Intel Arc a 750 Sparkle Fans Ramps Up and Stops In Seconds!

I bought an “Intel Arc a 750 Sparkle ORC” graphics card, since the day I bought it, the fans have been speeding up and down constantly within seconds. Not only at load but also at idle. It's an incredibly disturbing sound.

I've tried everything, configuring the fan curve from the arc interface, setted fans at constant speed, msi afterburner, but nothing fixes.

I searched for a while and saw that there were a lot of people with the same problem and they couldn't find a solution, so I gave up.

I don't know it's a hardware or driver issue but I saw that Sparkle and Intel hasn't found a solution for MONTHS! :/

Sparkle Arc A310

I’ve been looking at buying the Sparkle Arc A310 but I’ve heard that it has a really bad fan noise issue and that the low profile bracket is a nightmare to swap in, are these issues resolved or should I look elsewhere?

My review of the SPARKLE Thunderbolt™ eGPU Studio-G 750, TBX-750FA-V2

I haven't seen literally anyone review this eGPU enclosure, so I went to Microcenter and purchased one because I was looking for something big enough to support 3-slot cards to experiment with my MSI Claw.

I was a bit shocked when I went to Microcenter to buy it that it wasn't on display anywhere and no one even knew where they were, but they had them in stock. About 2 reps later and some digging by them in the back and they brought out this rather large ITX-Case sized box.

Product Link: https://www.sparkle.com.tw/en/products/view/94c32cc42a02

  • Initial Unboxing Impressions :
    • This thing is big, but given it has support for 3-slot and even 4-slot cards (yes - you can fit a 4090 in it) I was expecting it to be large. Packaging is very basic, you get the eGPU, a power cable, a Thunderbolt 3 Cable, and a very basic manual pamphlet detailing how to install a GPU and the port specifications. The enclosure itself feels very solid and well constructed, really like the gull wing design which makes it very easy to install large GPU.
      • Initial Gripe - The PCIE slot retention method is your standard push down to release which is extremely difficult to push if you use a large card such as an RTX 3090Ti or RTX 4090 - there's just not enough space between the bottom of the GPU and the lip of the opening and I had to use a flathead screwdriver to carefully release a card. I ultimately ended up just ripping that retention mechanism off because it serves little purpose with the card mounted vertically.
  • Port Selection and Specifications:
    • 750W PSU with 1x SATA, 1x Molex, 3x PCIE 6+2 pin connectors - enough to power an RTX 4090 (you only need 3 of the 4 pigtails on a 4090)
    • 85W PD to your laptop / device
    • 2x USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gb/s)
    • Gigabit Ethernet
    • 1x Internal SATA III (more on this later)
    • 2x Internal PWM Fan Ports (You can add a 140 or 120mm fan to the front of the enclosure, albeit you will lose some GPU clearance doing so)
    • 2x Intermal USB 3.0 headers (possible able to add more ports?!)
    • 346mm x 170mm x 77mm maximum GPU size
  • GPU Installation:
    • For my initial installation, I put an RTX 4090 FE card in the enclosure - I had no difficulty fitting the card and the 12VPWHR adapter worked with 3 of the 4 connections without issue. Card was recognized upon being plugged in to the Thunderbolt 4 port on my MSI Claw and installation went smoothly - both USB 3.1 ports were utilized with one going to a 4 port hub on my monitor - all devices were properly recognized and I experienced no issues with all ports and the Gigabit ethernet connected (anyone who used the initial Razer X Core enclosures know that was sometimes hit or miss)
      • Remember that SATAIII port I mentioned? Turns out this enclosure can support a SATA III drive despite it being nowhere in the manual. Hooked up a 480GB SSD I had laying around and it was recognized as an external disk
      • I also installed a 120mm fan in the front of the enclosure using the available mounting points and connected to the onboard PWM header - reduces GPU clearance by whatever thickness of fan you use so avoid this if you intend to use a 4090 as it may not fit depending on the model.
  • Performance:
    • Average TimeSpy performance was 19500-20000 points for the GPU, basically limited by the Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth which is to be expected with an eGPU. Ideally, you would want to use a more mid-range card like a 4060Ti or 4070 so you aren't completely bottlenecked.
      • Space Marine 2 at 1440p Ultra Settings with DLSS set to Quality got about 40-50FPS - definitely bottlenecked between the TB3 bandwidth and the Core Ultra 155H in the MSI Claw.
      • God of War at 1440p Ultra gets about 70-80 FPS
      • Elden Ring at 1440p Ultra gets about 35-55 FPS on Ultra with Ray Tracing to Maximum (because hey why not)
  • Conclusion
    • If you just look at the spec sheet for the Sparkle eGPU Studio-G, it's comparable to other options in the $349.99 price point such as the Sonnet eGPU Breakaway Box or the OWC Akitio Node Titan - but when you factor in the capability to fit a 4090 FE AND a SATA drive, it's a lot more compelling value. It's confusing why they are omitting such an important feature that sets it apart from the competition - even if it may occupy some of the bandwidth available, I think the majority of users shopping for an enclosure would factor that in to their decision if it were present in their product information page. It's my opinion that this is an excellent entry into the eGPU space if you're looking for something that can fit those bigger cards and act as a docking station for your gaming handheld or Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 compatible laptop.

