Rules
1) Submissions must be a Video of a Story
- Self explanatory. Audio over a static image or slideshow may also violate Rule 1. This includes music visualizers and lyrics.
2) No Vlog Posts
- A vlog is an amateur video with one individual who is the focus of the shot telling a personal story or discussing a story about a friend or in the news, this also applies to someone talking over footage such as telling a story while they are showing a video of them playing a video game.
3) Negative Score Post Removal
- Posts with a negative score after 24 hours will be removed.
4) No Compilations
- Posts should not include lists or compilations. Top 10 videos and the like will be removed.
5) No Self Promotion, No Solicitation of Votes or Views
- Self promotion is not allowed in /r/storytellingvideos. Do not submit links to sites that you are affiliated with with the intention of driving clicks. Native advertising and "advertorials" are also not allowed.
6) No Hate Speech
You are free to offer your opinion respectfully, but comments or posts intended to demean a group, acontextual expressions of bigotry, and the pejorative use of slurs is disallowed.

7) No Porn or Gore
- A NSFW story is one thing, but please do not submit videos including actual pornography or gore here. There are plenty of more appropriate places for that.
7) Clickbait Titles will be Deleted Unwatched

The Genius of John Prine
In this video, I dive into the profound genius of John Prine and Tom Waits. Over the years, friends had told me about John Prine’s greatness, but it wasn’t until recently that I truly listened. While enjoying a few cold ones, I stumbled upon “Hello in There” by John Prine, a song that hit me right in the soul. It’s astonishing to think he was only 24 when he wrote such a beautiful and profound song about an old man reflecting on his life.
This experience reminded me of another timeless tune, “Martha” by Tom Waits. I’ve spent many evenings drinking and smoking while listening to this song. Like Prine, Waits was in his early twenties when he wrote it. Both songs share a common thread – young men capturing the depth and emotion of old souls.
