Eric Martin

If anyone is interested Eric’s trial is on Colin Definitely Not Cromwell’s YouTube page.

It’s the delicious train wreck that we all knew would happen.

Insured by Smith & Wesson? How does that help in an accident?

Stopped behind this citizen, no license plate - and a sticker about not having insurance. Classic car tho

Apologies for the bad photo but I finally spotted one in the wild yesterday.

Was visiting my mom in Connecticut and definitely startled her because I started hysterically laughing at the car in front of us. I then had to do a deep dive on sovereign citizens for my mom and she was flabbergasted.

Credit Score?

Anybody have an idea what the average credit score of the SovCit "population" might be? Seems they would be denied loans and have significantly increased insurance costs (if they even use such services).

FREE MOTORCYCLES FOR SOVEREIGN CITIZENS! COME ON DOWN, TELL 'EM "PICKLES" SENT YOU. INDORSE AND RIDE, MF'ERS!

FREE MOTORCYCLES FOR SOVEREIGN CITIZENS! COME ON DOWN!

"...another dealership lead for you guys. This one is mainly for Harleys. His name is Jeremiah with Texas Toy Sales out of Fort Worth Texas. Phone number 817 557 ---- . The guy who set this up says: "when we call so they know who we are say code pickle or pickle special lol"This is a small place and i don't know to what extent they understand negotiability, but they are definitely willing to play ball." --BJW FB. *

When they say "play ball", you don't suppose they mean Jeremiah might be up to something shady....? Nahhh....They prolly just mean that if you sign (aka indorse)with "pay to the order of yourself" on the loan application and purchase agreement (aka "negotiable instrument"), the loan is automatically fully paid off, from your secret Strawman account (or something?). The exact details are a little fuzzy right now....but the shop gets paid by the lender, you get the bike. Remember, it's not a lie if YOU believe it...llet the lender worry about it. Just get that chopper off the lot...that scruffy salesman is eager to send you off and ring the bell ...You may not get the title but possession is 9/10 of the law, you can send "cease and desist" letters if the finance company is ignorant about Indorsements, and (as you prolly know) REPO MAN can't come inside your locked garage.

Another BJW FB post:

"Sun Tzu says "all warfare is based on deception." By using the deception of chaos, what is truly legal or not, let's say for example with a car title, becomes irrlevant because no prosecuter wants to do the tremendous amount of work needed to sort out the mess of a title history."

So please don't call the manager of Texas Toy Sales in Ft. Worth. Just hurry on down...they only have a few at this price, the authorities may be watching, and yer boy Jeremiah...well..."all good things..."

Don't be left in peonage to the evil banks.

Serious Question

I have seen more than a few courtroom Sovereign Citizen pre-trials tonight an while at first I was like much of everyone else and laughed and shook my head and wondered "how and the hell did they think this was going to work". After the last one I saw, it is clear these people are reading from a script put together by people either deluded into thinking this stuff works, or purposefully misleading people saying "hey, follow this script and it will get you out of paying fine and getting out of the crime you are charged with" which is dangerous. I see this on praying on people who clearly have mental challenges.

My question is, has their been any effort to remove these sovereign citizen scripts out of the public domain? I mean it seems this is a clear and present danger to these people.

Questions regarding SSNs.

My sister has friends whom she says were convinced years ago to "give up" their SSNs, presumably by a SC.

Is that even a thing you can do? A quick Google search says that your SSN is permanently on file, even after you're dead.

I heard something a long time ago about sovereign citizens squatting, claiming ownership over someone else's house and kicking the owners out.

What has me worried is that my sister has one of these friends coming to visit in November, ostensibly only staying a single night, and I'm wondering what I need to watch out for.

I just discovered Sovereign Citizens from watching Police Body Cams on youtube. What started this nonsense?

Hi, been watching police body cam videos on youtube and have seen a few of these Sovereign Citizens. I've never heard of this! Who are these people? What is their problem?

They seem like they just want to purposefully be contradictory and not follow laws! They are making their own problems!

I'm 56 years old. I've been pulled over a few times by police. I am always polite. My car registration is always up to date. My car insurance is always up to date. My Driver's License has never been taken away from me, etc. Most of the time, I just get a friendly warning.

Don't these people realize that by acting like an entitled jerk from the beginning of a traffic stop is not going to end well for them? Are they must mentally ill? What is going on with these people?

What are television shows that have an episode on sovereign citizens?

Just watching The Rookie, season 4 episode 8, and it deals with a radicalized sovcit. Episode goes lightly into who they are why they end up like that.

Thought it might be fun to have a post detailing other tv shows that had a sovcit episode.

Admiralty

I always get a kick when Sovereign citizens say "Admiralty." They do not realize that it is maritime law, not on land. Please know that half of the people you are around have below-average IQs. The bell curve is real.

Why appear?

If Sovereign Citizens don’t recognize the court’s jurisdiction, why do they appear in court? I understand when they are already in custody, but some are not in custody and they come to a court they believe has no jurisdiction.

Another Sovcit gets capped.

A sovereign citizen possibly a moor, who seemingly has a resistance to electrical shock, gets turned into Swiss cheese when he charges at sheriff's deputies.

