Can’t export FBX

Hello I’m new to syntheyes. I’m currently trying to export a FBX but everytime I go to filmbox FBX and export my scene, it ends just exporting as an empty OBJ. What am i doing wrong? All setting are default.

Replacing a shot with handles

A bit inexperienced here, so apologies in advance.

I have tracked about 6 complicated shots, only to have a client present new versions of them with extended heads and tails. I have tried using the add shot option to bring the new shots into Syntheyes. The result gives me a new untracked camera, but yet the old is still there, and it won’t account for new frames when doing a new solve.

Does anyone know a simple method to import the new shot, and only track the extended handles of the shot?

Camera position

I’m working on a project and am wondering if SynthEyes has the ability to determine the actual position of the camera from which the footage is being shot? I’ve tried to search if this is possible, but all I’ve been finding are tutorials on how to camera solve. I’m new to the software so I’m not entirely sure if this is a feature. If so, how would one go about figuring this out?

Constraining points like in 3DEqualizer

Been trying to teach myself syntheyes, and have been hitting a roadblock in regards to online tutorials. I’m ultimately wondering if syntheyes has a feature comparable to 3DEqualizers ability to constrain a point to a vertice/line/face on geomoetry, and then rotate it into the correct lineup using that one constrained point. So far I’ve struggled to find something like this from my own digging, but I could just be getting lost in the UI.

Help: Tracking shots with people in them.

If any Syntheyes users are around I could use some help. I've got a music video of entirely green screen footage and am currently going through them tracking the camera movement for use in AE and Blender. Even though we placed tracking points every 3' on the green screen wall yet Syntheyes's auto tracking always places them on the people (the most unreliable places for tracking camera movement), not the green screen tracking points. I've been just doing manual tracker placement to get around this.

Been reading and watching tutorials but every single one I've found tutorial does not discuss tracking shots with people in them. Only tracking shots comprised of architecture and objects which I've never found difficult even when using AE, Mocha and Blender's internal tracking tools.

I feel like I must be missing something obvious because I can't imagine there's not an easier way to get camera tracking on shots like this and not just unpopulated video footage of landscapes, buildings and the usual tutorial subject matter. If you have any insight into this I'd greatly appreciate it. I really thought filming with tracking data on the walls (with c-stands and lights for foreground tacking) would be helpful but I'm spending just as much time manually tracking this as I would have without those since the software doesn't seem to recognize them unless I specifically track them manually.

Lastly, I'm not ending to track planes or place objects into this. Literally just need the camera movement data.

Thanks so much for your time and help!

An issue with loading 4k footage

While the smaller version loaded without issue, the original 3840x2160 version of the video caused SynthEys to freeze when loading.

Please help with advice!

Image Preprocessor - Save Sequence is exporting cropped frames!

Hi team,

A little help please. When I save my undistorted sequence from the Image Preprocessor, if outputs frames that are cropped on the right and bottom. They look fine in the viewport and preview window. Any help is appreciated!

Google Earth trackers

Has anyone had any experience importing .json tracker data from GE into syntheyes? I can get everything to import correctly so it says, but suddenly the scene is subatomic in size and orientation of the scene doesn't seem correct.

Syntheyes Advice

I'm fairly new to tracking/camera lens distortion workflows, and I'm looking at purchasing SynthEyes for an immediate upcoming project. I basically need some software that can use a snapshot of a distortion grid taken on set, undistort my footage for use in Maya, I'll then be rendering with V-Ray and compositing in After Effects. Previous to this project I've been using Blender for tracking... It's ok but doesn't play too well with Maya.

I'm wondering how do I (or can I use) use the distortion grid/data from Syntheyes to correctly distort my multi-pass EXR renders from V-Ray, for use in After Effects so everything gels nicely? Is it possible?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Syntheyes was recently sold to become part of the BorisFX family is this a good thing or a bad thing and will permanent licenses go away?

Syntheyes to Unreal Engine

Hey guys. Although there are a ton of export options in Syntheyes, I notice that Unreal Engine is not one of them. Does anybody know of a workflow between these programs?

Google drive link anyone?

Anyone willing to upload their syntheyes setup.exe? or their program files folder?
Just troubleshooting to see if it's my syntheyes account messing this up or my pc?
Thanks a bunch!

Track good but 3D solve is out of square

Hello all. Have a bit of an issue. I've been given footage of a dolly shot that's moving over a game board. The shot is a bit blurry so most of my tracks are manual. The solve is 1.231 hpix in a 4k shot which I think is good. While a box object in Syntheyes sticks to the ground it appears out of square. That is to say that the 3D box does not line up with the rectangular box on the surface of the game board. Screen shot includes for reference.

Any thoughts?

Syntheyes match of an object

Hey guys, I have to track this mirror and I can notm figure out why the perspective is wrong. I created a plane right where the blue trackers are, which are all on the same flat mirror surface. But it will never perfectly match. What am I doing wrong?

inverted video input issue

I'm a solid beginner with Syntheyes and just use it to bring camera path data into Houdini. I want to do more with it, but I have one issue that I can't find a solution for (google wasnt helpful). I bring video in that I shot with my Samsung Galaxy phone. If I load the video into After Effects, the video is right-side up. But in Syntheyes, it load upside down. Easy to fix in Houdini but I am curious if there is a way to invert the video in Syntheyes since (according to Adobe), the video is correctly oriented. Thoughts?

Object constrain question

Looking for some info. I'm looking for a way to constrain a moving object to a certain axis when I solves. I'm working on a shot where an actor quickly turns a piece of paper around to face another actor across a table and slides it towards them. Paper is always flat on the table. Moving camera solves easily enough, with every little error. The object however always dips down below the table as the actor turns it around. Lots of trackers, the graph is all green and grey. Is there a way to keep the object constrained on vertical translate? I'm stumped.

moving trackers in 3d space?

Pretty new to synth eyes. Wondering if its possible to move trackers in 3d space. The trackers are accurate 2d Wise but when in left camera view they are all flat.

Has anyone encountered the "conflicting links" error when trying to combine 2 trackers?

If so, what does it means? No trace of it in the user manual as far as I can read.

Suggestions thread regarding this subreddit

Welcome everyone, this subreddit is going to be a bit empty at start but that is to be expected, SynthEyes being quite a specific tool. But overtime we should see some posts appearing since there is not much other forums out there dedicated to this software as far as I know.

Please submit any suggestion regarding the subreddit right here in comment.

Thanks, and happy tracking :)
