Imagine if Keima tries to play other anime-ish video games like ddlc or miside, or even gacha games.

I don’t know if this is author’s intentional or accidental message, or maybe it’s just something I make up. I’ll just flesh it out here for everyone to discuss. The message/lesson from Keima choosing Chihiro is this:

In real life, a normal girl, both in appearance and personality, like Chihiro, is the most likely girl and the best possible girl YOU (the manga/anime follower) will end up with. Not the older student-teacher, not the childhood friend, not the super star idol, not a long-hair big-boobed demon girl, etc. It would be the most healthy relationship from both sides since love comes from both sides and there are no need for complex calculations/schemes to make her “fall” for you. So instead of fantasizing about those unrealistic 2D arctypes, start with what’s in front of you the whole time and that is where happiness happens!

The author purposefully drew both Chihiro’s and Keima’s apprearances to be somewhat plainer than the other girls/guys to emphasize this point. I think this is an incredibly brave choice as a harem/romance author, since the authors in the same genre usually choose the “safe” choice (first girl, long-hair big-breast girl, most voted girl, etc.)

What are your thoughts on this?

I used to read this manga years ago but never finished it entirely. Now that I have read through the last chapter, I must say that if someone would ever tell the old me:

• Dokurou skull and Nikaido-sensei are the same
• Nikaido actually likes Keima romantically and was jealous about him with other girls
• Keima kissing Nikaido multiple times
• Nikaido calling him “Oniiii-chan”
• Elsie is actually a super destructive evil weapon and the “final boss” and inserts herself to be the actual little sister

I would call that person “insane” lol. Nikaido/Dokurou arc was probably the biggest plot twist, with Elsie arc being second.

I read the chapter several times but the dialogue feels all over the place - Why did Ayumi still confesses her love with Katsuragi when though he said he doesn’t love her and could not answer anything else? It seems really illogical to me

It’s so sad that the Manga and Anime have all seem to disappear. I remember a couple years ago watching it and struggling to find any content and it was so good. And I still wonder to this day why it isn’t more popular.

So I recently finished season 2 and really enjoyed it so I decided to pick up the manga. Anyways I started from where season 2 left off and began reading the telescope girl conquest. I wouldn’t say that I’m a fast reader but the thing that really surprised me is that I finished the entire conquest in like 15 minutes where in the anime it took like 2 or 3 episodes for a conquest to complete. So I’m just wondering if the other conquests are usually this short as well, cause unfortunately I couldn’t really get attached to the telescope girl since I finished her arc so quick, as opposed to the conquests in the anime in which I could get attached to the girls (due to spending more time with them from those 2-3 episodes). This might be a bit of a dumb rant/question but I’m just a bit worried that this’ll affect my experience with the rest of the series.

Hey everyone.

Sorry it's been two months since we last posted a chapter. Things got busy in our offline lives, and as a personal choice, I didn't want the reader to be stuck on the cliffhangers of Chapter 4, 5, or 6, because I felt like it would be a really unsatisfying reading experience considering our current scanlation rate. Yesterday Chapter 14 came out in Japan, and Volume 1 started selling at the start of December, so we've got a bit of backlog to try to clear through.

As for some thoughts on the chapters (Spoiler Warning):

Chapter 4 & 5:

• According to Wakaki's blog, this little arc is based on a real rumour he heard about Kyoto University students eating salamanders.

I don't have much information about student life at Kyoto University, so I mostly rely on what other people tell me, but one day during a meeting I heard a rumor, the veracity of which was unclear but plausible, that "Kyoto University students eat salamanders." From there, I expanded on this story.

• The chapter also references a series of commercials that aired in Japan from the 80s to 2000s, with the "CDF CDF" chime as the Forestry club drives in their car.

• The title "La Salamandra Inmortal" is originally "山椒魚インモルタル" - "Salamander Inmortal", with "Inmortal" being a reference to the finishing move of the pro-wrestler, Titán, the "Llave Inmortal". The intention is to try to keep the titles sounding like pro-wrestling move names ("The KyotoU Suplex", "The Course Selection Toehold") like they do in Japanese.

