Hi y'all,
So I've done my RS a while back and decided to take my STGW 90 to the indoor range with me. However, I don't "own" the gun yet since I haven't done all my WK's. I only have the standard 20 rds mag for the gun and my question is now, is it legal for me to take the gun with that mag to the indoor range? Or would I have to buy another mag? In my opinion it shouldn't be an issue since you can also take the same mag to the Feldschiessen... Or does anyone know different?
Hi, i am from the usa and was wondering what the gun importing laws were like because a own a few guns (some are fully automatic) and i have no idea what they are like.
There's a neat article on wikipedia which lists off firearm regulations by US state and while there isn't an equivalent article for swiss cantons I wonder if there's a website which lists off information in a similar manner.

Hallo Zusammen,
As far as I know...
Bern: no additional requirements on top of federal regulations
Geneva: same as Bern
Basel Landschaft: owning at least 10 firearms on 10 different WES/SON
Zurich: having been a gun owner for at least 5 years and owning at least 12 guns.
What about your canton?
I’m a young shooter (young only at heart sadly) and I was wondering how you can buy weapons in such event ? Donc have to « pre » buy a permit in case of I find something I want ? Is this a great event to buy ammo ?
Thanks for your knowledge.
Was plinking off a few rounds today, just 9mm pistol at 25m stand and had a fairly big flash from the muzzle and ejector port and felt a little sting in my eye.. I carried on but it got worse over next couple of hours and I ended up at the urgence who sent me to the eye hospital . The doctor there found a tiny fragment of 'something' , she couldn't tell what it was other than it was very sharp and had scratched my cornea a lot!! Now I have eye drops and gel for a month!!
I can only guess it was unburnt powder?
So wear your safety glasses - especially with cheap magtech 9mm maybe :-)
Hi Everyone after a recommendation for someone who could modify Spas 15 magzines to 2 rounds - as where I live 2 rounds is the legal limit for detachable magazines.
appreciate your help or recommendations !
I am a C-foreigner (born and lived here my whole life) but as austrian national i did my army service there.
Austrians are deeply mistrusting their citizens, so very restrictive gun control and you cant buy off your rifle after military service, the famous Steyr AUG A1. But mostly in a bad condition, unpersonal weapon.
As a teenager I did the jungschützen Kurs and even here the VBS lends you a rifle while austrians dont trust you to take it to the shooting range.
Where can you source used Army SIG550? I heard most swiss servicemen are able to buy it for peanuts, but where do they sell? Or do they all keep it? My google searches seem to show only new stuff, 3-4k.
Would like to buy one to do some occasional practice. Obviously id obtain a WES, by the book.
Thanks for your insight :)
Hey guys, hypothetically if someone were to acquire a gun that’s 60+ cm on his sports permit (not collector) then later changes to a collapsible stock that is less than 60cm when collapsed, how illegal is it? (Asking for a friend)
I am thinking of finally getting myself an AR-15. I have been a gun owner for about 10 years and already have a variety of guns. Including a NEDI AK, which i have made as AR like as possible by investing a lot of money and time over the years. But i want something more compact and lighter in 5.56.
I'd say i have a reasonably good knowledge of guns in general. However i've never really looked into the details of what to look for in an AR. Because it seems whenever i try to do so, using my usual sources of mostly american youtubers and redditors, most of the brands and stuff they mention arent available here (PSA for example). And half the stuff available here isnt in america or at least they never mention any of it (Schmeisser, Astra, Wyssen Defence, Haenel, LuxDefTec, Emtan etc).
How do you even find info on AR brands that is actually relevant to us? Because i dont want to have to start all over 10 times after realising whatever i thought i want isnt available here at all or only in a totally different price bracket...
Essentially what i am looking for is a decent quality AR-15 in 5.56mm with a short-ish barrel to get into some dynamic shooting. I already have a stgw90 for longer ranges, so i dont want a 16+ inch (which excludes the S&W and Ruger offerings i think). So like 10.5-14.5 inch. Sweet spot would prob be 11.5-12.5.
Preferrably i wouldnt want to spend LMT/HK/MCX level money. But something like 2k on the base rifle. Plus then another 1000 or so on a holosun optic, some mags and maybe another B&T suppressor.
Do you have any good sources for swiss/european AR info? Or maybe just some experience with some of these brands to help me narrow it down. Or you know of any good shops that could help with that?
Tldr: looking for a decent 10.5-14.5 inch AR-15 around 2k (base rifle) but most info online is america specific. So about brands not available here and not taking into account many of the brands we do have. Any tips on where to look or what to buy (or not to buy)?
A few weeks ago I posted a question here about ranges to visit during a holiday traveling across Switzerland. https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitzerlandGuns/s/hnmUoRzus5
I really hoped to visit Bruenig Indoor and Swiss Shooting Range but they were closed on the days I was on the road (Monday) or near Zurich (Tuesday)
But Tactic Hall is open all week and was close enough to be manageable while I was staying near Sion
The original plan was to have a ‘discovery tour’ where I’d try 15 different weapons from across time with supervision. Unfortunately they already had a booking on that day. After a few conversations where I explained my experience and a quick primer I was allowed to shoot autonomously. I paid for the range time, ammo, targets and for rental on each weapon, I felt the prices were fair based on my experiences shooting in Canada. As this was my one chance I may have said fuck any budget. My shooting wasn’t super great initially but I did gradually dial in and my groups tightened up. It was nice to asses my performance but I was there to mostly let rip and have some fun.
