Rules for r/Skincare_Addiction
1. Please stay on topic!
We cover skincare from head to toe and everything in-between, including dandruff and ingrown hairs.
If you don't know what's wrong with your skin, i.e. you don't have a diagnosis, then don't post here. We're here to discuss products and common concerns like dryness, oiliness, wrinkles, discoloration, and other superficial things.
No fishing for compliments posts. (Examples: How does my skin look? Are my wrinkles that bad?)
Please see the wiki for more information.
2. Be kind to others, and to yourself.
Post titles, descriptions, and comments must not be self-deprecating, self-disparaging, or otherwise unkind in tone. Content implying requests for sympathy may also be removed.
Bigotry, personal attacks, racism, homophobia, and transphobia will not be tolerated and will result in a ban.
This rule is not to be confused with opinions you don't agree with. As long as it’s done in a respectful manner, we will allow it. No negative comments about the size of a collection or about finances.
3. No spam, self-promotion or referral codes.
No spamming your blog, website, business or social media. No surveys. Exceptions can be arranged prior for active members in our community if your blog/website/social relates to the topic at hand.
Absolutely NO referral/affiliate links or codes.
Do not repost removed or self-deleted content. This is a form of spam and is not allowed.
No AI/ChatGPT.
4. No playing doctor or requesting acne/medical advice.
Do not ask for a diagnosis/treatment advice for acne or other medical conditions. Do not diagnose acne/medical conditions. (Yes, asking "What is this?" is asking for a diagnosis!)
Do not go against what someone's doctor has told them and give your 2 cents. Do not ask us to second-guess your dermatologist's advice.
NO unsafe/dangerous recommendations or advice.
Please see the wiki for more information regarding this rule.
5. No MLM's. Period.
No promoting, shilling or recommending MLM products in this sub.
MLM (multi-level marketing) is a predatory practice that often targets women and those in vulnerable situations. r/Skincare_Addiction will not be a place for promoting such products/practices.
6. No NSFW.
Do not post photos of bare private parts, bare bottoms, bare anything that you wouldn't show your grandmother. This is not a NSFW sub and what you have probably needs medical attention, which we are not qualified to provide.
7. Moderator discretion.
Moderators reserve the right to make decisions in the best interests of the sub and its users, including removing posts that are overly dramatic or are deemed likely to cause undue drama or controversy. Posts that are low effort or have insufficient detail (i.e., just a photo) may be removed. If you won't make the effort to tell us what your question is, we won't make the effort to try to guess.
Attempting to evade filters for any reason is a bannable offense.

I have many dark spots, and the derm suggested the above cleanser, moisturizer and serum and recommended a chemical peel after a month. My hair is extremely frizzy, thin, and wavy, and I have recently been suffering from hair loss. The derm suggested cutting my long hair(I do not want to) and suggested serum multivitamin tablets. Can anyone review this.
Skin type: Normal but dry in winters
My skin is too dry for this weather. Apartment is freezing with dry air. Waking up with dry tight face everyday even with a moisturizing nighttime routine (cleanse + HA toner + HA serum + moisturizer). Thinking of getting rid of the cleanse step in my routine and wondering if anyone else does this during this weather. What do you use in place of?
She’s got sensitive skin with an olive-yellow tone and dark hair. I looked into it, and IPL seems like a good option for her, but I’m not sure which device would work best, especially for Asian skin tones. Anyone have experience with this? I could really use some recommendations.
Initially I started out using the la Roche Posay face sunscreen, but it gave me bad contact dermatitis (all my eye area was red and swollen). Since then I’ve been scared to use any facial sunscreen and haven’t bothered looking into one that works for me. Currently, I use the Bondi Sands sunscreen which is for the whole body that I apply daily. Is this ok?
Im 16 and going on epiduo but recently I bought a niacinimide serum by beauty of joseon. I heard that you shouldn’t mix the serum with epiduo but I’m going to start by using epiduo every other day. So can I use the serum on the days where I don’t use epiduo or in the next morning? Tell me some ideas I don’t like wasting stuff
I just bought this from a pretty reliable drugstore but the ingredients are completely different then on the anua website. Can ya’ll please help me out?🙏
I know it's not really recommended to put anything on your face after micro needling. But there are many many occasions when I have to go outside considerably less than 24 hours after I micro needle at home. (Using 0.25mm). This is something that I just started to help with beard growth.
What I have and normally use for moisturizer with SPF is La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer SPF 30.
