I'm not entirely sure exactly when it happened, but "Perfect Strangers" is now available on-demand and on a live channel called "Hit Sitcoms" (doesn't have its own dedicated channel). I guess the theme song's appearance in "Only Murders In the Building" and Mark Linn-Baker's recurring role on "Ghosts" sparked interest in the show from enough people.
I just watched the "Sister Theresa" episode that is about mid-way through season 2 and thought it was the funniest episode of the season up to this point.
With that being said, this season has an odd vibe to it IMO. What happened to Minkus? Where is theme song? Why are there actors well into their 20s playing high school students? Why is the staff so oblivious to the high volume of bullying going on right in the halls?
I recently bought Growing Pains the complete series on dvd and it's nice, but I wish Just The Ten Of Us had been included with it since it was a spin-off of that show. I know Bill Kirchenbauer wants it.
What do you think?
Using the following criterias (and the percentage value it should have in your consideration) which TGIF shows aged the best AND the worst:
33.33 %: political correctness
33.33 %: pop culture references that stood/didn't stood the test of times
33.33%: storylines' relevance today
Also...just to add personally I don't think it's wrong to enjoy a show that didn't necessarily age well (as long as it was not intended to hurt or harm) so this is just for fun :)
Who wants to play a fun game where we take our fave TGIF shows and make it into a different genre?
I'll start and make my fave Step by Step into a socially aware drama set somewhere like Missouri (think Winter's Bone). A heart wrenching drama about two sex addicted single parents whose partners mysteriously disappeared and now living paycheck from paycheck while trying to make their 6 kids stay in school and their cousin from...in this case Alabama... wants to ease the load of their shoulders by trying to woo his step-cousin and let her come live in his meth-lab/van (that one really hurt my Cody/Dana shipping heart)
Anyone wants to join in with their genre swaps? :) Full House as Art House? Boy meets world as a thriller?
That was always so weird to me. ABC was known for family sitcoms and shows, especially teen and kid-friendly shows, while the demographics for CBS skewed older. Having Family Matters and Step By Step on CBS was something I could never fully get used to, especially since so much had changed for that final year for both shows. The original Harriette Winslow left and Brendan Lambert was gone without a word.
