Figured id share my scariest sleep paralysis dream i ever had. I was sick with a fever when it happened

So i had this dream once back in the day. I used to get sleep paralysis sometimes when attempting to fall asleep, but when i got it id usually get it over and over the same night like every time i tried to relax id become paralyzed and i couldn’t lift my head for like 15 seconds. This would happen like 10-20 times some nights then when i did finally fall asleep id sometimes become paralyzed mid dream while still sleeping. Anyways i had a dream one of these nights when i also had a fever. So I was in a hospital bed paralyzed and i looked over at all the other hospital beds and their was like 10. They were all empty except one. And there was this other guy and he was paralyzed from the head down. He was directly diagonal from me. He had a big smile on his face and he had very odd eyes that were wide open. He started slowly moving his head back and forth. The head movement just got faster and faster until it was unrealistically fast. Eventually i woke up, and i just stayed awake for a good 4 hours. It scared me bad man at the time for some reason.

Scared to sleep due to random SP

Hi I get SP sometimes. I'm scared to sleep sometimes due to weird dreams and having SP and not escaping or always dreading sleep or it getting worst Any tips or things that reduce it? Any deficiency that cause it? I've heard anemia or b6 effects this? I also have vivid dreams alot and last night I had a super realistic dream and I felt a rbbbt bitting my leg and it actually felt real and weird. Cheers

Escaping a sleep paralysis and eliminating sleep-panic

As a lifer, (over 35 years of 2-4 nights a week consistent SPs) I’ve only in the last ten years been able to eliminate anxiety or panic I experience during most of these experiences. Also I have over this time developed a method to wake myself from them calmly at will and a backup method in the rare event that fails. This began following my thinking of first asking myself what I can control during the state. The main things are my eyelids and breathing muscles. Since doing anything with my eyelids is next to useless and even sometimes promotes panic, I focussed instead on my breathing with the thinking that if I could deliberately hyperventilate it would cause more oxygen to the brain and help wake me up. And in practice for me anyway, it does, it almost always does.

As an added bonus my wife often hears me breathing faster and faster and she knows to help wake me the 5% of the time I can’t get out. If that’s not happening or she is asleep I can make noises with my lungs which come out as little groans. She always hears that so I get out that way in those rare cases.

Only in my forties now have I started to experiment with deliberately staying in a sleep paralysis as long as I can stand it and once or twice already this has led to lucid dreams I have full control over. It’s still really scary to get to that point but I’m less afraid to stay in it and desensitize myself to any awful hallucinations now I know I can wake myself up at any time.

These techniques and the confidence I can escape almost any SP have taken a LOT of the anxiety out of these awful things. What techniques if any do you guys have that have helped you? There’s nothing I’ve really been able to do about those nights where I just get SP after SP and keep having to wake myself from them but I’d love to find some preventative measures for that situation. Right now I just stay up that night because it’s more exhausting to soldier through it.

I had my first sleep paralysis experience

So sleep paralysis has been my worst fear for some years now. My mom gets them too and I've been terrified of getting one ever since I learned about it. Yesterday night I was watching "The Manhattan Alien Abduction" on Netflix and I was just a little scared of being abducted in my sleep lol. Then at like 5am this morning I wake up laying on my side and unable to move. My first thought was that I was being abducted and I started freaking out. I tried to scream for my dad in the other room so he could stop the abduction but nothing came out. I also felt like a weird pressure in my head. Then I saw this mannequin head fall from the ceiling onto the window sill by my bed. My brain couldn't comprehend what it was really but it looked like an elephant bc it had a trunk. Turns out it was my cat sitting on the window sill and the trunk was her tail. Honestly wasn't as scary as I always thought it was gonna be but I know I'm very lucky that I didn't see anything creepier.

I have a question about movement

I have sleep paralysis a bit, and was wondering if the movement you make in the "dream" is movement you are making out of it as well. Like lets say im in that stance, and someone is on ft with me while im having sleep paralysis, will they be able to see me moving my thumb or pinky when im trying to wake up? can they see me opening and closing my eyes?

Hearing classical music

Anyone ever hear an amazing symphony of classical music? I used to.