Why not Sparkle?

Recently, my A770 Titan has been experiencing instability and crashing when running heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077. It was extremely frustrating. I contacted their technical support and was surprised to receive a reply within an hour. One of their FAE provided steps to troubleshoot the issue, and we exchanged some details about my PC setup and gaming setting.Eventually, he helped me determine that the problem was caused by a broken power cable. Additionally, there was an issue with heat not being properly extracted from the chassis, causing my CPU and GPU to reach 80°C easily. the guy also assisted me with this issue, which was surprising,it turned out I had installed the fan in the wrong orientation. After troubleshooting for a few days, I am very satisfied with both the card and their service.

Constant Crashing on Titan OC A770

Hello,

I've been dealing with Intel support for nearly a month now. Since I've had this card (January 2024), I've had countless BSODs saying DRIVER_DMA_VERIFIER and VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE occurring almost daily, and randomly in Windows, games, etc. I am at a loss, I just did a complete overhaul of the system today (Wiped M.2s, reinstalled Windows 11 Pro, all drivers, etc.) and I've already had 2 BSODs.

fan on a310eco on win 10 still at 100%, win10

so they just released a card that is absolutely unusable? latest driver, win10, resizable bar. Already wrote support.

I meanthis is just absolutely inacceptable. I can't remove the bracket without removing the warranty sticker????? Did anybody test the card, like once? Like seriously? Did somebody try to use this thing? Plugged it in? the whole deal, you know, before shipping it out to customers?

Sparkle A310 ECO fan revving upd and down issue

I recently got my hands on a Sparkle A310 Eco and I like how small the card is. However, the fan is incredibly annoying, constantly revving up and down. I am running linux and have the latest firmware on the card but the issue is still there. Anyone know when a fix is coming?

Intel ARC A310 ECO only runs at PCIe gen 1.0 speed with 1x link

The spec sheet for the A310 ECO says it should run at PCIe gen 4.0, 8x links: https://www.sparkle.com.tw/files/20240202113531413.pdf

I've tested mine on both Windows 11 and Linux 6.8 and in both cases, its PCIe connection is crippled to be only gen1 speeds (2.5GT/s) and 1x lane. Verified with HWiNFO64 on Windowsand lspci on Linux:

Intel Arc A310 ECO - Revving fan issue

I don't have video signal.

Hi, I just got all my componentsmy delivered today and I just finished building the computer today. These are my components: Aorus B650 Elite AX Rev 1.2 Ryzen 5 7600X Intel Arc A770 Titan OC Edition 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM @ 5600MHz

The problem is that everything is working fine when I use the intergrated graphics, but when I use the GPU I don't get signal. It doesn't say no signal either it just stays black. I updated windows, the BIOS and I used the integrated graphics to install the newest drivers for the GPU (I just turned off the PC and took the HDMI cable from the GPU and put it on the motherboard than turned it back on. It switched automatically to the integrated graphics but with the GPU still connected, thats how the intel driver program could read the GPU and install the driver.) but the TV still remains black.

I only have a couple of options left, either the HDMI cable is not working properly (which is wierd because I play my ps4 with it) or I should use a proper monitor with better resolution and not a TV.

Another thing is that the VGA LED on the motherboard is always lit.

Can someone please help me, I would appreciate it a lot.

Thanks.

A580 Unstable

I purchased the Sparkle Arc A580 for my ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero motherboard. I have the I7 4790K processor and 32 GB of memory.

When I install the card, on boot up, the screen flickers and looks scrambled and usually locks up entirely. If I get into the bios, it no longer flickers, but still runs slow and occasionally freezes up. I updated the BIOS to the latest available version but still have the same problem. Even after the bios update, there is no option for resizable bar settings that I can find. When it does make it all the way into windows, and I have the newest drivers installed, it no longer flickers, and looks like it is working, but everything is very slow to respond and eventually it hangs up the entire system. The system works fine on the integrated graphics, and with an NVIDIA graphics card installed.

Is there anything I can do to make it work on my system, or do I need to return it for something else?

Thank You,

Jeff

Two of the display ports on my Sparkle A770 seem to not work?

Got a Sparkle A770, currently running intel driver 31.0.101.4953, and really having no issues with anything, and can play starfield and cp2077 well.

But, when I do some cable management and move cables from the 1st DP and HDMI ports to the 2nd and 3rd DP ports, nothing. Same cables, same DP->HDMI adapter that works on DP1.

Any thoughts /u/Sparkle_Computer?
