My least favorite and most infuriating mini game going back to being a kid. My girlfriend has never played Spyro but has been enjoying watching me play. I’ve been complaining about this mini game the entire time and finally got to it. Tried once and lost and immediately rage quit. She picked up the controller and did it her first time even though she’s never played the game. Marriage material.

    Spyro Cookie Jar?

Hey guys, has anyone ever seen a Spyro cookie jar, be it fan made or official? Would anyone here be willing to talk about commissions for making a 3D model that could be printed?

Does anyone else still believe in Spyro 4?

Maybe I'm unrealistically optimistic, but I think Spyro 4 is real even if we don't get any announcement in the Year of the Dragon. Based on all the information that has been shared with me, I have reason to believe that a 2024 release was what Toys for Bob originally wanted, but they could not get the game approved by Activision. Hence the reason for working on a Crash and Spyro crossover game, separating from Activision to become independent, and entering into a collaboration with Microsoft (the new Spyro IP owner) while continuing to tease the game. I just think it seems less plausible that TFB would collaborate with Microsoft to work on a new IP since they primarily work on existing IPs and seem to care more about reviving classic 3D platformer IPs, which are owned by MS. I don't think they just coincidentally partnered with the owner of those IPs to make something completely original. Another Banjo-Kazooie or Crash game seems less likely because their teases are only suggestive of Spyro.

Does anyone else have any faith?

Which Spyro 2 Level would fit right in Spyro 1 and why? (No Speedways or Boss Fights)

If each level from Spyro 2 like Glimmer, Idol Springs, Colossus, Hurricos, Sunny Beach, Aquaria Towers, Skelos Badlands, Crystal Glacier, Breeze Harbor, Zephyr, Scorch, Fracture Hills, Magma Cone, Shady Oasis,, Mystic Marsh, Cloud Temples, Robotica Farms, and Metropolis were in Spyro 1 which homeworld would they each be in

I finished the original Spyro trilogy for the first time and reviewed the series as a whole

Don’t be fooled by the thumbnail, I don’t think Year of the Dragon is the worst Spyro! I enjoyed it for the most part

My Spyro Level Ideas (In the vein of The OG Trilogy). Your thoughts?

I’ve had a few ideas all in the style of the OG Insomniac trilogy but since the graphics would be more like Reignited if Spyro 4 does happen, I'm picturing it as such but just like OT (particularly 2 & 3 levels) but larger levels and better graphics. So let me know your thoughts, comments, questions, suggestions, etc. Do they sound like levels you'd love to see/play in "Spyro 4"?

    1. A Nordic inspired Volacanic Mountain/ Temple themed one with eeriely beautiful, dark and shining volcanic glass rock formations contrasting with white snow all built around a great, massive and mysterious ancient half submerged Temple/Fortress with intriguingly unique architecture and its adjoining structures (that are made to be explored and some mystery uncovered). With the local populace of friendly Lynxes or Sabre tooth tigers (perhaps Viking like aesthetically and at war with a sister realm a la Breeze Harbor and Zephyr) enjoying their many hot springs (which they let Spyro enjoy as well). A nighttime level with a sky with huge full moon, maybe a planet or two, many twinkling stars and the Northern Lights (and plenty of fires for light and heat also to dry off after getting out of one of their ancestral hot springs.

    2. “Monolith/Stone Moorlands/Moor(s) or

Monolith(ic) Meadows". A moor/meadow with some trees surrounding the level though with big Stonehenge like structure at the center where the trees are shorter and much less dense and many outcroppings (and perhaps crop circles for aesthetic and intrigue?) of it and nearby similar stone monoliths and megalithic structures provide areas to glide and explore from. Sun is nearly set with its patch of yellow, orange and red giving way to the main sky with purple clouds, then inky blue darkness shimmering with stars (occasionally a shooting star is seen streaking across the sky) and a moon (or 2).