The last episode I had, however, was literally just fart noises -___-

Sleep inertia?

yesterday I slept around 2:30 AM tired. but then around 4:30 AM I woke up randomly and my eyes were wandering left and right thought I was dreaming realizing that I was awake. I sat up promptly and my heart started rising like crazy, I knew I was awake but it felt like i was still asleep. I genuinely felt really disoriented, and I was so close on calling 911 because of how I felt.

it felt really weird and I started panicking, I started feeling really cold. good thing I keep water by my bed incase I get thirsty, so I took a sip and I decided to scroll through my phone to somewhat calm me down, but it didn’t help. every time I watched a video I felt like I wasn’t understanding what the video was about and I was just staring at it blankly. and I tried reading some reddit posts and again I felt like I wasn’t retaining any of the information. I was too focused being anxious and wondering why I felt like this and at this point I was already scared to fall back to sleep.

I don’t know what this is. I experienced something like this before but it was due to me being high, I ate an edible and slept and it woke up me feeling really anxious and same thing my eyes were wandering left and right.

I’m not sure if me eating some chocolate being heading to bed is what caused it (since it was Halloween, I wanted some treat while I was watching a movie before falling asleep).

I’m really anxious/worried as to why this happened and if this ever happened to anybody before.

Is this normal?

I had sleep paralysis last night pretty common with me at this point but what bothers me is I was unable to open my eyes but was still able to speak? I remember muttering "stop it"

Edit: most of the time I get partial SP so i can kinda dig my nail into my finger to wake myself up but that has never happened to me

Sleep paralysis from covering eyes?

I've been getting episodes about every other day for the past 2 months. I never really had problems with hallucinations, only had it happen twice. It's mostly annoying and does not cause any problems in my sleep schedule. However, I've noticed that whenever I cover my eyes while I sleep, I'm almost guaranteed to experience sleep paralysis. I cover my eyes with a blanket or a jacket to keep the light off whenever I sleep in my car on between classes or just taking naps in general. Is there some kind of correlation, or just a coincidence?

Getting out of sleep paralysis

I’ve been experiencing sleep paralysis since I was a child, but significantly more so since the passing of one of my close friends a few years ago (not sure if there’s any relation, just a note). I’m in my mid 20s and it’s about twice a week I experience sleep paralysis. I used to be awake and immobile through the whole experience, and personally I have always felt there was a malicious presence just out of sight, and always have woken up panicked and afraid. However, the past year or so I have been able to get my body to sort of “break”from the paralysis state. I’m not sure if it’s adrenaline or concentrating to fully wake myself up, but it usually takes a minute or so but I am slowly getting more consistent with it; willing and forcing my body into motion. When I’m unable to get my body to move I settle into a kind of patient panic until I either fall back asleep or my body decides it wants to move.

I’ve found that my sleep paralysis occurs more often when I’m sleeping with my arms/legs crossed, whether I’m laying on my side, back, or stomach. It feels like trying to get out of a straight jacket made from concrete and honestly it’s really difficult and unsettling. Does anyone else experience this, whether it be the malicious presence or the getting out of paralysis?

Is this sleep paralysis or something else?

So I’ve had this weird thing happen sometimes where I wake up and I can’t move at all. I’ll try to move but I can’t for several seconds and then suddenly I can move. My eyes are closed and I can’t open my eyelids either. I can breathe and use my vocal cords but my lips/tongue won’t move so any attempted vocalizations are just humming noises. No hallucinations of any kind, just waking up with my eyes closed and being frozen for a few seconds. Is this sleep paralysis or something else?

Sleep Paralysis in class

I sometimes don’t get a lot of sleep at night and often drift off in class and put my head down. Since about a year ago I started to experience some type of sleep paralysis where I see a random image of something like my room of some sort, it starts right before I fall asleep and I am well aware but my body is sleeping. I become stuck in place for about 20 seconds only being able to breathe and it’s the scariest thing ever because I fear I won’t be able to move next time it happens. If anyone has any tips besides telling me to get more sleep at night let me know.

Anyone else see numbers and letters?

just woke up and was only able to stare up at my ceiling. luckily nothing scary happened because my brain was fascinated with a specific hallucination of letters and numbers printed in faint black on the ceiling. was barely legible, and unintelligible lines of text kind of like the fancy code in the matrix movie, but instead had a handwritten font and didn’t move. disappeared within 10 seconds and was able to move again. usually during these episodes I see the character Kayako from the movie The Grudge so letters were actually a fun break from that haha. anyone else have a sleep paralysis episode like this?

Paralyzed

Woke up not being able to move (paralyzed) for about 5 secs while seeing a white shirt and black pants beside my bed. I knew something was up and I instantly rushed to wake up.

