Games where you are part of the ecosystem, and you're stuck in it for the whole game. As opposed to games like Minecraft, Subnautica, Satisfactory etc. where you rise out of/distance yourself the ecosystem eventually.
I've recently gotten addicted to survival games with Subnautica and Raft becoming my number 2 and 3 all-time favourites. I remember hearing about survival games back in the day and am not ashamed to admit the prospect of having to eat food, drink water, and sleep unless you die not sounding like compelling gameplay, lol. The first game with survival mechanics I ever played was actually Breath of the Wild believe it or not. Afterward, I picked up Subnautica on a Steam sale for $3 and it was off to the races after that. I'm currently playing Sunkenland and am eye balling Stranded Deep next.
I've read in some places talking about Sunkenland, which aren't very many admittedly, that the game has a very basic survival loop. I was wondering, what are some unique survival mechanics you guys would like to see in a game?
I’m looking for some sort of couch co-op game to play with my partner!
we have a PS5 & Xbox One.
would prefer couch co-op because we like to be in the same room when we play games together & right now we don’t have a room set up with 2 separate televisions.
we also have switches for a local co-op, but would prefer something that we only have to purchase on one console.
we’ve played Stardew Valley, It Takes Two, Cult of the Lamb
not really interested in like Terraria style games
You can check out all the details here.
But that’s not all! You can also try the free demo—available right on its Steam page!
And yes, there’s more! Death Nomad is currently on sale—don’t miss out!
Me and my mate are on ps5 and our other mate is on xbox series x can you recommend some fun survival coop games
Hi! My partner and I are looking at a few new games and wanted some opinions on what you all think has the most content and would last us the longest while!
We have these to pick from:
Eden Crafters, ICARUS, Enshrouded, Grounded
We played several survival games we enjoyed such as 7D2D, Abiotic Factor, Valheim, Planet Crafter, ARK, Conan Exiles etc
What do you all think is the best option or if any other options you recommend?
Joe Drake kickin' asses on the wild side
https://vanish-falls-overture.itch.io/vanish-falls-episode-i-evil-ways
This time you get inside the Special Agent Joe Dracke skin and investigate the missing of your best friend and colleague Robert Swan.
It's October 30st, Devil's night. You're neck-deep in a terrible missing people case and you sense a terrible invisible evil creep up in the shadows and growing ever larger. Don't know what it is, but you can feel it.
Now Robert has vanished for helping you and must find out what dangerous shit he got himself into.
Who is trustworthy? Think you're alone in this fight, but very soon you gonna find out that's not the real truth...
Thx a lot to all of you for the feedback and comments about the story, graphics, etc...
Last month, after a long search for a base-building survival game similar to The Forest and Green Hell, I struggled to find one that fit the bill. I wasn’t interested in the kids-shrinking game or Subnautica, the underwater one. I wanted a game with rivers, lakes, oceans, and forests, along with base-building, but without a hardcore focus on constructing a big mechanism. Building items was enjoyable, but I preferred something with a simpler, exploration-focused survival experience.
Initially, I found it quite difficult due to the game’s complex tool usage and building mechanics. I admit, this was partly my own fault, as I can be quite impatient with learning new gameplay mechanics. However, after a month of playing, I found it superior to both The Forest and Green Hell—though I appreciate those games for different reasons. This new game is far more open-world, allowing extensive exploration, with user-friendly tools and much simpler building processes. There is a bit of frustration with needing "Part 1" to craft "Part 2" (or needing "Item A" to create "Item B," but requiring "Item B" to make "Item A" first). However, once you figure it out, you can construct some impressive things.
The highlight for me is becoming well-equipped defensively and venturing out to hunt for items, facing different levels of predators. These encounters become manageable once you have the right weapons, adding to an excellent overall experience.
However, there’s one significant drawback: it crashes incessantly. The Forest had a similar issue, though being an older game, it wasn’t really designed for the PlayStation console. Yet, even after a year-long launch delay, this game suffers from constant freezes and crashes. Sometimes, it even prompts me to load a different save file instead of the last saved one, making me lose progress between those saves. It’s not visual glitches but full crashes, often resulting in a black screen, requiring the “unstuck respawn” option to restart from the last location. This becomes incredibly frustrating. If it were glitch-free, this would undoubtedly be the best survival game I’ve ever played.