The range was an amazing facility, decent selection to rent, LOADS of stuff to buy and a great bar! I spent a lot of time between magazines talking to the owner about all manner of things and he was a good egg, ex military and police. He built the facility (inc a live fire kill house nearby) for forces to train there but also for civilians of all experience to shoot. If you ever find yourself in the region, I heartily recommend it.
I shot: Sig Sauer M17, CZ Scorpion, Glock 34, Beretta 92X Performance
Steyr Aug, FN SCAR, Ruger 556
Diamond Back DB10
I have been living in Switzerland for 3 years. I have a Spanish passport and I am married to a Swiss and have a B resident permit. When I came to Switzerland my Spanish gun permit was still valid, but has expired since then (over 1 year ago). Recently I applied to purchase a .22lr pistol for training along with a silencer to add to my "collection". I have a Glock 19 and an AK-47. This morning the police called me to tell me my Spanish gun permit is expired and I am not allowed to own a gun with a B permit. I believe they only realized that my permit was expired because I applied for a new weapon. In any case, does anyone have any experience with having a gun with a B permit? Since I've been living in Switzerland I have not and will not renew my Spanish license. I am married and settled here.
I am on vacation in Europe right now from the States, traveling to Zurich from Salzburg next. Can anyone recommend any shops that have some guns I wouldn’t find in the US? IE: Norinco, Kalashnikov, Serbian M21s, HK243s, things of that nature.
Thanks!
Hello All,
Does anyone have any experience in dynamic shooting training or dynamic shooting competitions in Switzerland, near Geneva?
I found information on the Swiss Dynamic Shooting Association , which I understand is part of the IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation), but I had trouble finding any practical information on events/matches, training becoming a member etc…it’s unclear how to sign up or how to get any information here, does anyone have any advice?
I would be interested in learning how to train and compete in the PCC and pistol categories
Cheers!
Hallo Zusammen
Hello,
I lost one of the screws holding on the butt plate of my K31. Does anybody know where I can find a replacement screw? Preferably in Switzerland. I couldn‘t find an adequate screw in the hardware store and my google searches only find listings for entire butt plates with screws.
Thanks in advance.
I'd like help to find out where was my K31 used and maybe if the soldier that used it is still alive. The rifle was manufactured in 1948.
Disclaimer: I'm not going to venture in that world as this isn't America and I like to abide by the laws.
But I'm curious what Swiss gun laws say about 3D printing and the weapon world. For example, legally obtaining a Glock 17 with all the paperwork and making a custom chassis from 3D printing and the i think it's called "small" permit intended for rifles and handguns, and keeping all of the parts, not doing anything insistently nefarious, would that be legal or would that warrant something like a gun manufacturer license/permit?
I feel that with 3D printing becoming more and more advanced and when analysing some partially 3D printed gun projects, some are so well made they can hold up to 200-500 rounds, handguns in particular. As there are a few splinter cell groups doing this in Europe, It is a relatively racy and new concept to think about for a Swiss man.
What do you all think? Cheerio.
So I’m 19 years old, born in switzerland, and I love guns, idk really know why. But I really want to own both a rifle and a pistol. And I don’t really know how to apply for a permit and how hard it is. I have no criminal record, i am part of the classic 300m shooting club that is in every village.
I would like to own a pistol, preferably a glock or a sig, it’s to shoot in both a private shooting range, and in competitions I would also like an ar-15, a geissele super-duty mod1 10.3’’ to be precise, this one is just ‘’for fun’’ and to be used exclusively in a private shooting range. I would also like to acquire an optic, a red-dot for my rifle, would I need another permit or is the first one enough.
As I said I’m 19 years old so kinda dumb and don’t really know anything but I know one thing for sure it’s that I want to do everything legally since I had absolutely no problems with the law and don’t want any.
Thanks a lot
Hi all, I'm going to be taking a holiday from the UK across the southern side of Switzerland in early October. Starting in Geneva for a few days, before driving into the mountains around Sion for a couple of days then heading to lake Zurich for a few more days.
I'm very interested in experiencing shooting in Switzerland. Both the traditional longer range rifle shooting as well as pistols and more modern weapons. I have visited ranges in the UK and Canada so I am not a complete novice. Through my own research I've seen both Tactic Hall and Brünig Indoor are well located along my route and look suitable to my eyes. Do you folk have any opinions on these locations or recommendations of other ranges within my general vicinity? It would be nice to rifle shoot at an outdoor range as that experience seems pretty iconic to Switzerland.
Many thanks in advance
Hallo, ich wollte mich mal darüber informieren wie viele Waffen man in der Schweiz besitzen darf. Konnte im Netz leider nichts konkretes finden.
Hi all
I did an intro course in Zurich on how to handle a pistol and one of the things the instructor suggested was to try out a few different guns before I buy one. Where would I do this? I was thinking of visiting the shooting club at Albisrieden and hoping they have a couple I can hire to try out.
Second question is, are there any courses which go beyond the absolute basics for English speakers? Or a group of English speakers I could tag along with to further develop my shooting skills?
Thanks!
