I am on vacation in Europe right now from the States, traveling to Zurich from Salzburg next. Can anyone recommend any shops that have some guns I wouldn’t find in the US? IE: Norinco, Kalashnikov, Serbian M21s, HK243s, things of that nature.
Thanks!
Hello All,
Does anyone have any experience in dynamic shooting training or dynamic shooting competitions in Switzerland, near Geneva?
I found information on the Swiss Dynamic Shooting Association , which I understand is part of the IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation), but I had trouble finding any practical information on events/matches, training becoming a member etc…it’s unclear how to sign up or how to get any information here, does anyone have any advice?
I would be interested in learning how to train and compete in the PCC and pistol categories
Cheers!
Hallo Zusammen
Hello,
I lost one of the screws holding on the butt plate of my K31. Does anybody know where I can find a replacement screw? Preferably in Switzerland. I couldn‘t find an adequate screw in the hardware store and my google searches only find listings for entire butt plates with screws.
Thanks in advance.
I'd like help to find out where was my K31 used and maybe if the soldier that used it is still alive. The rifle was manufactured in 1948.
Disclaimer: I'm not going to venture in that world as this isn't America and I like to abide by the laws.
But I'm curious what Swiss gun laws say about 3D printing and the weapon world. For example, legally obtaining a Glock 17 with all the paperwork and making a custom chassis from 3D printing and the i think it's called "small" permit intended for rifles and handguns, and keeping all of the parts, not doing anything insistently nefarious, would that be legal or would that warrant something like a gun manufacturer license/permit?
I feel that with 3D printing becoming more and more advanced and when analysing some partially 3D printed gun projects, some are so well made they can hold up to 200-500 rounds, handguns in particular. As there are a few splinter cell groups doing this in Europe, It is a relatively racy and new concept to think about for a Swiss man.
What do you all think? Cheerio.
So I’m 19 years old, born in switzerland, and I love guns, idk really know why. But I really want to own both a rifle and a pistol. And I don’t really know how to apply for a permit and how hard it is. I have no criminal record, i am part of the classic 300m shooting club that is in every village.
I would like to own a pistol, preferably a glock or a sig, it’s to shoot in both a private shooting range, and in competitions I would also like an ar-15, a geissele super-duty mod1 10.3’’ to be precise, this one is just ‘’for fun’’ and to be used exclusively in a private shooting range. I would also like to acquire an optic, a red-dot for my rifle, would I need another permit or is the first one enough.
As I said I’m 19 years old so kinda dumb and don’t really know anything but I know one thing for sure it’s that I want to do everything legally since I had absolutely no problems with the law and don’t want any.
Thanks a lot
Hi all, I'm going to be taking a holiday from the UK across the southern side of Switzerland in early October. Starting in Geneva for a few days, before driving into the mountains around Sion for a couple of days then heading to lake Zurich for a few more days.
I'm very interested in experiencing shooting in Switzerland. Both the traditional longer range rifle shooting as well as pistols and more modern weapons. I have visited ranges in the UK and Canada so I am not a complete novice. Through my own research I've seen both Tactic Hall and Brünig Indoor are well located along my route and look suitable to my eyes. Do you folk have any opinions on these locations or recommendations of other ranges within my general vicinity? It would be nice to rifle shoot at an outdoor range as that experience seems pretty iconic to Switzerland.
Many thanks in advance
Hallo, ich wollte mich mal darüber informieren wie viele Waffen man in der Schweiz besitzen darf. Konnte im Netz leider nichts konkretes finden.
Hi all
I did an intro course in Zurich on how to handle a pistol and one of the things the instructor suggested was to try out a few different guns before I buy one. Where would I do this? I was thinking of visiting the shooting club at Albisrieden and hoping they have a couple I can hire to try out.
Second question is, are there any courses which go beyond the absolute basics for English speakers? Or a group of English speakers I could tag along with to further develop my shooting skills?
Thanks!
Hi guys!
I'm a journalist working on a short doc about swiss gun culture! I'm still researching for it, so while speaking to experts and organisations too, I'm always very keen on learning people's perspectives, and I find that reddit is a forum I wouldn't otherwise have!
So for whoever feels like it, I could really use your help! If you were to explain what Swiss gun culture is like, what would you say? Do you feel like it's opposite to the idea the world has of Switzerland as a neutral country, or do you actually think the two things are linked?