Is this an okay moisturizer to use and do you feel like the SPF is high enough? If not would there be a recommended version or a different kind that you would use?
And to be clear the outside time is not very long it's no more than a couple of minutes at a time. Usually going from the house to the car or the car to another location. I'm not spending hours outside.
Hi, Hoping this helps at least one person. Just a warning to be very careful with pimple patches. I had quite a large spot a couple of months ago and decided to try pimple patches. Maybe it was the wrong type of spot to put a patch on - I’m not sure. I used a patch on the spot overnight and removed in the morning for about 5 nights. Unfortunately when I removed the patch one morning it must have irritated the skin because when I washed my face the whitehead fell off and it bled Fast forward 6 weeks and it’s now clear I have a bad scar where the spot was. This spot was quite angry but definitely not bad enough to leave a scar. Just a warning for anyone tempted to use patches.
I have combo skin type and excess sebum and clogged nose pores. I'm trying niacinamide, and I don't know if it's working but my main question is how to clear the nose. I have a salicylic acid cleanser but it doesn't work on my nose even after massaging for a few minutes. The only thing that almost clears it is a mud mask, but does anyone know any cleanser that does what my mud mask does without having to wait? maybe just a stronger salicylic acid cleanser?
i have hyperpigmentation, i have dark armpits dark knees and elbows and just random dark spots around my body especially on my stomach and down my back and up my thighs front and back. I started using kojie san soap for my elbows knees and armpits, kinda started working, what do i do for the rest of my body, i feel like when i tried it on my body it made it a bit worse so i need something else because i cant risk it cause im broke😭 Any suggestions??
Has anyone used this sunscreen? Any thoughts? I'm looking for a zinc based sunscreen, couldn't find any reviews of this product anywhere?
Everything burns and I don’t know what to do. Even the barrier serum I used that supposedly always helped for anything burns like crazy. Aquqphor also now burns. I have also started to develop itchy rashes on my neck. I was using differin till about 3 days ago (I used it for 4.5 months) and stopped cause my barrier was so bad. Help!!!! Biafine doesn’t help, nor cocokind, aquaphor, Cerave, or Avene. My skin doesn’t like cetaphil or vanicream either. I’m at a loss I’ve never had my skin barrier be so bad in my entire life.
I’m looking for a product to help calm and soothe my skin during flare-ups. I have dry, sensitive skin, and sometimes my skin gets irritated. Any recommendations for something gentle but effective?
Coming from a tropical country my skin have always been perfect using :
1.sebamed cleansing foam
2.sebamed toner
3.sebamed clear face gel
After going to nz my face has been utter shit. I have dry patches all over my face. I am now using :
1.sebamed cleansing foam
2.trying sebamed baby moisturizer and nz cancer society kids sunscreen
I've excluded my toner and clear face gel out of my routine.
I just want to ask if there are any moisturizer you trust that doesn't clog pores?, and is your reliable go to as sebamed baby moisturizer is giving me tiny bumps all over my face and I never had that so I'm going to try it for 3 week first and see how it goes.
Tried the viral Korean skincare mask biodance, and let me just tell you it is not for sensitive skin people. I’ve only seen glowing reviews and it did moisturize but my chin hasn’t broken out like this EVER. 😭😭😭. Anyone else have a negative reaction?
Hey guys, 30M here. Need some advice to choose products to maintain skin and face. I want to make my skin tone even and get rid of dark spots. And should fix the tan in my hand and neck. Do suggest me some products for the same.
I don’t want to use foundation/concealer because I feel like in the long run it’ll cause my skin to age faster. Are tinted chemical sunscreens basically like a sunscreen with foundation? Isn’t that bad in the long run? Also, what about mineral tinted sunscreens - do they get their tinted aspect from zinc oxide only or are there the same pigments that are used in foundation/concealer in makeup? Please help! I have no idea. I have terrible dark circles and use sunscreen and a concealer everyday but I’m worried for my skin. So I thought a tinted chemical sunscreen would be the better choice but I don’t know.
I’ve heard of people tattooing them into normal skin color but they cover most of my hips/butt/thighs
I was recently gifted this red light therapy LED mask by a friend who can't use it, and I want to incorporate it into my routine for anti-aging. But I also use Tretinoin, and I know I can't use them together. Am I supposed to use the red light mask, and then wash my face again, and then put on the Tretinoin? Or how should I incorporate both? I want to use both at night, because I'll never be able to do red light in the AM! Thank you!!!