I'm looking for the survival crafting game with preferably souls like or mordhau like combat that is fast engaging and satisfying. It should have minimal survival requirements as far as eat and drink is good, got and cold is alright. Disease is a no go.
I would prefer medieval fantasy, magic and swords is better but I strongly prefer avoiding guns.
Exploration and enemies worth fighting is a must, mobility options are also preferred.
I have enshrouded and it's combat is bad. Conan is in the same boat.
I've been watching Soulmask and Nightingale.
Soon to come out games are also worth telling me about.
Thanks!
Hello! I'm on the hunt for a survival game that lets you build up a base, is open world, and has some measure of challenge to it but not too much so I can just relax and forage, explore, and build. Single player with some NPC trader interaction would be amazing.
The closest I've come to something like this is Vintage Story, or maybe Rimworld, but I'm wondering if there are other options out there.
(Not interested in Minecraft or Modded Minecraft, Vintage Story covers those bases, thanks)
Imagine waking up 20 years later in a world consumed by Lovecraftian horror. Welcome to the Wastelands of Hysterra, where terror and madness rule. In RailGods of Hysterra, you'll need to survive, explore, craft, fight, and build a fortress on wheels as you journey through a world corrupted by the Great Old Ones.
https://i.redd.it/4kk3bgoqxnxd1.gif
Your only ally is the RailGod, a sentient locomotive pulsing with eldritch life. It hungers for the flesh of your enemies, demanding sacrifices to fuel your journey. You and your RailGod are bonded, with one shared goal - to overthrow the Great Old Ones.
Fight eldritch creatures, gather resources, and build your base. Will you wield an axe, a gun, or dark magic? The choice is yours. Are you ready to face the horror and survive the Wastelands? Apply for the playtest on Steam!
Which one should I buy? They are on sales in Steam rn. Or I shouldn't buy either of them. What I’m looking for? I’m looking for a survival game where I can build, hunt, fish, and survive as long as I can. I don’t like stories like in Green Hell where you basically follow the rails and survive meanwhile. Same with the Stranded Deep. Very repetitive and you it will end at one point no matter what. Replayability is a must. SD and GH both have no replayability for me. Once finished and done. I like The Long Dark sandbox but unfortunately there’s no building mechanic. I like DayZ but I’m looking for a game where I can relax a bit for a change and not being paranoid that someone jumps on me. So are those games for me and if yes then which one should I buy? Thank you
Ive played enshrouded, icarus, rust, sons of the forest but it always gets boring after playing longer than a month.
Are there any games like day z where you have to survive scavenge forage the whole nine yards, but without the multiplayer aspect? Specifically like post apocalyptic city landscape scavenge survival.
Let’s talk about these games: Undawn, Once Human, and Earth Revival. Earth Revival doesn't have many players yet, but I'm kind of interested in it.
I've played Undawn for months, and I noticed it leans heavily towards pay-to-win. However, P2W wasn't the main reason I quit. The primary issue was the leveling system. The game only gives you XP from daily missions and story missions. Killing zombies or doing side quests doesn’t grant any XP, forcing you to play daily for the missions, which are repetitive and get boring when you have to play the same ones over and over.
I'm curious about Once Human—what’s the leveling system like there? And to those who’ve played Earth Revival, how do you level up in that game?
Recently I've been itching to play a single player open world survival game with base building and scavenging elements with a big emphasis on environmental mood/ambiance, like in Division or Last of Us i really liked the post apocalypse feel.
I am a big fan of games like Rust but got tired of it basically becoming a job when dealing with player raids, loved Valheim but its super slow paced and grindy for solo play imo, and my most recently played survival game would be Project Zomboid but ive milked most of that game at this point even with extensive modding.
I would like a game that has the atmosphere of the Division or Last of Us, base building/scavenging/gathering like Rust, valheim, or PZ that has a causal element where i can just hop on or off whenever. Any recommendations?
As an additional, some survival games i dont quite enjoy are 7DTD (don't really like the aesthetics) and ark survival (kinda janky imo, would rather play rust). Also I really do not enjoy ocean survival, i hate the ocean.
