I've been liking the idea of picking a game for a small group of 3 - 6 players, renting a dedicated server, and sticking with it for a couple weeks to a month. The small group I'd like to try this with has been leaning towards survival games so my main focus has been those, but I'm open to any game/genre as long as it fits with these requirements:
Ideally playable with 3 - 6 players. If it's 4+ players then I'd still be interested in checking it out.
The Perfect game I think would be something like 'Once Human' where you have crafting, building, survival mechanics, action-combat (guns feel better but fine with melee or magic), and personal character progress. I have yet to find another game like Once Human but maybe I missed something.
Has little to no hassle getting a private server. I was thinking of making my own but I feel it would be too annoying to deal with right now. Think it's better to rent one for now.
One of the "issues" the group has is that people tend to run off and do their own thing rather than focusing on the group as a whole. They don't seem to mind it but it can make things really boring for me personally. That said, though we can make it work, having a game that's not too easy to solo while others aren't online would be great. If not, it's still fine.
We all play on PC so the game would need to be on Steam, Epic, or whatever other PC launcher. Only two of us have PC GamePass so games from it are fine as long as there's crossplay
Open world survival games seem to be the most popular for this kind of thing which is fine. Open to all games but I understand what's out there for the most part. To help narrow down any suggestions, these are the games we have already:
Sons of the Forest
Enshrouded
Once Human
LoTR: Return to Moria
Project Zomboid
Once Human
Raft
We haven't played through all of these but we have tried them for at least a bit. Once Human is the most ideal since it really has everything for everyone: looting, shooting, crafting, building, survival. Unfortunately, I personally can't get over the F2P feel of it and I don't care for starting and ending every 6 weeks. Enshrouded is possibly still on the table. Only issue I see so far is that I feel others would fly through the game fairly quickly with a world that's open always.
Any game suggestions for a small group between 3 - 6 players that might do well on a rented server for everyone to play whenever they want? Closer to the game 'Once Human' the better but open to all suggestions
Im looking for any "recent" survival game that offer some narration bits, and a companion at some point.
I love Minecraft but I'm not exactly creative so after all I get bored.
The other game that nearly worked for me was once human (if it didn't have a server wipe every six weeks though)
I've heard Icarus is fun
Raft also looks interesting so dose forever skies
I'm still not sold on vintage story because I don't love extremely difficult games, but I have learnt knapping only for tools and not blocks right ?
Mediaeval dynasty, and Bellwright both scratched that itch for awhile but were too janky If I'm being honest aska was okay.
Also I don't enjoy factory building games like factorio, Dyson sphere or satisfactory mostly looking for survival and base building think enshrouded
I've played Minecraft, vintage story. Raft, forever skies
Grounded, valhiem, subnautica, 7 days to die.
Mediaeval dynasty, Bellwright and aska.
Project Zomboid was okay for the most part
State of Decay 2 was definitely my most favourite zombie survival games
Would love anymore like mediaeval dynasty, base you go on the move survival games?
Asteroid Between Us:Shooter on play store.
What the tin says. I don't like games with high technological level, I want to use magic (or at least it should be an option). I won't mind having a very loose story to follow, but should be something very light, the focus should be building something (a community or w/e). I'm going to play solo, so co-op isn't necessary.
So far I've tried Medieval Dynasty, Conan Exiles, and Ark: Survival Evolved: the first is good, but feels too "real" (no magic), the second is a bit bleak, the last one is underwhelming.
I’m not a game dev, but I am building a passion project to help game developers.
As many others, gaming has been a big part of my life since I’m a 90’s kid, and I’d love for it to continue being a part of my future.
I’ve noticed that many developers have issues with either long term community building and discoverability. I don’t think discoverability can be fixed per se, but I do think it could be enhanced, and I’m working on something to do just that.
Player 3 is a combination of Patreon and Steam. I’m not trying to compete with Steam by any means, but I am trying to give gamers a place to go when they want to find something outside of the traditional keyword search or paid advertising. I’m also creating a place where gamers can create sustainable communities to help support their ongoing projects.
This is meant for small-mid sized devs and studios.
It’ll likely be out around February, but I’d love to brainstorm any thoughts, ideas, or features that you would like to see in something like this.
