The features I want and use were free until 2017. I'm still running make 2017 and use it often. I use the component outliner and plugins for cutlists and 2d SVG exports to cam software. I just make stuff in my garage as a hobby. I can't afford to pay 349 a year or 265 a year with the current sale for these features. A lower subscription cost could legitimately have me paying for years to come. I pay 15 a month for my carveco cam software subscription. I could easily see myself paying that for SketchUp. It's such a good program. The pricing pushes hobbyists out. Sure I can model for free in web but those few key missing features really limit. I think lower subscription plans would lead to a much higher volume of paying customers from the hobby/ small buisiness community. If 2017 ever quits running on my PC I am in trouble.
hi! seems like a dumb question but rn i cant unhide all the geometry i've hidden while working because once i unhide them to lower the geometry with the new plugin i discovered, it keeps crashing..
if anyone could help me rn just lower the geometry super big help t---t i've been stressing for the past 3 hrs
Hello! I tried opening this file, which I've been working on for more than a week, when opening it right now, I get the error box saying "Unexpected File Format"
I have already tried changing the .skb file format to .skp. However, both of those files opens the tab saying "Unexpected File Format." Can anyone help me install my file, open it in their sketchup, and fix something about it?
I could do it all over again if only the due date isn't due tomorrow.
Every time I try to match a new photo Sketchup just crashes on my home PC. I have version 6 and 8, both have the same problem. We use Sketchup at school and on some computers it works and on some it doesn't and it crashes just like on mine. What's funny is that I can open projects with already matched photos. Is there a way to fix this?
Hello everyone!! I am a design student studying abroad for a semester. I am trying to recreate a model I made into a computer model (see the photos attached). I have tried making it in flat sections that I extracted, but obviously, I didn't get the curved effect I wanted. I wanted to see if this can be made on SketchUp, and if anyone has any tips/instructions and or guides on how I can make this. I need it for my project, so I would appreciate any help. I know some Sketchup, but I would say I still have a bit to learn.
Hellos does anyone know where can i buy high quality models for rendering either D5 o Vray. Thank you
Would you recommend using a MacBook Air m3 10 core GPU for interior designing on sketchup and rendering on enscape?
Hello! I currently work at a custom kitchen cabinet shop and have been designing kitchens. Blessed to learn this difficult skill, as I’ve encountered many interesting situations. It’s a bit archaic here…. as in…. I use graph paper and hand draw scaled measurement sheets for a programmer to put into a 2D 90s version of 20/20 to produce drawings for clients. I have been thinking about purchasing the sketch up license/ program and starting to provide clients with much better visuals, eventually just branching into my own business to offer kitchen design with elevated visuals to clients. I’d like to provide AI realistic quality visuals.
Before I make the purchase for sketch up, I’m having a hard time determining all the related costs, I’m assuming I’ll need special plug ins for kitchen design and then even the ai portion of what I need. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? What do you/ are you doing that you have found success in? I’m a newbie and can go without AI until I get the swing of things in sketch up (since I hand draw things)….
This has been a thought/ dream ruminating in my mind for years and I’m ready to take some actionable steps towards making this a reality.
Thank you in advance.
New to sketch up, I think I'll use vray as a renderer, and I saw these desktops on sale. I try to understand if it is worth taking advantage of the promotion, if they would be a good option. The idea will be to keep the desktop for at least 5 years! And if you have any suggestions for improving components, please! Thank you everyone!
I’m using raylectron for rendering any tips to make this look better in raylectron
I don't know what to do at this point. I am using a fairly high end PC I built for VR, yet the app continuously crashes on me and I'm losing time and money. The app crashes approximately 10x+ times be day.
SketchUp should run flawlessly on my machine.
Specs are:
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor 4.50 GHz
32GB DDR5
2TB SSD
NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000
ㅠㅡㅠ am i the only one who feels this way?
my major is industrial design and i'm taking sketchup lecture this semester. i thought it was quite easy at the first time of the lecture, but now the only thing i can feel is just how pathetic i am
...or maybe i'm just stupid... all my classmates(industrial design/22ppl) are at least doing anything about the theme that my professor gave but i couldn't even start
i'm idiot design student
The extension become paid extension 😭😭
Would really appreciate it if someone can give it to me straight. I’ve been using Sketchup Web/Free for a few months and think it’s great. But some things are annoying… maybe it’s because I’m so new to 3D design and/or sketchup though. For example: I designed some cabinets that fill an entire wall. As I was iterating the design, I realized I needed to make the whole bank of cabinets (modeled board by board) 3” longer overall… I had to spend half an hour push/pulling the cabinet rails and stiles and snapping guide lines. A real hassle!
