room but is quiet/ not in the way. The laundry room is also on the first level so super close to you! The second level has a large living space, kitchen, dining, bathroom, and my bedroom and office. You would have space for 2 cars in the driveway and lots of street parking available.

Below are a few pictures of the main areas of the house- I will have updated pictures of the room for rent this weekend. 🙂 (some of the pictures were during construction so I will also take updated ones this weekend)

Feel free to message me with questions or if interested!

Private Renting Must Haves

Hi there, I am making my journey from large management company apartment rentals to renting from private owners. I was given a name by a local realtor to check out and have been in communication with him. What are things I need to look out for, ask about, or be aware of when it comes to, staying safe and financially as a private renter. Maybe things to look out for red flags as well.

TIA!

One Ten Grant - Loring Park - Major Management Issues

I have lived in this building for a long time (over ten years!) and at this point, really want to caution people about signing a lease here - and this has nothing to do with the "changing neighborhood" - I love Loring Park and will always stick my neck out for our little community. This building used to be awesome - maintenance requests were handled very quickly and professionally, and the place was a great value for the price with a great community (still love the community here - shout out to Amber, former building manager - we miss you!!). However, when the current building manager took over, it started to go downhill to the point that I was missing my Uptown slum lords of yester year. Don't even get me started on the botched communication plan for the new elevators during the pandemic - but recurring issues include broken air conditioning with no acknowledgement or support from management to fix, multiple residents have had their units flood due to maintenance issues, many units in the laundry room are broken so you're SOL unless you have in unit laundry. Additionally, the pool hasn't opened for the summer (was this the first year the OTG Pool was closed for Pride??) I'm not sure what is going on with this place, but very little preventative maintenance seems to have been done on the building over the years, and management doesn't seem particularly motivated to make any changes. TLDR: you're better off looking for a building with amenities at a similar price point, because this place isn't offering much.

Looking for a roommate

Hello everyone, 22F here, and am looking for a roommate, preferably female to move in with me by September or earlier. It's an apartment in Eden Prairie.

The place is pet friendly; I am not against an animal unless it is very untrained.

You would be moving into the master bedroom, so rent would be ~1200 (this includes the rent and utilities).

DM me if you are interested! Or let me know of any other great resources to find a roommate besides FB, Spare Room, roomies, or Craigslist. Haven't really gotten any responses or seen any potential roommates yet.