Fully prepared for the toxic comments as well. lol.
My friends and I have been playing modpacks for MC, like Craftoria and Hasturian Era, now we've finished them and we're looking for other modpacks or games, any suggestions?
But not just survival, but something with an overarching story with quests/missions
All suggestions welcome!
It's all in the title. I did some research and apart from a few rare games like Subnautica 2, Aloft, maybe As One We Survive and the game that looks like This War of mine (forgot the name), I didn't see many interesting proposals. There are games that are in all the lists but that I'm not interested in at all, like Dune or Blight survival, others that I'm waiting for but that don't have dates announced yet (for example Under a rock, Derelicts or Blind Descent), but overall I didn't see much.
I probably missed some games so I'd like to know what are your expectations ? And what future hidden gems do you think we'll see ?
I only played it for a few hours in 2020 where it seemed pretty basic at the time.
Really trying to strike a balance between factorio/satisfactory (building machinery, automation) and survival.
I'm playing this for a 2nd time on the hardest difficulty level. (PS4 PRO HDR) This game should've been a zombie survival. The maps seem like the perfect size and the ability to parkour, craft, and even the slight jankiness of gun play would've fit a zombie survival much better with a story ofcourse. And it could've been at least a 3 or 4 game series spreading across the U.S. adding different unique, wild predators to contend with as well. While writing this I thought about I Am Legend 😂
I am considering the following games. I’m gonna be playing solo on PC, what do you recommend?? I’m not great at games so not looking for souls level difficulty but enjoyable solo play, building, and exploring.
I am looking for co-op survival story-based games, such as Raft and Grounded. Do you have any suggestions?
Hey there! I'm kind of new to survival type games but I've discovered an absolute love for them that I'm sad took decades to develop. 🤣🤣 I was hoping y'all could reccommend some games based off of what I've played already and my tastes.
I'm looking for a more realistic leaning game that has shelter/base building mechanics to a decent degree, needs you have to meet, and hunting/foraging for food (maybe even a planting mechanic?). I'm not HUGE on constant enemies (the natives in GH scared the bejesus out of me) but I also don't want it to feel monotonous either. Here's what I've played so far:
Favorites: Green Hell (love love LOVED IT. This is almost exactly what I'm looking for!) Don't Starve (also really enjoyed it) The Flame in the Flood (one of my top replays)
Also played: Firewatch (it was okay. Not really the type of survival I'm looking for) State of Decay (big meh. Too repetitive after the first couple hours) Minecraft (definitely no, I'm looking for more realistic)
Can any of you guys point me in the right direction? I have xbox one X and ps5. :) thanks so much!
Does anyone have a PVE sever on Dayz?? I'm not a PVP person, I just got the game off the gamepass, been wanting to try it out! So far, loving it! But the first server I join I guess wasn't meant for other people to join because I not only got killed for nothing but was also kicked by the host of the server I'm assuming. In quite a large map and with one other person on the server besides me I find it very hard and he was able to find me twice. Still I'm curious if anyone knows a good PVE server to join or how to find them, I think I have the just of it but I just want to make sure
Is there a game similar to Fractured online/Legend of Aria/Wild terra 2 that I can host on my machine and play with my community? 20/30 players (medieval)
that gives this feeling of MMORPG progression, sandbox, farming, housing, etc.
Does anyone have any tips or recommendations?
My group is going back and forth between Valheim and 7d2d and I'd like to get a new game in the rotation. I've had my eye on Core Keeper for a while and it's on sale now. Things that matter to us: moddable games we can run our own server for, incentive for all of us to team up (boss fight, day 7, etc), tasks you can do solo if no one else is on, and how grindey it is. Thanks in advance!
I love the idea of building bases and raiding bases but I hate the idea of knowing that no lifeing a game gives me a massive advantage over opponents.
Are there any PvP base builiding and base raiding games that have shorter lobby durations?
I'm looking for a survival game that has the same kind of vibe as trying to survive the storm in fortnite
In November, there was a game called something similar to “Enil” it was like a Rimworld type of game but it had a fantasy world. You build your own town in that game. So I was hoping if anyone knows what I am talking about.
