Hey All, Looking for some advice and recommendations on my current routine and maybe new products to try please. My skin type is very oily and for the most part I feel my current routine keeps it under control until later in the day. The only real downside which annoys me at the minute is by 2-3pm after using a mattifying sunscreen in the morning is I start to get really oily and greasy again and I want to try and combat that. I also have quite large pores/sebaceous filaments on my nose area so any advice for this would be greatly appreciated to keep it under control.
Morning: • Paulas Choice Skin Balancing Cleanser • Paulas Choice Skin Balancing Moisturiser SPF30
Evening: • Paulas Choice Skin Balancing Cleanser • Paulas Choice Salicylic Acid (Every other day between retinoid) • e.l.f. Retinoid Serum (Every other day between Salicylic acid) • Paulas Choice Skin Balancing Moisturiser
I'm open to trying new products to help with the issues listed above. Any comments are greatly appreciated!
ADHD Friendly Routine Help
Hi all! One of my go-to life mottos is “anything worth doing is worth doing halfway.” It really helps me when I’m stuck in an ADHD rut and can’t motivate myself to do the things. If it’s something good for me, it’s worth doing even a crappy job of it. I’ve found many different ways of existing and taking care of myself even when it feels impossible.
But skincare. Skincare is something I just cannot stick to. The ONLY thing I am good about is using a makeup remover wipe every night before bed.
If it requires turning on water, opening and closing many bottles, keeping track of the order of products… nope. My brain will not let me do that with any consistency.
I’d love to get some suggestions on other super easy things I can do to care for my skin! I’m in my mid-30s. I have oily skin, lots of clearly filled sebaceous filaments, and hormonal acne. I’d love to find a wipe that is a good cleanser. Maybe even something also in wipe form to help with the other things.
I’m not trying to have flawless glass skin. Just less… whatever it is I have now.
All ideas, tips, products, etc are welcome!
Has anyone has any success with products? Thinking about zinc soap and calendula cream.. I’m impatient because my confidence has gone down
Im starting with a bit of a self-pity rant but have put my question and routine further down.
VENT: I have oily skin and large pores as you can see. I try to accept them and used to find comfort in people online saying people dont see pores from conversational distance. However, i believe that mine are big enough that people can. I can see them in the mirror at a normal distance and sometimes even in photos taken a step away. Its because my skin gets so oily it makes them so much bigger but also shiny. It's really affecting my self-esteem and intimacy with people. I feel uncomfortable when conversing with someone and divert eye contact it they're looking at my face. I feel uncomfortable when my friends hug me as they're close to my face. I shy away whenever someone looks over my shoulder, and even with my partner leaning in for a kiss, im so self conscious of how noticable they must be. They're on my mind 24/7.
QUESTION: Since they cant be removed, I need help on keeping them clean and therefore 'smaller'. They look the best after Ive cleansed but then it takes 1 hour for my oily skin to kick in and make them much larger. I have incorproated all the products that I know are meant to help pores and oily skin.. yet as soon as i put anything on my face, they look clogged again.
Below is my routine and I hope people could give their insight on what i could do to keep them clear whether its getting rid of a prosuct/brand or incorporating a new product...
MORNING:
Cleanser - Laroche Posay Toleriane Caring Wash
Niacinamide - The Inkey List
Azelaic Acid- finacea cream
Sunscreen- Laroche Posay Anthelios 50+
EVENING:
Oil Cleanse - Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil
Cleanser - Laroche Posay Toleriane Caring Wash
Moisturiser - Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturiser
4x a week - 0.025% Menarini tretinoin
1x a week - Innisfree Clay Mask followed by Paulas Choice Salicylic Acid\
1x a week - Hada Labo hyaluronic face mask
I've purchased A313 but I'm not sure if I should be layering before or after my lotion. I'm also using it as a tester to see how well my skin reacts to a retinol but eventually I'd like to move to Tret.
I'm trying to reduce the risk of purging. Thank you!!
So I've had acne and oily skin since like 11 years old, I'm now 30. I've been taking spearmint pills the last 3 months an i no longer have super oily skin, (or bad gas during ovulation or before period). However i do still break out before/during period. Since the spearmint has had a positive effect should i just up the dosage and see if i can completely cure the breakouts or add something else. I currently take 1000mg, thinking maybe i should up it to 2. (not interested in oral pharmaceuticals, but ok with topical.)
I've done tret, and it doesn't do anything for the breakouts. I've done azelaic acid with tranexamic, which i really liked for scars but didn't really stop breakouts. (took a short break from it because I'm getting a chemical peel, plan to resume). I've tried clymadicin and it just made me super dry.