    1. An American (US/CAN) Pacfic Northwest inspired one. Heavy Forest with tall trees form most the borders and extend into the distance as well as tall, mist shrouded mountains, Totem poles and other native tribal art/culture incorporated (a la Idol Springs = Hawaii and Colossus = Himalayas/Tibet) but its own distinct place and culture. Also it’s lightly raining naturally with some heavier storms in the distance with lightning strikes seen there lighting up the far off clouds and the area below for a bit (a subtle but visually interesting little touch). Laidback Eagles inhabit this realm. Some of the level is through a winding, architecturally advanced complex, yet one that blends in, built throughout the tall trees high off the ground (as Eagles would do) but also on the ground with strange/intriguing structures to climb and navigate.

    2. Space Ship/Station level. My most self conflicted level and I’m not sure it could be pulled off right. It'll definitely reference and send up Space set movies/games/tv shows. like Star Wars, Halo, etc. Set in a massive spaceship (like Vader’s Executor in Star Wars) or a simply a gargantuan space station (like a more peaceful Death Star or Deep Space 9) orbiting a planet with many moons. Although floor to ceiling windows provide great views of the main planet planet, it's moons, some nearby planets, stars and space, it is an “indoor level”. I’m interested to hear if anyone finds this to be of any curiosity and what’d they would do with it.

If anyone has any suggestions/comments/etc on this (#4) or any of the others, I’d love to hear them.

Is Sparx (OG series, 1998-2004) an adult, or child?

Sparx could be a child, given how Spyro enjoys his company. Kids, both in real life and ESPECIALLY in fiction, see most, if not all adults (including their own parents in some cases) as boring kill joys. For instance, Horrid Henry; if you've read any of the books or watched the show, you'll find that the title kid sees practically every adult, including his own parents, as irritants. He straight up often says "You're the meanest, most horrible parents in the world, and I HATE you!!"

Furthermore, in the first Alvin And The Chipmunks live action/CGI hybrid movie, Alvin straight up calls Dave a "kill joy" after he stops him playing with a towel rack like it's a hula hoop.

Finally, in the first Lion King film, Simba as a cub mocks Zazu (an adult), condecends him, pounces on him, and flings him around like a toy nearly everytime they're on screen together. Not to mention he gets visibly annoyed that Zazu has to go with him and Nala to the Elephant Graveyard ("Awww, not Zazu!😒")

If Sparx were an adult, Spyro would, more than likely, be disgruntled by his company, as evidenced by a few scenes, like the ones in the first game and Hero's Tale, where the elders try to tell him stories and he hurriedly rejects that or makes an excuse to leave.

My point here is, you don’t have to be an adult in order to be protective of something or someone. Tails from Sonic The Hedgehog for example, has protected Sonic himself from time to time (especially in the IDW comics) and he's only 8, while Sonic is 15!

Conversely, maybe it's just me, but the manuel in Ripto's Rage seems to imply Sparx is an adult, saying keeping Spyro out of trouble is his "job". He could either mean this in a literal sense, or maybe it could've been some kind of 90's vernacular/figure of speech, considering Ripto's Rage came out in 1999.

In the manuel of the Japanese version of game 1, there's a backstory showing that Spyro and Sparx were born at the same time. Arguably, you could say this Isn’t canon, since it's from a foreign port of a game that was made in America, but a few things; the Japanese manual for Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back states that Tawna left Crash for Pinstripe, and many people consider that to be canon.

Furthermore, Crash Twinsanity wasn't made by the original team (Naughty Dog), yet many people see it as a continuation of the original Crash PS1 trilogy. To carry this out further, certain Sonic The Hedgehog media has been said to be canon, such as the IDW comics (some of which take place before and after the Sonic Forces game) and Frontiers, all of which also make references to past games.

Also-also, The Lion Guard show wasn't written by the original writers from either of the first two Lion King films, yet it still acts as a continuation of the official Lion King canon.

My point here is, just because something was written and published by people who didn't work on previous entries doesn't automatically make it non-canon.