Is it anywhere in Switzerland the same, or does it really depend on the canton? Would you say it's common for people to learn shooting from a young age? Do you have a story or idea to share on this, or any suggestion on what you think is less covered by the media on this topic?
Thank you in advance!!
I know every canton has some slight variations in storing and such, but are there any big differences?
I live in ZH and is it really the New York City of switzerland in terms of legally getting your hands on guns?
I stumbled across a post on this sub discussing how gun friendly each Canton is and one user spoke highly of Bern, saying it's even more gun friendly than Geneva, and mentioned how it's "super easy even you're a foreigner". However, what does that mean exactly? I'm planning to move to Switzerland and I'm considering Bern so this could be a big deal for me.
Is there a good list of the requirements for getting a SON for a select fire gun, in various Cantons?
If not, could we maybe put one together?
I know that in some you have to have been a gun owner for 5 years, in others you have to own 10 guns already, and in some it's a combination of that. AFAIK in Geneva it can be your first gun.
I'm mostly curious in how many Cantons are like Geneva, and also, how strict is the strictest Canton.
Baselland 10 guns on 10 separate WES
Schaffhausen Own 12 guns and be a gun owner for 5 years.
Ticino Larmed storage room with a safe, collector's permit which requires a test.
Vaud 2 safes
Grunge + Elmiger is releasing new accessories for the stgw90 that (logically) will be approved for 2025
Essentially they made parts so that the 90 is compatible with 57 stuff
I bought a gun in late 2019 on an ABK. (I originally put in the permit request before the change of law but I suspect that the weapons office just let my submission sit around and collect dust for two months until the change of law took effect so I had to redo it 🙄). Anyway, I bought that gun and since it's now been five years so time to submit my proof of shooting, I looked at the form and understood that as having to send them a photocopy of the entries in my "Schiessbüchlein".
I made those copies in nice color quality with more than enough entries to qualify, and sent them to the cantonal gun office in Zürich. But that was like 6 weeks ago and I never heard anything back from them.
Has anyone else already had to do this? Did you get any kind of feedback about having qualified? I'm kind of debating on whether I should re-send that letter a second time as registered mail just to be sure they don't come at me in a few months.
Can someone please translate this soldiers ID card to me? From what I understand his name is Hams Neff born in 1929 and is a rifleman? Headquarters ? 84th company ? I'm guessing the last part is the location of residence ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
I'm a foreigner who recently got my C permit, and I live in Adliswil, ZH. I've visited some gun ranges here where you can rent guns, but now I'm looking to get my own and join a club. However, it feels like there's some implicit knowledge I’m missing that’s preventing me from fully understanding what’s possible at these clubs. The ones closest to me are http://www.svadliswil.ch and http://asvl.ch. They list some training sessions and matches on their calendars, but I assume I can't just show up and join. What's the usual process? They have some open days, but the next one isn't until November.
I'm looking for a couple of things. First, I'd like a range where I can shoot occasionally, ideally a place that's open more frequently. I found https://sg-zueri9.ch, which seems to somewhat fit, though they’re only open on Saturdays during the autumn and winter. I also visited the https://www.swiss-shooting-range.ch/range/spreitenbach but it's a bit of a drive from Adliswil, and they only have lanes up to 20m. Is there something more casual and with longer ranges around Zurich, preferably closer to Adliswil?
Second, I'm interested in getting into sport shooting, but I’m not sure where to start. There seem to be so many different disciplines. Do people usually compete in several at the same time, or do you need to choose one to focus on? I’m particularly interested in longer-range shooting.
Hello!
According to Swiss law, weapons in the home must be kept in a secure place.
But is it possible to display them and store the firing pin in a safe, for example?
Hi !
I was considering purchasing an EOTEch and the 3X scope for my AR15 but the price here are, well, stellar. Is it allowed to buy an second hand one for the US ?
I have a somewhat rare 22 LR rifle and I found a factory 5 round magazine for sale in the UK. Is it legal to order this and have it sent to me via post? Does this count as "importing weapons or weapon parts" and require some legal documents? If it matters, the rifle in question is a semi-automatic action and the original magazine capacity for the gun is 5 schuss 22 LR. I bought the rifle on a WES permit.