Before experiencing this I was having a nightmare (?) about having visitors (funny lang kasi yung isa walang ibang sinabi kundi tawagin ko siyang "johannaaaaa" daw 😭😂) that were threatening to do something bad while relatives were inside and around our house. Then during the nightmare, its like I was walking back inside my room where I was sleeping at the moment, lied down and tried to wake up quickly knowing it was just a nightmare. That's where I heard the voices of a guy saying how He k*lled everyone around me THEN the white shirt and black pants showed up in front of me while I was looking at the door beside me WHILE I WAS AWAKE and I was desperately trying to move for a bout 5 seconds before actually waking up.

It's 2am now and idk if I should sleep again 🙂

Can anybody else leave their body and walk around when experiencing sleep paralysis?

When I have sleep paralysis I can often "leave my body" and get up and walk around my house. I can feel the floor under me as I walk, I can feel the water on my hands as I wash them, one time I even went to the fridge and drank chocolate milk and could taste it just as well as real life. Sometimes I can levitate too. It's like lucid dreaming except I'm fully conscious and have a lot more control.

Once I realize I'm in sleep paralysis, I try really hard to wake my partner up so they can "wake me up" and I try to scream their name or shake them awake but my screams only come out as whispers (in my mind, in reality I'm not making a sound). Today I tried to pry my eyes open and even bite my own arm in order to wake myself up. Again, I'm not actually moving, it's all just in my head.

I've never heard anyone else describe their experiences with sleep paralysis like this, so I'm really curious to hear from other people who may have experienced the same thing..

Sleep Paralysis Frequency

I am in my forties and since I was five I have had at minimum 2-4 separate instances a week of SP. I feel like I’ve been through it all. I’m just wondering in general how often people get them as I’ve never known more than a few people in my lifetime who even have it.

Is this considered SP?

Last night I had a dream where I was drugged so I went to lay down on my bed. I then saw my boyfriend at the edge of the bed but it was blurry vision and his movement was blurred going back and forth. I couldn't move, I tried reaching out for him and he was reaching for me. When we finally touched, I let out a scream. I woke up thinking I was already awake when I screamed. Ended up crying but still was not able to move. My fists were clenched to my chest. I was shaking. Would this be SP? Or is this just a nightmare? I struggle with Sleep Apnea so I'm not sure what to think. I've had shadows before but never faces and this is the first time something touched me this energetically. One other time I remember something touching my shoulder, that dream was last year. Any advice would help. Thank you

Sleep paralysis in my dreams

Sometimes I'm not sure if SP happened because I fall asleep and I experience it in my dreams, it feels exactly the same as the ones I've had outside my dreams. Sometimes I just can't tell reality and dreams apart as in I wake up not knowing if I dreamt the last scene or if it did happen. Then I wake up not knowing what is what and just confused. Anyone else?

MY arms bent and hands. I couldn't breath

May not believe me but I promise no lies. I go to sleep, it's just me and my little nephew in the room. I'm having a dream, and we are praying over this girl. She gets up and walk to me.

I start running because she looks scary then she gets on top of me. I try to fight her off so first thing came to mind was pointing my hands straight up to jab her in the private part underneath dress. When I did that, my hands bent like a dog wanting treats. (dog peddling position) Then I couldn't breathe, it's like a mask over my face. I'm screaming for help, and no one hear me. felt like I was going to die. screaming for 4-7 secs saying help help helpp

maybe I deserved to have my arms & hands bent for aiming at that part. lol

I open my eyes shaking heavily. I said I rebuke any negative spirits. I stop shaking and the negative energy went away I was feeling. I started crying because I was scared and played gospel music.

I know I sound insane, but I promise I experience this. please believe me. I experienced not breathing 1 time before that, but this was far worst. I experience more after but just wind crashing over my body and noise nothing intense fr,

i used to think sleepparalysis was a bunch of balony

the concept just sounded way to strange to me, i always viewed it as something people talked about to sound intresting.

last night i think i had it and was quite unnerving. its a bit hard to describe but the things that stood out to me was the extremely loud waterfall like sound. besides the sound i also felt an extreme tingle, a bit like the feeling like when your leg is sleeping but full body.

and ofcourse, not being able to move. it just was so f*cking unnerving. im almost afraid to go asleep again.

just needed this off my chest thankyou for reading.

