I'm currently learning to play "Den Ljusa Hallingen", and I like to learn about the history of the folk songs I'm learning. However, I am somehow having trouble finding any information at all about this song. Does anyone in here know som interesting facts about it?
Hello everyone,
This is a piece I was given while I was in a classical singing course. It says that it's originally a Swedish folk song, but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know the original?
Hello everybody, since this subreddit is for Swedish Folk Music i thought i could do a ranking of the albums by Nordman. The Swedish folk duo consisting of the singer Håkan Hemlin and harp player Mats Wester. I guess this subreddit is mostly for suggesting videos and music but as a thought this is still for Swedish folk music.
This ranking will be as i rank the albums and songs while i give the albums 1-5 points to my opinion on the albums. Hope you enjoy reading this.
Album ranking:
Self titled (Nordman) 1994.
An amazing record of folk rock and pop mixed into the blend. Makes some vibes of Burzum too with a more Swedish tone to it. Certainly a 5/5
Song ranking:
Ingenmansland 1995
Another amazing record made by Nordman, their second album titled (No Man's Land) blend the same type of folk rock and pop in the album as the first album. Ingenmansland certainly works better than the first one. A 5/5 points.
Song Ranking:
Här & Nu (1997)
Here and now is the third record made by them and still they could catch the Nordic audience into loving them. This record was leaning more into the Heavier nature of Nordman's sound as some songs could be Hard Rock or even Metal songs. A album of real caliber and gets a 4/5 points.
Song Ranking:
Anno 2005
Nordman took a long pause from 1997-2005 while the singer was battling his addiction to drugs and alcohol. He became better in 2005 as they released their forth album. This album falls into the more forgettable albums made by Nordman, even if the album is great its still more forgettable than the other ones. One thing that makes this album so forgettable is all the ballads. There are too much ballads and only a few songs with a more rocky vibe to it. So it receives a 3/5
Song Ranking:
Djävul Eller Gud (2008)
Djävul eller Gud was a turning point for Nordman was the duo was leaning into the more Hard Rock / Folk Metal themes. This album feels as a legit Lord Of The Rings soundtrack and it mixes perfect with the music style and how it's sung. Even the few ballads here are perfectly mixed and sung prior to the earlier albums. I give this album a 4.5/5
Song Ranking:
Korsväg (2010)
Korsväg features more of that Hard Rock vibe from the album prior, but this album takes it better and makes it more into a Hard Rock album of Folk Music and Pop. Korsväg is also my favorite album by Nordman was it was the album i first listened to and made me like Nordman at first. The vocal melodies and instruments are all so good in this record and it makes the album sound both so cozy and warm while still being such a creepy and vibing album. A solid 5/5.
Song Ranking:
Tänk Om (2019)
The most recent album by Nordman and this was a quite handful of opinions i had about it as i first listened to it. I would give this album a 3/5 as it is a good album but also a hit and miss album as it doesn't give in the same feeling of their other albums. Some songs are still good and have their vibes to it.
Song Ranking:
So this was my ranking of their albums and i hope you enjoyed reading it and like to post your own opinions on their albums, songs and other things about the post.
Ikke svenske, men jeg og kjæresten min (som er fra norge) skrev denne visen om høsten og tenkte kanskje noen her kunne likt å høre på den :D
Not swedish, but me and my girlfriend (from norway) wrote this song about autumn and thought maybe someone here would like to listen to it :D
