A safe space for any and all anti-capitalists who want to discuss games in an environment free of toxic, right wing attitudes. We discuss games from a far-left perspective while waiting for the inevitable fall of capitalism.
Welcome to r/socialistgaming
This is a hub for any and all socialists looking for a safe space to discuss gaming with similar minded people.
rules:
This community is diverse and inclusionary and it's meant to be welcoming to all anti-capitalist gamers. We try to keep it as broad as possible and avoid sectarianism.
That said; Terfs, brocialists and class reductionists are not welcome. This is a feminist, queer friendly, anticapitalist community.
Liberals that want to stick around know that this is not a place for us to debate our core beliefs but to chill and discuss gaming from our perspective. Comments that make excuses for capitalism, western imperialism, the police etc will be removed.
Marxist Leninists of all kinds are welcome. That said, keep in mind that since this is a broad "anticapitalist" space, you are likely speaking to people who don't share your specific worldview and analysis regarding existing states and past attempt at socialism. Debates may inevitably happen, so be nice and respectful to your comrades and try to understand their point of view and focus on your common goal of dismantling capitalism. If you don't feel like respectfully co existing with anarchists or different types of marxists in a gaming space on reddit, then likely this place won't be up your alley.
This works the other way around, if all marxists are "tankies" to you and therefore your enemies, this place likely won't be for you as this first and foremost an anticapitalist sub.
Oppressive language of any kind ( racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, islamophobia, antisemitism, classism etc ) will not be tolerated.
While we welcome political discussion stemming from gaming and pop culture in general, this place is meant to be a general gaming sub for leftists. So unless it's something that's meant for this community in particular or something urgent (an uprising happening somewhere or someone in need of support), refrain from posting general politics threads. Specifically, articles/ video essays etc that don't relate to gaming or geek culture in general will be removed to keep the place coherent.
Self promotion is welcome as long as it's on topic, we're all cool with finding comrade streamers, youtubers, discord servers etc but we recommend that you don't overdo it.

Looking for people around my age (mid 20’s) to stack with. I’m still pretty new (hardstuck copper) but my k/d is positive (1.2). I’ve tried the lfg discord but the vibes are terrible lmao
Sorry if this is a post every other day, but as an older lefty gamer who hasn't really delved into youtube much for content I'm looking for some good channels that can give me full franchise history, long plays etc.
I've been watching a bit of civvie 11 for boomer shooter content after seeing them mentioned here and i'm enjoying that. for context, the last stuff i remember watching was AVGN as it aired and Zero Punctuation, which i stopped watching after some of their long plays with gabe, who gave some chud like opinions. I currently listen to Watch out for fireballs and axe of the bloodgod for podcasts, but since i'm now not commuting I can have visuals while I listen
no specific genres of games really, cheers in advance!
Anthem was the death sentence, both due to EA making a single-player rpg studio work on a live-service game in general, and due to their extreme crunch culture leading to developers leaving the studio overnight without even notifying anybody
veilguard drama was not the issue, and veilguard would be the final nail in the coffin either way as the game is completely uninteresting and bland by itself (because most talent has left the studio years ago)
The Bioware that Made KOTOR, the Orginial Baldur's Gate Games, and the first 3 Dragon Age Games if gone and has been gone for a while
Hello everyone! We have a discord for socialist gamers where we can play, organize, learn, and shoot the breeze. It is specifically geared towards gaming but we also talk theory and action. All rules and channels are still in progress. Still working on it but I thought that people might enjoy being a part of building and organizing something. Here is there Link: https://discord.gg/38UAA6PM Thanks for reading this and hope you all like it! P.S. I don't think putting this here breaks any rules but let me know if it does.
Hello! We aren't looking to compete with any other groups but just want to be an option if you ever need a place to hang out. First off, we are 100% LGBTQ+ friendly and don't stand for anything against that. Nevertheless, eure we talk gaming but we also have contests, talk movies, shows, and our book club (We have a free copy of The Shining for download in that channel for Feb.) We know it's a rough time at this moment to be alone, so we are here to remind you that you don't have to be. If we could get your support and have you join our family, this is our link and it won't expire. https://discord.gg/859jdtXUXH Thank you for your time. :) And I hope this wasn't too much.
Managed to win with a cool grid map of the US.
So, being short, I just saw Land and Freedom (what an incredible movie) and I’m eager to know if there is any videogame that captures the feeling of that deeply political interpretation of the Spanish Civil War. I know there are some other games set in that time but the ones I know are mostly strategy games.
Also if you leave recommendations of games set in the Spanish Civil War I will at least check them, even if they don’t fit in what I am looking for.
Thanks in beforehand!!