About two years ago I opted to get laser hair removal because I hated shaving, couldn’t afford to continually wax for years on end, and was too tired to fight people about my body hair. I don’t remember what laser was used, but I got 6 rounds for my underarms and bikini areas, and I was told that that would be enough to see results that were equivalent to my arm hair. For reference, I’m pale and my underarm/bikini areas are coarser and dark brown/black, and my arm hair is really fine, golden/ashy blond, and barely noticeable. Obviously 6 sessions barely made a dent and now my hair grows back at different speeds making it look patchy, but worse it also makes it impossible to wax.
I’m really regretting spending so much money to not see results, and am really bummed that I have to revert to shaving, aka the main reason I got laser in the first place. I wish I’d just left my hair how it was, but now I feel more compelled to remove it because of how it grows back. Is my only option to go back and get more treatments?
I've been prescribed doxy and adapalene 0.3% for my acne. Never got acne this bad but it all started when I stopped my pills. I'm also back on it and I'm on week 1 of adapalene 0.3% and the area where i would get so much acne (around my jaw and neck) is starting to itch. I might have to down my usage to every other night. I tried using it every night straight for 3 days... My current skincare routine is:
AM: Cetaphil Gentle cleanser Sunscreen
PM: Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser Adapalene 0.3% Aloe vera gel moisturizer (I only use this when it gets super dry otherwise I don't use any moisturizer at all)
I have been thinking if I could incorporate the Some by Mi AHA BHA toner during AM routine and then replacing the aloe moisturizer with the cetaphil moisturizer at night.
What do you guys think? Thank you in advance!
I have;
I’m quite new to skincare, and i’ve gotten a LRP Effaclar Micro Peeling purifying gel, but i won’t use it daily and at most 3 times a week as it has SA and is an exfoliant.
I’m looking for a gentle, hydrating cleanser that i can use in the PM and/or in the AM that doesn’t have too much harsh or drying out active ingredients as my other products already has active ingredients
Looking for anything to clean my pores and face well, hydrate my skin, ceramide/ninacinamides are bonus too. Any help? Thanks!
P.S: So far i’ve been looking at the LRP Toleraine Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, LRP Effaclar Foaming purifying Foaming cleanser and, the CeraVe Hydrating cleanser.
I'm currently on Accutane and spironolactone for cystic and hormonal acne, and it's clearing up beautifully, but there are some dark scars left behind. I used Bio-Oil in my teens for stretch marks, but I'm wondering if it's still the best remedy, or if there have been more effective treatments introduced on the market since? I likely won't be getting any laser treatments as the scarring isn't very severe, just looking for at home topical treatments. :)
I feel like I’ve always had really bad eye bags but I don’t know how to get rid of them. I sleep enough so I’m not sure what else can cause them. I also have smile lines I would like to get rid of 🥲 if any products would help me please lmk!! Thank you
I had my eyebrows waxed a week ago for the first time. I now have like over 30 bumps going across both eyebrows, in between them, and even some under my eyebrows. It's bad. My husband had his done and he isn't breaking out. My skin has gotten way more sensitive since I've gotten older (29f) i used to never break out. I use thayers face wash, I switch back and forth between the aloe and snow mushroom. Everything else breaks me out. A few months ago my face was so clear (even during my time of month)
I was using the thayers face wash (alternating between the two) Thayers non scented toner (the rose petal one breaks me out) The ordinary niacinamide and zinc serum The ordinary organic cold pressed rose hip seed oil Thayers barrier bestie face cream
I was using all that in that order and my face was not breaking out.
I'm traveling rn and have been gone for two months and forgot my serums. At first, I didn't think it'd be a big deal. Now I know it is. I went to ulta ab a week ago and got the serum and rose hip seed oil. I'm noticing a difference, but i don't think that's what caused the breakout over my eyebrows? I've never ever had a breakout like that. Am I allergic to waxing? It wasn't a rash, just sooooo many little bumps that turned into pimples. It's crazy.
I also bought a night time serum set from the ordinary that is: Hyaluronic acid Retinol Rose hip seed oil Can I use all these products together? Or is the too much? I'm pretty new to skincare bc i use to just have to wash my face with dove. That's not an option anymore. Any advice?
Sorry for the format on my phone. Also, sorry for the rambling. I'm adhd and very bad with staying on topic and in order.
I’ve been using Apostrophe for about a year now and was prescribed clindamycin + benzoyl peroxide + niacinamide. The stuff works great for my skin and I just had a follow up with them. They recommend I continue with just the clindamycin + niacinamide because of recent FDA warnings regarding my previous medication?
Has anyone heard of these FDA warnings? I can’t find anything online; I followed up with my apostrophe provider but haven’t heard back yet.
It was my understanding that clindamycin must be used with benzoyl peroxide to prevent antibiotic resistance
I have been switching around my routine for a bit now. I am trying to reduce acne-products from my old routine. However, I do not think it's working (I still have ance about the same if not more after using this routine for around 3 months). And, I now suddenly started feeling tingling when I apply moisturizer after toner. Do you have any recommendation on what should I switch to? My skin type should be hybrid (?) where I got oily around the nose but very dry around the cheeks. Thank you.