It's possible that Insomniac Games didn't really put a great deal of thought into the lore/world building of the Spyro universe while making the first game; while the Spyro may be a successful now, at the time of the making of the first game, there was no garrentee whether it would be successful enough to warrent a sequel or flop commercially or critically and end up being a one-off game. Also, lore/world building isn't the top priority when it comes to making video games, but rather, gameplay. In an interview Youtuber Miharu The Fox did with Oliver Wade, one of the original Spyro artists, Wade said that they never put much thought into the non-gameplay elements of the Spyro games, thus leaving it up to interpretation.

On a website, it was said that Sparx, while still a larvae, crawled around Spyro's egg, and they would communicate with each other through Spyro's shell (they must've both been cognizant at this point) Sparx would tell Spyro what the outside world looked like, but because Spyro was still in his egg, surrounded by darkness, he couldn't relate. Spyro and Sparx's friendship stemmed from a time Spyro saved him from being eaten by a bird. According to some dragonfly research I did, dragonfies get their wings as children, but must wait for an hour or two for the wings to harden, then they can be used. It's likely Sparx was in trouble with said bird either before or when he'd just got his wings.

From what I've deduced, Sparx could be either be a smidge older than Spyro; not as young as Spyro, but not as old as Aku Aku, or both he and Spyro could've been in their infancy stages during the period where Sparx crawled around Spyro's egg and they'd communicate with each other through Spyro's shell.

Which backstories is canon? Did Insomniac Games say which is canon?

I won't go into much detail about these backstories, assuming at least some of you are familiar with them.

In the OG Spyro universe, there's two backstories of how Spyro and Sparx met. One is via a website called Dragon News Network, and the other is from the manuel of the Japanese version of the first game.

In the former, Sparx would crawl around Spyro's egg as a larvae, and one day, Spyro saved him from being eaten by a bird.

In the latter, theives stole the eggs Spyro and Sparx were in. After the theives dropped the eggs, they both hatched, out came Spyro and Sparx, and the two became friends.

Spyro the Dragon Relaxing Music VHS Tape

Thought it would be fun to compile some of my favorite calming tracks from the very first Spyro game! This one also happens to be my favorite entry in the whole series, but I do still love the other two PS1 titles.

Anyone know where I can find a 3D model of the original PS1 professor?

I'm new to 3D printing, and I wanted to start out with some simple PS1 Spyro desk decorations for myself. The internet has a lot of resources of models ripped from the original games, but I am having trouble finding the professor in particular. Does anyone know where I could find him?

Is it wrong that i like the legend of spyro games?

The legend of spyro games where the first I ever played, I was still very young and played it at my cousins when we visited for holidays. Later, I got my hands on the second and third games of what are now being redone as the reignited and also enjoyed them immensely. I loved both styles, stories and how they looked and the lore. But, today, doing some research on the games I haven't played in absolute years, I see people hating the legend games and now I'm wondering if I'm in the wrong for liking it?

    Hopes for Spyro 4?

Hey, guys! I recently found an article confirming that Spyro 4 was in development, not just as a rumor, but as actual confirmation. What do you think will happen with this game? Do you think it will actually be developed, and if so, what do you hope it will contain?

    I completed Spyro 2.

Wasn't too bad I guess. The game still got on my nerves like it did before. But I knew how to get through this time and wasn't bombarded with firepower, Zephyr.

The speedway levels were definitely a challenge. I truly wanted to break something. But I wanted to keep going even more. And this is how I realized the friendship between Hunter and Spyro was built through those challenges together. Cause now it definitely feels more believable. Well done, devs.

But Zephyr fucking glitched out on me. I found the last two cowleks before I was supposed to. One of them collided with one of the birds. The bird died, and the cowlek got yeeted into nothingness.

And I had gotten rid of all the enemies so I could do this freely. sigh...

So I restarted the level, said fuck you to the birds, got the cowleks in the pen, properly this time, and now I'm never going back to Zephyr, fuck Zephyr.

    Dragon Shores was fun.

Last Gem in Enter The Dragonfly

Honey Marsh has 1 gem left and I've scoured the entire level dozens of times, including the challenge areas. Is there a notoriously illusive hidden gem that anyone else's spent an unreasonable amount of time searching for? Or is this an irreparable bug and i'll forever be stuck on 99% :/
