I finally got a better stock for my Steyr HB Tactical

It's taken me years to finally ditch the garbage stock that came on my HB Tactical .308.

I found a SSG 04 stock on eBay a couple of months ago and snatched it up.

Unless I'm mistaken, the SSG 04 has a slightly longer barrel and is threaded for a silencer.

I would love to have my barrel threaded for my silencer, but don't want Joe Six-Pack doing a crap job on it, screwing up the crowning or harmonics.

Does anyone know anyone that is well known and trustworthy?

Is SSG8 worth it?

Hello! I was looking to start building a long range rifle and the SSG8 is one of the candidates. I believe it's a solid baseline, but I do not have anyone around that has it or had an experiene with it. Any thoughts?

Source for Gen 1 M9 parts?

I have a gen 1 Steyr M9 with no pic rail a friend sold me dirt cheap. Is there a source for spare parts like extractors and springs? Can new production parts work or be modified to work in the gun?

Scout 2 308

Didn't get to blast a black bear but it was definitely a fun gun to pack around! Hopefully this weekend it can eat! Had pretty good grouping out to 300 yards which I was shooting.

What handgun accessories are needed to create an aftermarket ecosystem?

It seems that Steyr pistols are disregarded for the severe lack of aftermarket support compared to other brands rather than being a low-quality pistol. I know several months ago I asked about holsters but wanted to expand the question to be

"What accessories would create an aftermarket ecosystem for Steyr pistols?"

A few I can think of are,

  • Holsters

  • Tritium trapezoidal sights

  • An optic-cutting service for lack of an optic-ready pistol.

  • Slide machining

  • Extended magazine release

  • Threaded barrel, ported barrel

  • Drop-in trigger upgrade (louder reset, flat face triggers)

  • Flared magwell

Steyr L9 A2 MF - Holster Options

Juts picked up the Styer L9 A2 Mf today and need holster options;

  1. No leather or Nylon Please.

  2. Light bearing preferred but not required

  3. Level 2 or more retention preferred but not required

  4. Must be able to obtain in the U.S.

  5. CCW/IWB options appreciated but really looking for duty/competition style holsters first.

Thanks in advance!

What exactly does Steyr manufacture in the US?

Some one asked me and I’m just not sure. I also cannot find anything outisxe of calling their Steyr USA site a manufacturer facility.

L9A2 Trigger Break In

Hey all,
Finally tracked down an L9A2 (they're a pain to get in my state) and while I love the grips and size, I can't help but notice that the trigger is significantly heavier than the M9A1 I'm 'upgrading' from. Confirmed with a gauge it's just over 6 pounds compared to the M9A1s 4.5, though the L9A2 does feel a little shorter. Have people noticed significant break-in with their L9 (or I guess any A2) triggers? My M9A1 has about 2,000 rounds on it so it's definitely seen some use compared to the unfired L9A2, just don't want to jump the gun on other parts if the A2's not going to lighten up a bit.

SSG-69 magazines broke, so...

Both of my 5 round SSG-69 magazines broke (both over 25 years old but barely used). Does anyone have any experience with these; https://www.watersrifleman.com/steyr/?

New to the Steyr family

Wife and I just picked her up. While u packing, I could not help but be impressed with the fit and finish of our new C9-A2. Even her serial number 3 times is nice. We are going to take her out hopefully today...we are new shooters and only have a few with this being our first Steyr.

The slide did do a few funny things like not fully rack forward when dry firing once. We will see how she does.

I've read through the forum for tips and ideas such as watchi g for adding a bit of lube to get her going. We are psyched to get her out today. Thanks for any thoughts if you have any, otherwise for visiting :).