All this over a warrant for trespassing.

Is a "sovereign citizen" all-caps-name trademark a legal person?

Al Capp* (Alfred Gerald Caplin, 1909-1979) who drew L'il Abner.

(*image caption: Al Capp was his real pen name... not all-caps, not a sovereign citizen)

"Sovereign citizens" aka "Sov Cits" or "sovvies", pretty much all believe in the "Strawman," a hidden government account (money) in the their all-caps name, which can theoretically be accessed by the sovvie using certain magical incantations, paperwork and, most importantly, not stepping on a crack in the sidewalk. It has never worked, but then Bigfoot has never been found either, and 11% of Americans still believe THAT is a real thing. Anyway, this secret account was initiated at birth, they say, using the all-caps name on their birth certificate. Sov cits also refer to the all-caps name as the public identity, and the "not-all-caps" name as the private name or identity.

Much of their activity is centered around supposedly severing all relationships ("contracts") (including citizenship) between the private (not-all-caps) name and what they call the "United States Corporation." ** The usual goal (called "status correction") is becoming either 1) something called an American State National (like a resident of the Marianas Islands) or 2)a non-resident alien, naturalized to some imaginary kingdom, of which they are now an ambassador with immunity from arrest and paying taxes. Numerous high-school-dropout Youtube gurus will sell you instructions, templates, videos, license plates, and instructions, which if followed will allow you to proudly get arrested and have your vehicle towed. And in the end you will still be a Joe Blow citizen of the US, somewhat poorer, and the butt of your brother-in-laws jokes at Thanksgiving. Because none to this works, or even makes sense, and some of it is illegal.

In the past, some sovvies have copyrighted their names, in an apparent attempt to prevent law enforcement from writing their name on a ticket/complaint. Notwithstanding the fact that copyrighting a name is generally not legitimate.

Now, it seems Guru Williams is adding a new wrinkle to the "name game," trademarking his all-caps name, and attempting to make it a legal person in his lawsuits and court filings, and this is being imitated by his followers. It must be understood that Williams is constantly trying to find terms, language and definitions that will allow him to represent legal competency and get away with what could be construed as practicing law without a license. He has at times obtained a power of attorney and referred to himself as attorney-in-fact. But he can't legally represent a person in a court proceeding. In this new name-game, he has legally changed his name from all-caps to not-all-caps, and TRADEMARKED the all-caps name, which he now calls his "ens legis". Then he brings a suit with the trademark as plaintiff, and himself "presenting" the trademark. See BRANDON JOE WILLIAMS® v. AMEX:

"...Comes now, person BRANDON JOE WILLIAMS®, presented by man Brandon Joe Williams, files this complaint..."

He goes on to almost admit that he is representing the trademark, but uses "procedure" instead of "practice", possibly to avoid prosecution for practicing without a license:

"Brandon Joe Williams is very excited about the procedure of law..."

Pretty much the same thing was done by Preston Knapp in the suit against Wings Credit Union. Here is a plaintiff statement from that latter case (emphasis added):

"At the heading of this document, the plaintiff is PRESTON BYRON KNAPP, not Preston Byron Knapp. It’s important to always make sure that the aspects of the parties are crystal clear. There was a trade name, which is a person by definition, made for Preston Byron Knapp and he is quite happy with that system. He wants to use that system to its fullest potential and is quite thankful to have access to such a wonderful system." https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mnd.213253/gov.uscourts.mnd.213253.33.0.pdf

"By definition?" Really? The trademark may not even be enforceable. From the internet:

“Are trademarks case sensitive? – no, they are not if you file in a standardized format. The case of the letters in a trademark is not a determining factor in assessing the likelihood of confusion. But again, as previously mentioned, the overall distinctiveness and appearance of the mark, including stylization and font, can play a role in its protection. It is best practice to file a standardized format and stylized if you use a distinctive appearance or logo." https://jhrlegal.com/are-trademarks-case-sensitive-understanding-trademark-distinctions-attorney-advertising/

Even assuming the trademark is enforceable...can a trademark be a legal person? It seems he is trying to make it seem so. Corporations and some other businesses and organizations can have that status. He sometimes calls it his "franchise," a reference to California's Franchise Tax on businesses. In the AMEX case he writes that the plaintiff is a "resident of Los Angeles County," seems to say he has gotten Power of Attorney from the trademark (?) and even claims to have naturalized the trademark! https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/oinoldmnrolo2vtcdk2vf/BRANDON-JOE-WILLIAMS-v-AMERICAN-EXPRESS-COMPANY.pdf?rlkey=kywfi21adt6yiwwqvuwyty8k3&e=2&dl=0

But if a trademark isn't a legal person, then obviously the "plaintiff" doesn't have standing to bring a case. If a trademark IS a legal person, the man isn't licensed to represent it before the court.

So either way, I don't think this name-trademark-attornoid ploy will fly, if the courts ever notice it.

**In reality, the sovvies often merely attempt to deny, hide from and subvert the laws and obligations they don't like, while taking advantage of the U.S. rights and privileges they do like.