Is This Actually Sleep Paralysis??

I cannot find any info on my symptoms online.

So, I've had this before, started after I had my daughter 6 months ago. The past week it has been ever single night.

I'm sleeping, and while I'm asleep I start to have active thoughts and I somewhat wake up? I start thinking random thoughts and then I go "wait, am I awake? I was JUST sleeping?!" My eyes are closed the entire time, but I have control to open my eyes and move, though I usually don't because I'm exhausted and want to go back to sleep.

It's like my brain wakes up before my body does like sleep paralysis, but my body isn't paralyzed. I'm just really confused and tired 😭 anyone know what this could be?

Talking during sleep paralysis episode (unsuccessful)

Someone made a post 3-4 weeks ago, they mentioned they were able to talk during an episode. I had an episode last night, remembered their post and that I told them I would try to do it too, I tried to talk, and it did not work for me. I was able to mumble a little but not very loudly. No clear words. But it’s something I will try to do again in the future.

Cried and Pinched myself to wake up

The other night I had SP experience combined with a nightmare, I knew I had to wake up but I couldn’t move ; couldn’t open my eyes and I yelled and cried in my dream and literally felt like I’m crying for real. I was pinching myself. But all of that was in my sleep and not real. Though it fell very much so. Then I felt a small jerk and woke up. I asked my partner if he heard me cry or scream and he said he didn’t.

Sp last night

So long story short. My kids father (29) just passed away last week and yesterday I and my daughter attented the burial. We weren't together for years but we always communicated when we did. So when I fell asleep after talking to my partner about everything since it was sitting heavy on me I was having no issues. But then all of the sudden felt this huge pressure being pushed down on me and I can see in the corner of my eye a shadow. I swear I stood up but of course that wasn't true. After a while of me fighting this I finally woke up. My heart wouldn't stop racing and I kept having this tingling sensation all throughout the back of my head on my left side, keep in mind I sleep facing down so this was very different for me to experience. Where I saw the shadow a couple of feet away I had his photo from the memorial. Has anyone experienced this after losing someone?

I don't know if this counts as paralysis or not but I'm worried.

This will sound probably very boring to people on here but I have been woken up because I felt a finger. A singular finger, it was so weird. I was about to fall asleep, the pure brink of slumber, and I feel myself grab onto this finger behind me and it startles me. Obviously nothing is there once I'm awake but it felt so real, I checked that I didn't grab my own finger and I know I didn't because I had one hand on my neck and one holding my phone. I didn't feel any weight on my chest and I didnt physically see anything, it was like if someone were to put their finger inbetween my hand as I was about to fall asleep and I grabbed it. I know it was a finger too, I can feel the skin so vividly and I remember the way it like folded or wrinkled when I grabbed it.

Im not too sure what happened and I dont want to go down the route of "Oh it was a ghost" but that option seems the most plausible right now. Maybe has anyone kind of had a similar experience? I don't know this is the first time its happened.

Help much appreciated!

Normal?

So I think I recently had sleep paralysis happen to me. Woke up well kinda my ears were ringing, my whole body felt weird and I couldn’t move, genuinely I thought I saw someone in my room. The ringing got louder and I went into a lucid nightmare, then after I came out of that nightmare the sleep paralysis happened again. After that there was another lucid nightmare then sleep paralysis, after that I went back into normal sleep. I’m not sure what to think about this, I mean I know sleep paralysis can happen to anyone and isn’t a big issue but is it supposed to last this long. It wasn’t a fun experience.

First experience with sleep paralysis

A couple of weeks ago, I had my first experience with sleep paralysis. I woke up early in the morning and felt like I couldn’t move. I didn’t think much of it, maybe it was just that cozy feeling under warm blankets keeping me still. My bedroom door makes a creaking sound when it opens or shuts, and shortly after waking, I heard it creaking as if someone were opening it slowly. But the thing is, I live alone and the door wasn’t moving.

Once the sound stopped, I heard somebody calling my name. My eyes stayed glued to the door. Who could be calling my name? I kept staring at the door, trying to make sense of it. Suddenly, I felt a whole-body jerk, and I was able to move. I didn’t feel scared in that moment, I just thought “that was weird”. I got out of bed, checked the house for any intruders, but it was empty. I thought maybe I was dreaming. But I knew I was fully awake. I came to the conclusion that I must have just experienced sleep paralysis for the first time. Strange experience.
