P.S. Happy New Year everyone!
Hi everyone! I'm currently in the process of completing my thesis for my MA in Counselling Psychology and after struggling with my own self-harm for years, I am interested in studying the factors that help and hinder self-harm recovery for Asian Canadians. If this resonates with you, or someone you know, please don't hesitate to reach out! Thank you!
Hello everyone! Creator of r/StrongerScarsRecovery here!
I've been thinking a lot about my sub and I want to grow and do more. Right now I'm designing custom bracelets that will read "Stronger Skin" (basically meaning scars because we all know scar tissue is stronger than regular tissue!) and on the inside it will also have an encouraging statement I'll keep for a surprise!
Looking forward to getting them! Stay strong fellow fighters! Hope this seems like something you guys would be interested in. Let me know! I can’t wait to wear mine :) Also bracelets have always meant something to me because they go on your wrist- a place I used to self harm a lot.
Hey guys! Yesterday I hit one month clean from self harm. I celebrated it with a cupcake and a candle!!! It made me feel so good and when I hit two months I’m going to do it again!
No matter how many days you are clean, celebrate it and make yourself feel good because you deserve the praise :)
keep going, you're strong af and you got this! <3
First post, this seems like a neat sub. I'm not depressed but I struggled with self harm for about two years, but I've been clean since 2018 or so :). Sometimes it gets tough, especially when I get to feeling really numb and want to do anything to feel. I've discussed it with my therapist but something that I like to do is sit in the bathtub. Just an empty bathtub, fully clothed. I think, especially in a large household, it's an assurance that noone will burst in on you in the bathroom. I'm not sitting in a dark room, alone with my thoughts, and it's nice and cool. Sometimes I just mess around on my phone or read but it's a nice way to wait out the nasty feelings I have. I don't know if anyone will find this useful, nor do I know exactly what this sub is for, but I just wanted to write this out. To anyone else on their recovery journey, my heart goes out to you. You're a lot stronger than you might think. Feel free to ask any questions :)
