I have just become the new mod of this sub. Looking for any feedback as to improvements. Please post! :)
Hi all. I feel I am not doing this sub justice by regularly posting and I would like to hand control over to more active members. It would be nice to have a community for Southwest Preppers that is active. If you'd like to take control of this sub please let me know.
What preps have you made to deal with excessive heat that we experience in the region?
For example: I keep twice as much water as I think I'll need. Blackout curtains, and aluminum foil for bugging in as well. A couple cold packs as well.
I'm interested in seeing if anyone who has traveled, camped, or hiked through hot areas (be they deserts or otherwise) has any tips for bug out plans as well.
With the recent earthquakes hitting Mexico and another one in Japan is anyone doing anything to up date their preps?
Does anyone store charcoal for cooking? I've stored propane, but wondering if anyone stores charcoal and if so how?
Does anyone have a preference on which Sawyer filter they like or dislike. Looking to get another one for my BOB.
Let's talk about wild fires. If you live in an area prone to them you should have a plan. During the Cedar fire thousands were evacuated, roads closed, and if you were in San Diego you were trapped. Only way out was by boat. We've seen a lot of rain this winter and normally that means a heightened wild fire season. Any thoughts or plans?
I've created this group to help prepper's in the Southwest pass information along. Living in a desert with the potential for earthquakes and wild fires has given me a lot of reason to start prepping. If you have any ideas, deals, or thoughts bring them here.
Thanks
