What is the best way to launch games from Epic Games Store and Amazon Games, is it still Heroic Games Launcher?
Same question for Xbox Game Pass, is still through the browser like Microsoft recommends or has something come along to make it better?
Just got GeForce now ultimate to play black ops and it works fine. I just suck at controller after using kbm for so long lol. I’m going to try installing moonlight to stream other games. Does anyone know if it will work 200 miles away from my pc? GeForce now has good ping but pretty bad resolution. Anyways, Spotify on the deck and discord too. I like this thing.
Recently I once again returned to Lordran, this time on Steam Deck. I'm not a big fan of high contrast and some graphical changes in the Remastered version so I installed the Re-remastered mod. The game looks much better but this graphical overhaul seems a bit too much for the Deck performance-wise. FPS drops are significant in Undead Burg.
So Re-remastered mod is out but maybe someone here has modded DkS on Deck and can recommend some other mods.
Anyone encounter this issue before? Anyone know how to bypass it? I bought the game ages ago and was finally giving it a try after I'd heard they worked to fix the issues but when the game boots up it seemingly boots directly into an ad for the newest expansion and none of the buttons will bypass it. Any help appreciated!
Hi! Steam Deck and pc-player newbie here. I’m going to buy a dock because I want to play some games (like GoW Ragnarök) on my 32-inch 4k benq-monitor. It has Freesync. Do I need the official dock (with a DisplayPort) for Freesync or will any cheap dock do?
Hey! I've heard that they finally fixed the issues where the docking station is not outputing the signal to external screens until it's re-plugged, the output resolution or DPMS state is changed.
Does anyone know how to flash the latest firmware on them from the SteamOS recovery image? I don't have SteamOS on mine anymore and it's too much trouble to backup my 1TB drive, install SteamOS just to update them and then restore everything back. Thanks in advance!
anyone have the same problem? not all non-steam game, some game will pop up normally, some aren't like this video
the game actually run though, but it didn't detect the controller because of that
I recently purchased homefront on my kids steam decks but can't get either one to launch. Tried all the compatibility layers as well as a few different ones from protonup that were recommended but couldn't get it to launch, only "updating executables"
Anyone got advice on how to get it up and running? Appreciate it
https://steamdeckhq.com/steamos-update-with-better-metaphor-performance-released-into-stable/
A new SteamOS update (3.6.20) was released that improves performance for Metaphor: ReFantazio by 20% and fixes some bugs.
Changelog:
General
Fixed an issue where the updater could repeatedly revert you to the previous OS version if certain configuration files were user-modified
Fixed an issue with taking multiple screenshots if Game Recording is on
Improved performance in Metaphor: ReFantazio by up to 20%
I also wrote up an article comparing Metaphor's performance before and after this update when it released into beta, if you'd like to see some of the differences found:

I don’t know why but this game doesn’t recognize any type of input on steam decks past the launcher, I even tried my PS5 controller but nothing works.
It recognized my keyboard on my laptop but for whatever reason the game is unplayable on the deck and other people are having this issue
Now that 3.6.19 has updated the BIOS to enable overclocking, has anyone got a guide on the options available or ball park figures to start with?
I've got some experience oc/uv my desktop but not sure about the deck, lol.
I’m sure this has already been asked, but I couldn’t find any posts, so I apologise if it has. Ever since the latest Steam Deck update, my battery time to depletion has significantly decreased. It’s gone down from around 10 hours max to 7.5 hours max. Does anyone know if this can be resolved? Would running the beta update help with this?
Nothing has changed—nothing new downloaded. I’m still streaming to my PC with Moonlight on the same Wi-Fi and bitrate, using the same PC, game, and settings. It was only the update. Seems counterintuitive right?
TIA
Back in the day I logged a ton of hours working my way through Discworld on PS1 and over the years it has really been one of those fond memories. Replayed it on the deck and after all these years it was still so great! Now playing Discworld 2 Mortality Bytes for the first time and it’s proving to be just as entertaining.
Hi all! just a quick question. I removed the Heroic launcher via the discovery app off my Steamdeck and was just making sure that once you remove/delete it that it leaves no residual files or anything like that behind? I had to manually remove the desktop shortcut for heroic after I had removed the app but is that it fully removed now? It's more of an OCD thing lol. Thanks everyone!
Hey all, So Squirrel With A Gun is locked to 40fps on the deck & I was wondering if anyone has found a way to gain access to the settings and save them so you can up the frame rate & change other settings?
Hello everyone, i want to ask some opinion to determine if it's a defect charger or not. Sorry for bad english.
When i was charging while taking a nap, there's buzzing noise that i can heard from 1 meter away from steam deck charger. I notice the converter was loose, i don't have other converter at the moment but i remember my late father have an outlet that can fit the steam deck charger.
I tried it on that outlet and there's no more buzzing noise but there's a new problem. The outlet was made by my late father around.. maybe 20 years ago (I only remember it already exists since i was a kid). It was custom made by him to test if there's a short circuit. If there is, the light bulb behind it will lit up.
When i tried the steam deck charger on it, the lightbulb turn on and off with 5 second interval. If there's no problem it shouldn't lit up like that. I tested it with another light bulb and it didn't lit up in interval like that. I also tested it with my laptop and phone charger, the outlet didn't behave like this.