Is this a Sketchup limitation or am I not sufficiently skilled?
Furthermore, if I want to design a 150 sq ft outdoor sauna cabin — basically a tiny house, minus some appliances — would I be better served with some other software instead of Sketchup Pro??
Hey all, i'm following some online courses on sketchup website and the Sketchup for Web: Fundamentals course shows just the first two chapters available, all the rest are tagged as Coming Soon. I've been waiting for few months now and still no change. Can anyone check if that's not just for my user but for everyone? I can't contact Sketchup directly. I can't message them on X as my account is not verified, etc.
Thanks.
I thought I should start to share my process I use to make silly money as a designer selling kitchen/bathroom renovation work. I learnt everything form Youtube (Shout out to Justin) and self taught through trial and error the rest.
Here is some renders that take under 5 mins to send to clients. Here's a link to the sketch up drawing https://app.sketchup.com/share/tc/northAmerica/AJoCbjts144?stoken=bD-UysZYP4bE5yEFp0Gb3Po9qemqr5xZCi4jYWKFtrbMYaQpU_wjuUJd5cdrPTDS&source=desktop
-draw up kitchen with client (30 mins)
-Add finishes (10-20 mins)
-add simlab VR lighting inside sketch up and loading up (2 mins)
-zoom around and take different screenshots (2 mins)
If there is interest, I'll spare some time to record a walk through start to finish on youtube so it's repeatable
Update: I shutdown my computer and it's ok now
It started doing it randomly. I'm not sure if I accidentally hit something. I restarted skp and my laptop and I switched mouses too. I opened another skp file and it's doing the same thing.
Hi All,
I'm new to sketchup and currently following an online course to learn how to use it, but keep coming across issues when using my newly purchased Asus laptop.
I'm not really a fan of apple products but not sure if Sketchup would work better and wanted to see what people's opinions are? Have you used both, what is your preference and why?
I'm using this year's version of sketchup but It won't let me import a CAD file and when importing a JPG file to work on, the laptop goes all glitchy and the screen flickers in different colours when I try to interact with it and then black out for a second, so i'm just fed up with coming across these issues and thinking I should have purchased a better laptop to prevent these issues, as i'm getting really fed up that i'm not able to progress with the course like I want to and reluctant to turn on the laptop each day.
so throwing it out to you for your thoughts/ opinions/ recommendations please :)
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I have a Sketchup Pro 2019 license which I purchased when that version was released. I need to reinstall on a new machine. I have the .dmg file to install. When I install it, the splash screen is blank grey. Any ideas? Trying to install on an Intel Mac Mini. (I have SU 2018 already on that machine).
Why is the second floor of this house showing the outline of the interior partitions of the first floor? How can I fix this?
Hello Sketch Up'ers -
I'm new here just getting going using SU Web for DIY projects.
In the middle of the build but have not been able to source bullnose that match the base board so.... looking to make two of them! Up for a challenge but wanted to get some tips to shorten the path for getting a clean trace of the profile -> extruding -> bending along radius- > printing.
I discovered FredoScale but haven't journeyed there yet. I would like to pull this off myself but it could take be many, many hours so also open to options for online or PDX Metro shop that would do this for a reasonable fee with the specs.
Bullnose 3/8" corners: Similar to what I'm using with dimensions https://www.trim-tex.com/products/medium-bullnose-corner-bead-and-archway
Finished product example (different profile): https://www.lowes.com/pd/Radius-Corners-3-1-4-in-x-15-32-in-Interior-Unfinished-Colonial-Radius-Corner-Moulding-Block/1000255449
Appreciate suggestions / pointers to the shortest path.
Hi all, sketchup noob here. I'm trying to pull out the highlighted shape in this model, but when I use push pull nothing happens. Is the sloped ceiling "blocking" it? Anyone know how I can get this to work? I doubt I've done this optimally so I'm open to any advice on how I should be doing this. Thanks :)