Good day,
I have been doing a very basic skincare routine for quite a while now but I have never really taken the time to inform myself properly or get deeper into the topic as my skin was always quite good. So excuse my lack of expertise and feel free to ask if you need any more details :)
However, there were some issues I couldn't get rid of and now I would like to do something about that.
I do believe I have a combination skin type with oily skin in the T zone and as I get small bumps and breakotus there more frequently.
My routine so far just included a foaming cleanser, BHA toner, urea face creme, quite frequently zinc creme and of coursseeeee sunscreen.
Now here are the issues: My skin seems to regrow skincells and as a result exfoliate veerrryyy quickly. This affects my whole body and I can essentially always scrub off dead skincells no matter what I seem to do. These are not really visible under normal circumstances. After taking a shower they tend to become visible in my face if anything. But even then it is quite bothersome and I cannot help the urge to rub away on my skin to remove them at all times.
I don't know if this might have any other implications but if there was a way to help with this I would love to know. Furthermore, sunscreen seems to make this 10x worse. Not the "production" of skincells but how easily I can scrub them off. Whenever I apply sunscreen I can just drag my hand across my body with mild pressure and end up with a bunch of dead skin on my hand. I find that to be rather annoying and it's why I sometimes refrain from using sunscreen.
Another issue with suncreen is that it feels quite "heavy" on the face. Whenever I apply it, it is very prominent and makes the skin "sticky/oily" for a long time. Might be an issue with the type of sunscreen I am using or might not even be an issue at all but I do dislike the feeling.
Same basically goes for zinc creme. Application makes the skin "sticky" for hours and its especially bad when you apply sunscreen on top of that. But I've had noticable improvements using zinc creme so I would like to stick with it or at least something similar.
Now this is quite a lot to read so here is a quick Tl;dr:
Too many dead skincells, skin a bit bumpy and small breakouts of pimples every now and then, sunscreen makes skin very oily feeling.
Would be grateful for any and all tips regarding a routine but especially ones targeting mentioned problems.
Thank you for taking the time to read my yap <3
Hi everyone! Hope everyone’s day is going well :) I’m 23F and I started getting moderate leg/butt acne about a year and a half ago roughly. I think it may be a mix between my job (I have kind of an office job, so I’m sitting for a good portion of the day) and the clothes I wear (usually leggings during the day). For the most part, it’s just a bunch of little pimples on my butt and thighs, and a few bigger ones that hurt quite a lot. I also get some pretty aggressive ingrown hairs, so maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, I’ve tried exfoliating and changing up my diet, but other than that I don’t really know what to do 😭 I’ve even resorted to putting pimple patches on my legs lol. I’ve never had too intense of acne before (except hormonal) and I’ve never used any acne treatments, so all this is a little new to me. Any help/advice is appreciated! Thanks :)
Like the title says, can’t really find any opinions on it. My big questions are: is it scented? And if it is, is it heavily perfumed? And does it actually work for your oily to oily/combo skin?
Hi! I am 24F. I feel like I have a good skincare routine. I use cleanser, toner, moisturizing serum and a moisturizing cream. My skin feels good and healthy, and it is. But every now and then I get really big cystic acne, always 2-3 quite big on my chin. I don't really know why. Does anyone have any idea? It tends to happend more in the winter then summer. I am on the pill so I don't know if this is hormonal. I don't't use any makeup, and I only do my routine every night.
Thank you!
My friend, who is a trained doctor and is just starting her own dental/aesthetic practice, asked if she could perform mesotherapy on me. She has never done it before but has experience administering fillers and similar treatments on others. She essentially needs a "model" to practice on and isn’t charging me for it. Do you think it’s a good idea? What should I expect from the procedure, and are there any potential risks?
Hey everyone! So, trying to find natural remedies to dry hands. I’m attempting to minimize plastic waste/using lotions with added chemicals.
I currently use CeraVe lotions or cetaphil as I have sensitive skin/eczema. However, I’d like to find natural remedies that could either replace or supplement with these moisturizers. I’ve used coconut oil, shea butter, and marula oil previously.
Just wanted to see if anyone likes a specific oil or even a brand for natural products. Thanks!
I had this little white head in the middle of my neck and instead of leaving it alone I messed with it. Now it’s scarred and nothing came out. It’s this hard little bump now in the middle of my neck. It’s so obvious and a pain to cover with make up. Any tips to make it fade or get rid of it.
Hello! I'm 27, I'm currently using Vitamin C in the morning and at night I use Retinol and a Salicylic Acid-Niacinamide serum (2 times a week each) and sunscreen.
I'm getting my first lines on my forehead and it's what's currently making me a little bit self conscious. Should I add something else to my routine?
I've heard about Matrixyl, Argilerine... what are your thoughts?
Thank you