Unlike my late father, i only know basic of electricity and i couldn't tell if it is a problem or not. I tried asking chatgpt and according to it:
The Steam Deck charger uses USB Power Delivery (PD), and the variable outputs can result in fluctuations in power draw that the older outlet's protection circuit might interpret as a fault.
I checked the charger and it's true that steam deck charger have varying output unlike laptop charger. I don't have any other charger with varying output like that so i couldn't do another test.
So, I want to know if this is a false positive or is there a defect on my charger? This is the first time i have charger with PD like this. I want to make sure it's safe and won't cause problem to my steam deck. I'm not sure i can fully trust chatgpt answer. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Based on https://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/, my country outlet is type C, it look like ( o o ) and the charger is type A, it look like ( | | )
I paused my playthrough of Horizon Zero Dawn to see how the remaster would play. On the original version, I get 40 FPS at original settings with some traversal stutters. It does look fantastic on the OLED as is though, so if performance and image quality is going to suffer on Deck I would just continue playing the original version. Also not sure if a save on the original transfers to the remastered or if you can switch between remastered and original. Curious to see if anyone has checked it out.
EDIT Managed to revert back to the previous OS and it seems to be working now.
Not sure if it's since the last update but I am constantly getting the black screen fan runs for a second issue. Happens every time I set the deck to sleep by pressing the power button, even if it's for a few seconds. The only fix I've found is booting through bios which takes a few attempts to boot. Any help or suggestions? Maybe putting it to sleep between sessions is not best practice Worried I turned my Steam Deck into a Steam Brick
Hi all, super new to Steam deck. I installed decky loader and subsequently Animation changer after I updated the deck to V3.6.19 and it does not download from the animation store.
When I click download it says downloading, and then downloaded - but the button is grayed out and the "installed" tab remains at 0.
Things I've tried:
Other plugins work flawlessly, as well as Steam itself, so it doesn't seem to be an internet connection issue.
Is this a case of the plugin not yet being updated to work with 3.6.19 or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Was downloading the most recent update to Metaphor, as well as downloading some new games, and during the update process it got stuck on the "installing" part after the initial update. I switched over to another download because it was taking so long, and when I tried hopping back to Metaphor it seemed to still be stuck. I then tried to uninstall it in order to reinstall it to fix the issue only to be told it can't because it's busy. Since it was still stuck i tried to restart my Deck only for it to get stuck and now I need to hard shut it down. Once I do start it back up and go back to downloads it doesn't look like it's stuck on Metaphor and won't let other downloads take over.
Any idea how I can fix this FUBAR created by my own stupidity?
I'm on stable and the last update makes it so my Steamdeck doesn't retain my login info. Anyone know why and how to fix?

Someone is creating an OLED panel that is compatible with the original LCD Steam Deck, and it seems like it will improve almost every aspect of the screen from that LCD panel.
This is just a heads up, after updating to 3.6 stable I found (naturally) all the stuff I installed through pacman gone, one of the things was GCC which I was using for a project since steam deck is the only x86 computer I have with me right now and what I was working on needed x86.
It was all fine, but after reboot, I see a black screen, internal and external both.
Thought of raising a valve support ticket, but I figured lemme try to take a crack at it myself, so I am unsure what value would have suggested me.
First thing I tried, was a different virtual console (ctrl + alt + F2-F4) and lo it was working, I logged in and then tried to start a plasma session manually startplasma-wayland/startplasma-x11 and both failed to start citing that, api version for libstdc++ wasnt found (3.4.32), so I digged a little and found that yeah the installed libstdc++ had only api support upto 3.4.31.
I used chatgpt to see if I could just update the deck from cli, or if possible just use pacman to sync the changes.
Now if you dont know the deck uses a pacman mirror that is maintained by valve and may not contain the latest stuff from official mirrorlists.
I didn't play around with that for the fear of messing up the system even more. I landed on steamos-* commands and tried steamos-update. Didnt work.
I saw that steamos-update was just a bash script and opened it and it said that hey that was deprecated, and to use atomupd-manager instead.
So I first switched from stable to beta, then I checked for any updates, and thankfully there was one. I applied the update the libs got downgraded and I am back to using the deck properly, no data loss, no need to reset everything.
TLDR: If you are on stable, don't install GCC at this time, will break your desktop env/display server. If you already did, use atomupd-manager to install an official update.
For some reason my Deck [LCD, 512 GB] doesn't like our wifi any more. When it fails, it'll show up as not connected, and no attempt to connect is ever made again that I can see, even though it is set to connect automatically.
It does work briefly after boot, but never after a sleep–wakeup cycle. While it's running it's intermittent; might work for a couple of minutes, even a quarter hour.
Manually going into settings and reconnecting works, until the next time it's gone.
Any known issues/workarounds? The AP is a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-HD, in case it matters.