• The Japanese Giant Salamander's conservation status is an interesting and weird thing. Legally protected with fines and potential criminal penalties, but no government mandates to protect their habitat or take further conservation actions. Furthermore, the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamander (which recent science has found are multiple species) escaped farming and became an invasive species in Japan back in the 80s. The Chinese and Japanese Giant Salamander speices produce fertile offspring however, and since then, hybrids are especially common in the Kamo River. Quote Wikipedia:

"In Kamo River in Kyoto Prefecture, the study conducted from 2011 to 2013 found that 95% of the captured giant salamanders were hybrids.[24]

• All this adds up to an usual situation where an extremely endangered Chinese Salamander in a zoo was misidentified as a hybrid. So you're in a situation where the majority of the severely endangered species population (95%) are hybrids or invasive species of an even more endangered species. So I can understand Kashio and Wakaki's mixed feelings about the active culling of non-pure bred Japanese Giant Salamanders. And as a thematic parallel, I interpret Kasho's mixed feelings on the Giant Salamander / Hybrid situation as a parallel between him and Sawakita, "how the two should not mix" because "one is special, protected, and supposed to be there, and the other is bad, unwanted, and polluting the gene pool of Kyoto's river".

Chapter 6 & 7:

• I really like Chapter 7 in particular. Up to this point, so much of our perception of Kashio is coloured by his own insecurity, self-doubt, and imposter syndrome. Then we get a moment of seeing Kashio through how Sawakita sees him, and it shows why she's attracted to him. That whole segment of his musical ability was something that Kashio's own self-bias fails to see in himself, to where as readers, we barely take note of it either.

• The song Kashio plays (as revealed on Wakaki's blog), is Prelude 14 by Italian mandolinist and composer Raffaele Calace. I like to play this live recording as a reference point when re-reading this chapter / when I was translating the sound effects.

I've been working with him since 2020, and both this and our scanlation of 365 Days to the Wedding couldn't have been possible without him. Which, incidentally, just finished airing its anime adaptation.

It has been years since I last watched it and read it. I remembered waiting every chapter on the last arc, The Heart of Jupiter. When it ended, I was a bit sad because I there were still questions unanswered. There were also unsatisfied of how it ended.

After, rewatching it then reread it later, I feel satisfied on the flow of the story and how it ended both on anime and manga. There are differences between anime and manga yet it does not affect much the flow of the story. I'm no longer wanting the season 4. I finally admitted that we will never had.

It was said that there are plot conveniences for Elsie at the ending but I still prefer it. The way Keima said that he will choose to prevent the war is true to searching the goddesses and the time travelling plot.

There were no need to explore Satyr because the weapon was lost. Keima's decision to choose Chihiro to end the harem.

I just wished there is more epilogue to Dokuro. I hope that she and Keima's relationship goes back similar to siblings though we have Elsie for that.

I hope to read more of Wakaki Tamiki's work. I also love 365 Days to the Wedding.

Well it is really funny that, the scene where keima is trying to tell kusonagi that he have learned the meaning of world in different meaning, this scene appears to have a stereo sound effect which you need to wear your headphones and you will realises that your left ear is the sound of mudo and the right side is the sound of galgame girls, good effort on this anime

Hey everyone interested in following one of Wakaki's latest series. Despite the gap between releases, we're still chipping away at this series, one chapter at a time.

This week's chapter was a lot of finicky moving parts, combined with one big moment where we almost misinterpreted who was speaking. Peeling back the curtain a bit, one small, interesting niche bit is that in this chapter, Mishima addresses with the honorific of 氏 ('shi'), which 1) means nothing to the average English-reading manga fan, 2) differs from how he was previously using '-kun', 3) is mostly used in Japanese to extremely politely refer people you don't know in Newspapers or academic journals, and 4) is occasionally used by Japanese geeks and 'geek' characters to refer to their peers.

Special thanks as always to my translator-collaborator /u/TARDISboy. Translating Japanese is tricky enough as is, so having someone willing to spend that time deciphering the chapter's Kansai-ben as well, is something that I'm always grateful for.

Apologies for the delay. The series is on a quasi-weekly schedule (3 weekly issues on, 1 weekly issue off), but we've had some real-life issues that have taken up some of our time.

Anyway, this chapter was interesting. Like with 365 Days to the Wedding, one of the small niche details I like doing is using 'canonical', official translated terms for whatever the institution or business uses in English translation, and so I literally looked up the Kyoto University syllabus to see what their official English names of courses are. Also, see if you can catch the TWGOK easter egg in this chapter.
